Buy Holiday Gifts That Give Back to Those in Need: World Vision Gifts

Many of us have begun making lists of holiday gifts to buy, and some of us have already started shopping. But before you get too deep into it, I’d like to introduce you to a gift option that gives back to those in need.

The faith-based charitable organization, World Vision, contacted me a few weeks ago about their work and their gift catalog. I was somewhat familiar with World Vision from seeing some of their ads on TV to help support children and families. I am pleased to learn more about their good works and how we can get on board.

World Vision helps to support those living in extreme poverty in 32 countries/states throughout the world as well as in the United States. They have a number of ways to help people in need ultimately provide for themselves through:

  • animals: cows, goats, sheep, chicken, and ducks – animals that help a family feed and support itself. Two chickens can be sent to a family for just $25! For larger animals like a cow, you can buy a “share” if the cost of an entire animal is too high.
  • education: helping girls, who ordinarily would not be able to get an education, go to school as well as providing school supplies
  • bicycles: transportation for a child or a family
  • job training especially for women as well as micro-loans to help women start small businesses.

To help those in the U.S., you can feed a family for a day, provide a backpack of school supplies or provide for disaster relief.

And there are other ways to help that you can learn more about on the World Vision online catalog.

Gifts That Give Back

  20. That jewelry set is very pretty. I love supporting things like this. Each year my family and I discuss and work together on something to giving back… we usually just work the local food kitchen but this year we are providing a bunch of food for the food kitchen and cooking. It always makes us feel great and the causes are good no matter how big or how small. 🙂
