Promise Organic Skincare: Affordable Better-For-You Products at CVS

When I spend my own money on beauty products, I’m all about the most bang I can get for my buck. I’m always on the hunt for affordable prices and a great deal from a quality brand. Now I have a new affordable skincare brand that I think you need to know about. Promise Organic sold exclusively at CVS.

Promotional Product & Links

A few months ago, I noticed a new display at my local CVS with a whole host of attractively packaged 100% natural skincare products. They got my attention because they were so modern and so fresh looking. I made a mental note to come back to try them. But recently, I received a box of several of the Promise Organic products to try out.

Promise Organic makes face (cleanser, towelettes, face cream, face lotion, oil) and body care (body lotion and body wash) products for:

  • normal to combination skin: their coconut milk line
  • normal to dry skin: their argan oil line
  • sunscreen products.

Here’s what I tried and what I think about them. I have dry skin so if I were purchasing, I would probably try the Argan Oil line exclusively to meet my specific needs. But I received a number of coconut milk products, so keep in mind that my skin is super dry.

Coconut Milk Product Line for Normal to Combination Skin

Promise Organic Nourishing Coconut Milk Body Lotion with Cupuacu Butter

Promise Organic Coconut Milk Body Lotion, neversaydiebeauty.com

This taupe colored body cream comes in a plastic tube, and it has a lovely light coconut/floral scent. It applies easily, doesn’t leave a white residue that has to be rubbed in, and it softens on contact. While it is not quite hydrating enough for my super dry skin, I enjoy using it. I think it would be perfect for the vast majority of women, especially younger women without desert-dry skin like mine. This would be a great body lotion to keep in my beach bag during the summer. I am planning to try the Argan Oil version of the body lotion that uses aloe rather than water in the formula. 6 fl. oz. $8.99.

Ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Juice, Organic Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Organic SD Alcohol 38-B, Aqua (and) Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters (and) Jojoba Esters, Organic Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Organic Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Natural Fragrance, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut Milk) Extract, Cetyl Alcohol, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Organic Theobroma Grandiflorum (Cupuacu) Seed Butter, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Xanthan Gum, Sodium Phytate & Water, Citric Acid

Promise Organic Nourishing Coconut Milk Face Lotion with Hibiscus

Promise Organic Coconut Milk Facial Lotion, neversaydiebeauty.com

Like the Coconut Milk Body Lotion, the Facial Lotion is really a cream and it also comes in a plastic tube, is taupe in color and has the same light, pleasant coconut/floral scent. It sinks into my skin on contact, and it is completely greaseless. Again, my desert-dry skin could use something heavier during the still cold winter in New England. I think if you have normal to combination skin and don’t mind a lightweight fragrance that disappears immediately, you’d love this face cream. 1.7 fl.oz. $14.99.

Ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Juice, Organic Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Organic SD Alcohol 38-B, Aqua (and) Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters (and) Jojoba Esters, Organic Glycerin, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Organic Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Natural Fragrance, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut Milk) Extract, Cetyl Alcohol, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Organic Theobroma Grandiflorum (Cupuacu) Seed Butter, Organic Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Xanthan Gum, Sodium Phytate & Water, Citric Acid

Promise Organic Nourishing Coconut Milk Daily Facial Scrub with Sugar and Walnut

Promise Organic Coconut Milk Daily Facial Scrub in travel and regular size tubes, neversaydiebeauty.com

Again like the other products in the line, the Daily Facial Scrub comes in a handy plastic tube. I received a travel size tube in a recent ipsy or Birchbox so I have both sizes now. This time, the Scrub is a translucent brownish gel that contains bits of sugar and finely ground walnut. My very dry skin is also sensitive, so this scrub is not really for me. The sugar crystals hurt my skin if I use it too often. Yet it leaves my skin feeling very clean. Again, if you have normal to combination skin, I think you’d like it a lot, though everyday might still be a bit too often to use it. 3 fl. oz. $9.99.

Ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Juice, Coco Glucoside, Sodium Coco Sulfate, Organic Glycerin, Lauryl Glucoside, Decyl Glucoside, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Sodium Chloride, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut Milk) Extract, Natural Fragrance, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Organic Carica Papaya (Papaya) Leaf Extract, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate

Argan Oil Product Line for Normal to Dry Skin

Promise Organic Ultra Moisturizing Argan Creme Facial Cream wth Avocado

Promise Organic Argan Creme Facial Cream, neversaydiebeauty.com

The Argan Creme Facial Cream with Avocado comes in a pump bottle that I like a lot. The cream itself is beige, and it feels very hydrating. It is much dewier than the Coconut Milk Face Lotion, and it feels more nourishing for my super dry skin. It dries with a velvet finish. This really is the right product line for my needs. It has the faintest sweet scent that goes away instantly. 1.7 fl. oz. $14.99.

Ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Juice, Organic Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Organic SD Alcohol 38-B, Aqua (and) Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters (and) Jojoba Esters, Organic Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Organic Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Organic Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Organic Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Organic Theobroma Grandiflorum (Cupuacu) Seed Butter, Organic Cymbopogon Martini (Palmarosa) Oil, Organic Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Xanthan Gum, Sodium Phytate & Water, Citric Acid

Promise Organic Ultra Moisturizing Argan Oil, A Blend with Jojoba

Promise Organic Argan Oil with Jojoba, neversaydiebeauty.com

I own several different brands of argan oil already, and I like them a lot for my hair and nails. The new Promise Organic Argan Oil is blended with a variety of oils: safflower oil,  jojoba oil, orange peel oil, coconut oil, pomegranate seed oil, reship oil, and palmarosa oil in addition to argan oil. In fact, the first ingredient is safflower oil. So IMHO, this is a different oil altogether. That said, this oil is very lightweight, and it sinks it immediately and is essentially greaseless. It is also fragrance-free. I really enjoy applying it to my nails and cuticles every night, and I don’t need to wear gloves over it. It’s also great to apply a drop or two to my face before wearing moisturizer during this extremely cold spell that we’re going through. I would say this is a nice alternative to straight argan oil. 3.4 fl. oz. (This product must be very new because I couldn’t find it online at the Promise Organic website or on CVS.com.)

Overall Characteristics and Benefits of Promise Organic

The brand’s mission is to combine the most recent anti-aging skincare research with high performance 100% naturally derived ingredients at an affordable price point. A number of the ingredients are also organic: aloe, shea butter, essential oils and plant extracts. They are certified to NSF ANSI 305 standards that means: “it contains at least 70 percent certified organic ingredients but does not meet the NOP food-focused requirements due to processes and methods used in body care production.”

The products are dermatologist tested, pH balanced and safe for sensitive skin (although for me, the Coconut Daily Scrub was a little too abrasive for my sensitive dry skin).

Promise Organic does not test on animals. It is parabens-free, has no harsh sulfates, silicones, artificial colorants, or synthetic fragrances. The attractive packaging is recycled. The products are made in the U.S.

You can purchase Promise Organic on the Promise Organic website or at cvs.com. Promise Organic donates 1% of their sales to environmental charities and programs, and if you go to their website, you can weigh in on which charities they should contribute to.

I’ve been very happy with the Promise Organic products I’ve tried, and I would like to try their Argan Oil Cleanser and Body Lotion next. At CVS, I can use my coupons and cash back to do so, yay! Have you tried any of the Promise Organic skincare products from CVS yet?
