The awards season is upon us, and the Oscars are Sunday night! I’ve always wanted to be invited to an Oscar party, and maybe this year I’ll luck out. Just in case, I will want to be ready, and that means having my skin look its best.
Asian skincare is my favorite. Japanese and Korean cosmetics companies are almost always the innovators when it comes to new skincare technology, products and even package design.
Recently, through a collaboration with my sister beauty bloggers from The Beauty Council,
I had an opportunity to experience a Japanese skincare brand that was new to me: Skin Inc. Skin Inc was introduced in the U.S. last year, and it was launched in Japan 7 years ago. Since then, it has won over 50 awards from leading beauty publications including Bazaar, Cosmo and Elle.
I received a beautiful package in the mail, and I could hardly wait to get into it. It’s Skin Inc’s “Glam Like A Star” brightening kit that’s part of their “Party Ready Skin Series”. Just the thing to help me whip my winter dull skin into bright and healthy shape. I’ll be camera ready in no time.
Right off the bat, the packaging wowed me. The clear exterior with the white interior bottles made me think “science/technology” and also “spa”. They look so clean and modern.
The two products in the brightening kit chosen for me were perfect for my mature, dry skin:
- Skin Inc Pure Revival Peel
- Skin Inc Pure Deepsea Hydrating Mask.
The peel and the mask can be used on their own or in tandem. So far, I have used them together.
Pure Revival Peel
“Revolutionary non-abrasaive peel that visibly but gently removes dullness and dead skin cells. Renews and restores youthful vitality to your skin, even as it exfoliates”.
Just what I need to help my skin better absorb the serums and moisturizers that I’ve been using!
Instead of using exfoliating beads or grit that can be rough on skin, this “first in the world formula combines high-performance active ingredients AC-11, arbutus and fullerene”. In addition to exfoliating, Skin Inc explains that the Pure Revival Peel “acts like a super-dynamic primer, revealing skin that makeup can glide on perfectly.” Wow.
So how to use the peel: I applied a thin layer of the liquid peel to my dry face. After about 10 seconds or so, the clear peel turned milky. I massaged it in using a circular motion. Most people see the exfoliating effect as the dead skin particles come off into their hand as they massage. Because I have been using an exfoliating daily cleanser, I didn’t see skin particles, but my skin definitely felt immediately smoother. I rinsed my face with warm water before proceeding to the next step.
Pure Deepsea Hydrating Mask
The Pure Deepsea Hydrating Mask was just what my winter dry skin needs. Thank you, thank you! The mask is not only hydrating but it also clarifies and brightens. Yeah!
The mask can be used as a regular rinse-off mask (leave on for 30 minutes) or as an overnight mask. And to my delight, the Pure Deepsea Hydrating Mask is a clear gel. If you read my blog, you know that I ADORE skincare products that are gels!!
The mask contains nutrient-rich deep sea water from Okinawa as well as Soya Bean extracts and hyaluronic acid. As someone who spends a lot of time in the Atlantic Ocean every summer, I know about the benefits of sea water. And the mask is so gentle, it can even be used under the eyes to help hydrate and brighten whereas most masks tell you to avoid your eye area.
I decided to go for the works and leave the fragrance-free mask on overnight. The next morning my skin felt soft and looked much brighter. Yes!
What I also love about the Skin Inc products is that they are fragrance-free as well as parabens-free. They’re appropriate for all skin types including sensitive skin like mine or those who have acne.
I loved using the “Glam Like A Star” brightening kit. The kit is priced at $95 for both products. Though you can buy them individually as well — the Pure Revival Peel (2 fl. oz.) is priced at $55 and the Deepsea Hydrating Mask (1.7 fl. oz.) priced at $75, the kit is a great deal! Check out the “Glam Like A Star” kit as well as the rest of the Skin Inc product line on the Skin Inc website: http://www.iloveskininc.com/products/partyready-specials
Come Oscar night, I’ll be ready for my close-up, will you?

I have tried sample sizes of both their Hydrating and Brightening serums and really liked them. Thanks for the reviews. I want to try more of their products.
I’d like to try their serums, too. Where did you get the samples, Laura?
I love the mask, serum, and the peel. I can’t wait to try more of their products. Great review 🙂

Thanks, Kim. Me, too. I’d like to try the interesting looking gel with the beads in it!
This brand is great so far!! I’m really loving the Deepsea Hydrating mask too. Love that it’s not sticky, like most sleep masks are!!

Not sticky at all, Amber. In fact, I left mine on overnight but I had to apply my night cream on top of it.
I don’t think I’ve read much on this brand before now. This kit sounds like it may be of interest. I’ll have to put it on my ever-growing list of skincare to try!

It’s a skincare brand from Japan that is relatively new in the US. I believe they are going to be carried in Sephora soon. Their products are wonderful, definitely add them to your list!
I’ll try the mask next time. Skin Inc is a wonderful brand

I need to try the serums and the brightening mask. I adore the packaging for this brand!
I think I seriously need to use it as a overnight mask more often. I am always so rushed I do the 10 minutes and off it goes. I am obsessed with this brand, simply amazing. I am a serum freak for sure, so it makes me want them allllllll!!! lol….great post girl!! xxo

Definitely do the overnight! I want allllll the benefits from that mask 🙂
I love that it’s fragrance free! I’ve been using a product lately that while I love what it DOES, the smell kills me.

Although I love certain scents, I can’t stand others so unless I can sniff the product before buying, I want fragrance-free too!
This is the first I’m hearing of this brand. Sounds like a great kit!

It’s only been sold in the U.S. for about a year, and I believe it is just launching at Sephora. It’s a Japanese brand that started in 2007.
I am totally wowed by the packaging too- it’s so sleek! I’d love to try the hydrating mask, it sounds amazing.

I agree: the packaging is stunning!
Skin Inc is a great brand. Korean and Japanese skincare actually works better for me than mainstream brands. Whatever they’re doing, they’re doing it right!

I agree, Renu! I love Asian skincare products.
Last year in a Glossybox. Somehow I ended up with two in my box. I did not complain since I love trying new serums. I want a full size of the hydrating most. They are a bit more more expensive than my standby though.
Aha, I haven tried Glossybox yet. The Skin Inc line is quite pricey, but I too would love to try the serums, especially the DIY serum.
Oh, a peel and a moisture mask?! Yes, please! I want to try these!

It’s a very cool kit! And I love the packaging too
I think this combo together sounds great – that peel-off mask sounds so interesting!
It’s interesting to use a chemical exfoliator rather than an abrasive one. Unfortunately, because I am using an exfoliating cleanser for the past month, no dead skin cells came off for me!
I’ve been wanting to try their DIY serum thing since I saw it at Sephora in NYC!

I think that the DIY serum is such a cool idea. I want to do it too!
These sound fabulous for older skin!
That was my first thought, too!
I quit Glossybox soon after because they ship very very behind schedule. So late in fact that you are left wondering if you will ever receive it. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.
That’s a shame. I especially hate it when everyone else gets their box and I haven’t gotten mine. Oh well, there are so many other sub boxes to try.
The packaging alone is so luxe!

I have been hearing the rave on these products and they sound like they would be absolutely amazing!
They are worth a look for sure!
This is a new brand to me, but it sounds kind of amazing! The hydrating mask sounds great, I’ve been using a lot of them lately.
