Typically, I steer clear of mud masks. My dry skin usually protests. But in the summer, the heat and humidity transforms my dry skin into something else. My pores are more visible, and I actually have occasional breakouts on my chin and either side of my nose. What’s up with that?
So when I had the chance to try the Peat Perfection Purification Mask from Farmhouse Fresh, a brand I absolutely love and whose Pudding Appeal Mask I recently reviewed, I decided to go for it. Everything I have tried from Farmhouse Fresh is so well made and so gentle, I didn’t think using their mud mask would be much of a risk.
In fact, Farmhouse Fresh Peat Perfection Purification Mask (say that fast three times, lol!) was developed to calm irritated skin with allantoin, vitamin C and caffeine-rich organic cucumber extract. Although my skin is not irritated, the mask works for skin that needs a good cleaning, brightening and some pampering.
Peat Purification Mask is nutrient-rich and, not only does it not strip skin like other mud masks can, it contains safflower and soybean oils to balance skin and panthenol to attract and lock in moisture.
I applied the thick, fragrance-free mask made with bentonite and kaolin clays with my fingers to clean skin. In case you’re interested in the origins of the mud, Farmhouse Fresh describes the “peat” as follows: “highly concentrated plant matter harvested from age-old enriched wetland vegetation”. So it is a vegetarian mask.
BTW, here’s my obligatory hideous mask photo.
The peat mask dried within about 10 minutes even on a humid night. Usually I’d be in a hurry to remove a dry mask, but this was so comfortable to wear, I finished reading my magazine before I got around to removing it. I ended up leaving it on for almost a half hour. I washed it off with cool water and a soft facecloth, and my skin felt and looked very clean and moisturized. My skin wasn’t dried out at all. (Wow, do I have a lot of sun damage in spite of wearing sun screen! I need a triple dose of vitamin C!!)
I can definitely use this mask once a week through the rest of the warm weather. I love how Farmhouse Fresh always puts the number of uses on their packaging. The Peat Purification Mask jar contains enough for about 15 uses so I’ve got about 14 more to go!
Farmhouse Fresh Peat Purification Mask contains 3.2 fl. oz.. Priced around $30. Cruelty-free, paraben and sulfate-free. Made in the U.S. 95% natural. Oddly enough, I can’t find this particular mask on the Farnhouse Fresh website, but it is sold on Amazon through Farmhouse Fresh.

Hello Allison! Based on your previous review I caved on the Pudding Appeel Mask. It really did make my skin feel soft and not stripped at all. Yea Me! I own five different FF masks now. Their stuff is expensive but such a treat to use. I did not buy them all at once since Brian would have tilted his head at me with that look. 😉 Oh I also got the Marshmallow Melt balm because of you too. Come to think of it I have had it almost 3 weeks and still have not used it. I keep forgetting. Hope you have been well. I am so tired of all the rain. It has been nonstop for several days now. We needed it but enough already.
Oh no, I don’t mean to be an enabler, Laura! But this is a good mask for when your skin feels like it needs a good cleaning but you want to treat it gently. I’m glad you got the Pudding Appeal Mask – next to oxygen masks, this is my favorite – I love how it feels and smells. The Marshmallow Melt Balm you can save till the colder weather unless your skin is feeling dry and uncomfortable now. I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had so much rain and gloomy weather, Laura! We’re in a drought here. I can’t complain because the weather has been fabulous this summer though not so good for the gardens, lawns and reservoirs. Wish you could come this way! I hope you’re feeling good health-wise.
I may have to request this one, after all. It sounds so refreshing and soothing.

It really cleaned out my skin without stripping or any discomfort. I was amazed. I haven’t used a mud mask in several years because they seem too strong. I think you’d like this one!

The ingredient list is pretty impressive, Allison and I’m really liking how you described the mask. As you already know, I have tons of face masks to go through but definitely adding this to my list to purchase.

I haven’t used a mud mask in years, but this one was so impressive. I know you have a ton of masks but it is worth checking out in the future. Actually, the entire brand – Farmhouse Fresh – is worth getting to know.
I absolutely adore Apeel so I can’t wait to try this. My skin has been both dry and breaking out this summer–yuck!

I found it to be very gentle but very cleansing. I never do mud, but during the hot, humid weather we’ve been having, it felt so good to use this. Hope you like it too. It’s completely different from the lovely Pudding Appeal
As a Farmhouse Fresh devotee I can’t wait to try this. I’m glad you say that it’s fragrance free since the idea of peat isn’t enticing.

To me, it didn’t smell like much of anything. I hope that you feel the same way. I really liked this mask. Completely different from Pudding Appeal but really good for my skin during this hot, humid weather.
I keep seeing this brand pop up on blogs, and I’m so intrigued. I must try something from the line!
