The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Body Butter

What a nice surprise to receive a big, and I mean BIG, tub of personalized Wild Argan Oil Body Butter from The Body Shop! It has my name on it. And the cutest flamingo sporting a Santa hat! Nice way to usher in the holiday season.

I am almost finished with The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Butter that I bought during the spring. I specifically bought it for the fragrance that I hoped I could layer with my Rituals Sakura Foaming Shower Gel and the Rituals Sakura Body Spray, both cherry blossom scented. Unfortunately, the scent wasn’t quite the same as the other products. Nevertheless, I like the body butter.

When I dug into my new jar of Wild Argan Oil Body Butter, I found that it’s even richer and more hydrating than the Cherry Blossom, I assume because of the argan oil. Argan oil comes from nuts that I learned are harvested and cracked by hand for this and other Body Shop products by women in six co-ops in Morocco using Fair Trade practices. The body butter itself is much heavier than the other TBS body butters I’ve tried, and The Body Shop says that this butter gives 24 hour hydration. I’ve been using it especially at night for about a week, and I love the fact the hydration lasts at least till I shower the next morning. I know I will get a lot of use out of this heavy-duty body butter all winter.

Another thing I really like about Wild Argan Oil Body Butter is that it absorbs quickly and doesn’t take too long to rub in. Although I love the 80 Acres Blood Orange Body Butter that I finished up and wrote about yesterday, it is initially white on my skin and takes a bit of rubbing to get the white to go away. Not so with The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Body Butter. Much less rubbing is required.

It does have a rather strong scent. The scent is a bit hard to describe: jungle floral meets nuts??? The scent isn’t actually my favorite, but I love the intense moisturization that I get from this cream so I will definitely continue to use it. If you’re a fan of florals, you may really like this scent.

So I would say this is a terrific rich cream for anyone with dry to very dry skin who can use fragranced skincare products. It’s just the antidote for winter dry skin.

As I mentioned, I received the jumbo 13.5 oz./400 ml tub of The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Body Butter, but it’s available in the regular size that’s 200 ml. The regular size is priced at $21 and the mega size is $36. TBS also has a number of Wild Argan Oil sets for the holidays, one that’s priced at $15! Natural and cruelty-free. Available, of course, at The Body Shop stores and website and also at Birchbox which is great if you have Birchbox points you’d like to use.

I love the container Allison! I’m a fan of argan oil body products and this one seems like a quality product. I have so many creams and lotions right now it will be a while before I buy anything new but the body shop is always an option when I’m in the market for such a product, great review. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Laura! I have quite a few bottle of argan oil that are great for my face as a serum or my hair, but argan oil on its own isn’t enough for my winter dry skin. I wasn’t expecting this huge tub of body butter from TBS, and having my name on the top was a treat. They aren’t exaggerating when they say the hydration lasts for a day and I definitely will be using this this winter. I adore the 80 Acres Blood Orange Olive Oil Body Butter that I just used up coz it smells great and is very hydrating, but surprisingly the Wild Argan Oil Body Butter is even more hydrating – I just wish I liked the scent better but fortunately it fades fast. I know what you mean about having a lot of creams and lotions. I am working on using up what I’ve got. I have a jar of Moroccan Oil body butter that I love the scent of, but I haven’t opened it yet coz I was trying to use up things I already had open. I’m paddling upstream on that task, lol.

  2. I have been putting all my body creams away and mostly am using body oils which helps my dry skin a huge ton. I need to give this a sniff, not sure if I’ll like the scent…well, truthfully, I’m not sure if my husband will like the scent. Haha!

    1. That’s so interesting, Shireen. Which body oils are you using? You’re going to laugh because my skin is so dry that body oil isn’t hydrating enough for me in the winter, for summer it’s great. I love Farmhouse Fresh body oil because it smells great but for some reason that brand stays in my skin longer than some of the other body oils I’ve tried. This argan oil cream from TBS is amazing for long-lasting hydration for me (the 24 hour claim is not an exaggeration), but I’m not a big fan of the scent so your mister might have to steer clear for about 5 minutes. Fortunately, the scent fades pretty quickly, but that said, it’s not as much fun to apply as the fabulous orange-scented 80 Acres Blood Orange Olive Oil Body Butter.

      1. I’m currently using Palmer’s Body oil, there’s a few under the brand and I love them all. 🙂

  4. Why am I laughing my ass off at “jungle floral meets nuts?”

But seriously, I love a good body butter that sinks right in, doesn’t leave me greasy or sticky and makes my skin soft.

  5. Love the flamingo on the lid. I’ve just opened an argan oil product – let’s see how my skin likes it. I’ll do an argan binge if it keeps reptilian fish scales at bay in the dry months.

This sounds lovely – I’ve never tried the Argan Oil body butter but I do have the solid oil balm. It’s very nourishing. I’ll have to check out the scent in the store… sounds interesting?

  10. Are these tubs not the cutest?! The Argan Oil scent isn’t my fave either, but it is one of the most moisturizing formulas that I’ve tried. My faves are Honeymania and Shea Butter.

    1. The Satsuma is a great scent. This one is more hydrating for my super dry skin than the regular ones, so even though I don’t love the scent as much as others, I love the performance

    1. I hope you’re feeling better, Honey. I think even you could smell this one, lol. But it works so well. And the personalization is so cute!

  17. I’m obsessed with using body butters to keep my skin soft during the winter but I’m not into the heavy fragrances. Loving that this butter has argan oil in it though so I may still try it out after I finish my current jar of Kiehl’s.
