2019 Beautylish Lucky Bag & Derma E Giveaway Winner

I Bought This - Affiliate links

Last year was the first year that I bought a Beautylish Lucky Bag. I bought the more affordable version, and I was generally happy with what I got. A year later, the most memorable items/the ones I used the most were the Wayne Goss brush and Clean Apothecary Brush Cleaner.

Nevertheless, I decided to try it again this year, again going for the more affordable version that cost about $75 plus shipping.

I ordered in December before the holidays, and the 2019 Beautylish Lucky Bag arrived last Friday just as I was leaving for the weekend. I couldn’t wait. I had to open the box before I left for the weekend.

The first thing I saw was the cute wrapping paper featuring cartoon Sumo wrestlers cavorting amongst the makeup.

The beauty products were wrapped in pleated black tissue paper and nestled in lots of bouncy but recyclable paper to protect the contents of the box.

Here’s what I got in my Beautylish Lucky Bag:

Natasha Denona Camel Palette

Yippee, I got the Natasha Denona Camel Palette! I bought myself the Mini Star Palette in December, and I like it a lot. I’m very happy to have another ND palette, and a bigger one at that. The neutral palette with 3 mattes, one shimmer and one glitter is great to travel with or to use for everyday. I used it today, and like the other ND palette I own, it’s easy to blend and doesn’t fade or crease. The neutral browns actually set my blue eyes off to good advantage, I think. $48

Wayne Goss 13 Face Brush

Wayne Goss #13 Face Brush: I love getting Wayne Goss brushes in my Beautylish bags because they are so expensive, I wouldn’t buy them on my own. The dome-shaped Face Brush can be used for just about any face makeup application, especially buffing foundation or powder. For me, it’s perfect for applying blush or highlighter. It’s very soft and super packed with bristles. Though it’s made from goat hair, it’s cruelty-free. (Hair that fell off the goat?) $53

Stila Glitter & Glow Iridescent Liquid Eye Shadow Set

Stila Iridescent Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow Set of 3 shadows: I really, really wanted to try the Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow so I was particularly thrilled when I saw this set of 3 mini shadows in the Beautylish box. I was happy to get 3 travel sizes in three different shades rather than one full size that I would never use up. $25

The shades in the Iridescent set are lovely:

  • embellish: deep rose gold with a gold shift that provides full coverage color
  • stylish: champagne – more of a sheer topper
  • dollish: pink – also more of a sheer topper that’s hard to see in the photo against my skin

Last night, I wore embellish over a purple eye look that I created with the gorgeous Smith & Cult Pressed Powder Eye Quad that I got in my Ipsy Glam Bag Plus,

and it looked and felt great. I was worried that the Stila Liquid Eye Shadow could be drying, but it wasn’t at all.

BECCA Moonstone Glow on the Go Face Set

BECCA Moonstone Glow on the Go Face Set includes travel sizes:

  • Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone, a pale champagne shade
  • Scintillant Embellisheur: a pale champagne liqui-cream highlighter

I bought one of these sets a couple of years ago, and I didn’t really use it much. But I really like these pale, lightly shimmering products so I think I will use it. The Skin Perfector reminds me of Hourglass Dim Light in terms of giving skin a blurred effect. The highlighter is very pretty, shimmery and not at all glittery. $20

Jouer Long Wear Lip Creme

Like the Stila Liquid Eye Shadow, I had wanted to try the Jouer Long Wear Lip Creme or was it the lipgloss I wanted to try? At any rate, I was happy to get this. The “rosé” shade looked pretty in the tube. In fact, it turned out to be just about the same shade as an Ofra Liquid Lipstick that I got in my Ipsy Glam Bag Plus a month ago. Rosé is a metallic rose gold shade. It’s pretty. It goes on very creamy, and it feels good on my lips for a couple of hours. After that, my dry lips get dry. But that’s just my lips 🙁 I will wear it from time to time anyway. $18

In my photo above, I’m wearing Jouer Lip Creme rosé in the middle of my lips as a shimmery accent shade.

Good Molecules Wake Up Eye Serum

Good Molecules Wake Up Eye Serum box, neversaydiebeauty.com

Good Molecules Wake Up Eye Serum is coming soon to Beautylish. I am not familiar with Good Molecules, but Beautylish only carries the best brands so I have high hopes for this. I tried to look up Good Molecules Skincare, and nothing came up so this must be a very new brand. The only thing I found were two bottles of the Good Molecules Wake Up Eye Serum, one on Mercari for $25 and one on eBay for $40 – I’m assuming that two people who got the serum in their Beautylish Lucky Bag are trying to sell them. So, I really don’t know how to estimate the cost of this product.

Currently, I am using an under eye serum from Dr. Perricone, but I have only about a 3/8″ left in the bottle. So when I finish the Dr. Perricone serum, I’ll switch to Good Molecules. I’ll let you know after I’ve used it for a while.

Thoughts on My Beautylish Lucky Bag 2019

Beautylish Lucky Bag beauty products, for 2019, neversaydiebeauty.com

Not everyone gets the same Beautylish Lucky Bag, and I have seen other bags reviewed online with very different products. I am happy with the Natasha Denona Camel Palette, but I wouldn’t have been disappointed if I got the Viseart palette either!

I am satisfied with my bag this year. The value of the bag is well over $164 because I don’t know the retail price of the new Good Molecules Eye Serum. I paid $75 plus delivery for the bag. Even without the serum, I got more than I paid for, and I will use all of the items. If you think you want to get a Beautylish Lucky Bag for 2020, go to the Beautylish website and sign up so they’ll let you know when they become available. They always sell out. And the larger $150 Beautylish Lucky Bag sells out in minutes.

Did you get the 2019 Beautylish Lucky Bag? If so, what did you get? And what do you think about my bag?

  1. I am really very happy for you that you were pleased with your Lucky Bag and you look beautiful in the picture above.
I was extremely disappointed with the Beautylish bag this year. They had said last year (and I think the year before) that their customers whom spend over $1000 have first chance for the XL Bag. I logged in the minute I got my code and as I was checking out my cart was emptied out and they said they sold out. This was within 30 seconds. Upon calling them I was told the XL bags sold out in less than a minute. I was disappointed but did buy the smaller bag which I received and I felt was bottom of the barrel makeup. Worst yet though was reading blogs and watching You Tube videos that said they restocked the XL throughout the day. I spent nearly $2000 dollars with Beautylish last year but can guarantee they have lost a good customer. There are too many places to shop that give nice samples and know how to treat their customers and that is where my money will go this year.

    1. Thank you, Jean, and also thank you for weighing in about your experiences with Beautylish and their Lucky Bags. I am so sorry that happened to you. It’s inconceivable that when you called them, they didn’t tell you they were going to replenish the XL bag. In fact, they should have offered to put one aside for you. I hope you will take the time to write to Beautylish and let them know that they lost a valuable customer. They need to know it. BTW, what did you get in your regular size bag this year? Last year, I kind of felt that I got “bottle of the barrel” products that were ones that we at the end of their run, marked down etc. though the Clean Apothecary Brush Cleanser turned out to be a find. I was lucky this year that I actually got stuff that I am already using. Because I subscribe to Ipsy Glam Bag Plus and get a bunch of full size products every month now for $25, I will most likely pass on Lucky Bag next year.

  2. Paula D says:

Wow … I think you did very well. I know I would be really happy with this selection of products, especially … well .. everything!

    1. Paula, I am definitely delighted with this year’s Beautylish Lucky Bag because I actually got two makeup products that I had wanted to try, and a pricey Wayne Goss brush and Natasha Denona palette that I wouldn’t have spent the money on. I’m enjoying just about every item already!

  3. What a great bag this month! I want that brush.

    1. Just fyi in case anyone is reading the comments: Beautylish Lucky Bag comes out once a year in January!

  4. Ehmkay Nails says:

I love the idea of mystery and lucky bags but never pull the trigger. So glad to see your contents. That ND palette is gorgeous.

  5. I watched quite a few video openings and this year the bags were very similar. I saw every product you got over and over. The Camel palette was in a lot of bags.
When I first opened mine I was a little disappointed but this year Beautylish followed a formula. Everyone got one of two different Good Molecules products and the value is said to be around $6. If it works I’ll be thrilled!
My bag: Viseart Theory palette (one I don’t own!), VDL liquid Primer, Sonia G brush, Good Molecules Eye Serum. The two items I won’t use are the Surratt eyelash curler since I already own it and a red Lime Crime liquid lipstick. The lipstick smells lovely but I don’t wear red.

    1. Once I got my bag, I started looking at Beautylish posts and videos, and that’s when I saw a lot of Viseart palettes. I would have been good with either the Viseart (I don’t think I have Theory), but I like the Natasha Denona and I wouldn’t have paid $48 for it. Marcia, what is the value of the Good Molecules? I’m thinking it was a typo that you typed in $6 – did you mean $60? I hope so! I’m glad that I didn’t get the eyelash curler, and although I do wear red lipstick, I think the cream formula Jouer that still makes my lips dry after a few hours is still a better bet for me. I’m not familiar with the primer that you got. I hope you’ll write about it if you like it. Although I was very happy with my Lucky Bag this year, I will have to see next year if I do it again or not. Now that I get Ipsy Glam Bag Plus, I’m not sure that I want to pay more than $80 for the Lucky Bag. Who knows, I may change my mind and do it again. We’ll see

      1. $6 is the amount that people were saying. It’s supposed to be comparable to the Ordinary. But since it’s not for sale yet we won’t know for sure.
The lip I got is Sugarpill not Lime Crime and I forgot I also got a mini Bioderma which I can always use.

        1. Thank you, Marcia, for clarifying the price. I had no idea that Good Molecules is going to be a competitor of The Ordinary. Those people who were selling the GM eye serum on eBay and Mercari were really reaching then with the prices they were charging! You got a good Lucky Bag too! I know someone will love getting your Sugarpill red lippie. I would have loved the mini BioDerma

  6. Kathryne says:

I’ve been eyeing the ND palette. It looks like a really nice palette to own

    1. Really handy neutral palette. I didn’t know if it would suit me but it does.

  7. I would have been super excited for everything you got in your bag! All fun items! I would love to try ND and the Stila Glitter Shadows are so pretty! And the Jouer lip creme!

    1. I really was happy with my Lucky bag this year! Definitely fun, usable items

  8. This is a great bag, I would be so happy with it. I love my Natasha Denona Nude Mini palette so would be thrilled to get another.

    1. At first, I thought I got the same ND Mini Nude palette that you reviewed and swatched last week, but this is a different one though the shades are similar. It’s one of her midsize palettes (priced at $48) with larger pans than the minis. I love the shades with my blue eyes.

  9. The ND palette is absolutely gorgeous and the Jouer lippie is a color that I would wear all of the time! This was a really good value! I love the look that you created, Allison– you look gorgeous!

    1. Thank you, Helen! I was very pleased to get this Natasha Denona palette, and the shades really do work for me, yay1 I liked my Lucky Bag this year

  10. 25 Sweetpeas says:

The Stila ones are really pretty!

  11. Congratulations on your fun lucky bag! the products look amazing!

  12. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the eye serum. That bag looks like it contained a ton of great products for the price.

  13. This was a good month for sure!!! I love a ton of the products included!

    1. Thanks, Nina!

  14. Laura says:

You scored a fantastic bag! This was an interesting year for bags, I had very mixed feelings about mine personally.

    1. Yes, I read your review, and I am sorry that you weren’t so happy with yours 🙁

  15. That Natasha Denona palette! Oh my word, it’s gorgeous! I’ve never gotten one of these bags, but it looks like you scored with this one!

  16. The palette you got is beautiful. Those are colors I’d get a lot of use out of. The eye serum sounds nice, too. I like that it’s formulated with caffeine and pumpkin! It looks like a very great bag all around and a great value for everything you got!

    1. I’m very happy with everything I got this year!
