New Makeup from glo-minerals for Spring 2017 and Mattifying Primer Giveaway!

I’ve written about glo-minerals Bold Pursuits Holiday 2016 Makeup Collection and also glo-therapeutics Cyto-luxe skincare in the past. I’m a big fan of both product lines. I was happy to receive a selection of glo-minerals new products for Spring 2017.

I received two new primer products – Shadow Primer and Mattifying Primer – and two new shades of lipstick that are so perfect for spring.

Pretty Persuasion Lipsticks

Let’s start with color and talk about the lipsticks! The two lipsticks were featured in the glo-minerals Pretty Persuasion Holiday 2016 Collection. Because the shades were so popular, they made a comeback for Spring 2017. I’m glad they did because the highly pigmented shades are perfect spring colors:

  • organza: creamy petal nude
  • fixation: electric watermelon.

I love the fact that one is a beautiful nude and the other a striking, bright shade. When I first saw organza, I was afraid it might be too light for me but thankfully, I was wrong. It has just the right amount of peach to have presence on my lips and not make me look washed out. Also, I don’t have any shades that are like this, so it is a welcome addition to my stash. In fact, I adore organza. It has become my new everyday go-to shade!

Similarly, fixation is unlike any lipstick shade I own. The color really is watermelon: bright without shouting.

glo-minerals describes the Pretty Persuasion formula as long-wear. I get several hours of wear from each of them. There is only a very slight transfer onto a glass, and there is no need for a touchup after drinking. After eating anything but a greasy or oily meal you can still see the lipstick, though a touchup is required to make it look as crisp as it does without eating.

Both lipsticks are easy to apply, and they don’t require a lip liner. I would describe the formula as matte but comfortable even for me with my ultra-dry lips to wear without any balm. It’s neither hydrating nor drying. It’s a great matte IMHO!

The price is $20 for 3.4 g/0.12 oz. The following ingredients are for Fixation.

Shadow Primer

glo-minerals Shadow Primer arrived just in time because I needed a new eye primer. My long-time favorite, Urban Decay Anti-aging Eye Primer, not only changed by adding an unnecessary doe-foot sponge applicator but UD seems to have changed the formula too, and as a result, they have lost me. I was happy to give glo-minerals Shadow Primer a try.

Right off the bat, I like that glo-minerals Shadow Primer comes in a slim tube with no applicator. I like to apply eye primer with my fingertips. Shadow Primer has a mousse-like consistency, very creamy. A little goes a very long way. In fact, I wish the hole in the tip was even smaller than it is because I often squeeze out too much for one eye. The primer has some color to it that helps cover the redness of my eyelids (a good thing). The consistency is very silky, and it takes a minute or two to dry down before I can apply my eyeshadow. It works well, is creaseless, greaseless and the effects are long-lasting. I like this eye primer. I just have to learn to regulate how hard I squeeze the tube so I don’t squeeze out too much.

$20 for 0.33 fl.oz./10 g.

Mattifying Primer

Since I have such dry skin, I know that Mattifying Primer is not for me. I need all the moisture I can get from a primer and I have nothing to mattify, lol! So rather than test this and have it sit around unused in my makeup stash, I’m giving it away. So I can’t give you my opinion about it. Instead, I’ll tell you what glo-minerals says about it.

“Instantly deshine, refine and target areas of excess oil production with this silky, oil free primer. Preps and perfects skin with a smooth, invisible matte finish that helps eliminate shine, fill in fine lines and minimize the appearance of pores while extending the wear of your makeup.”

Wow, sounds great! I almost wish I had oily skin, lol.

glo-minerals Mattifying Primer is a water-based primer. It’s priced at $34 for 1 fl. oz./30 ml.

glo-minerals is cruelty-free mineral makeup, and it’s made in the U.S. You can purchase glo-minerals makeup and glo-therapeutics skincare on the glo-professional website or on many other fine online cosmetics retailers such as lovelyskin.com, skin1.com etc.

GIVEAWAY!

As I just mentioned, the glo-minerals Mattifying Primer is made specifically for oily skin, so I thought I should give it away to someone with oily or combination skin who could use it and enjoy it. If you have dry skin like me, this Mattifying Primer is NOT for you!

The giveaway is limited to U.S. residents, age 18+, where permitted by law. It’s open to all U.S. residents unless you were the winner of the recent Luscious Lips Lip Pump giveaway, the Runway Rogue Lipstick giveaway or the MyChelle Sun Shield Liquid Tint giveaways. This will also be a rather quick giveaway, 10 days long, and it will run till Monday, March 20, 2017 at 12:00AM EDT. So the last full day is Sunday, March 19.

Hopefully by now, you know the drill. You MUST LEAVE A COMMENT on this blogpost about why you want to win the glo-minerals Mattifying Primer or who you’d gift it to if it’s not for yourself. 1. Yes, I am, Shireen. I just finished up glo-therapeutics Cyto-luxe Toner, and it was terrific. These lipsticks are wonderful and I like the shadow primer, but even in summer my face isn’t the least bit oily so I am better off giving it to someone who can really use it 🙂

  9. Laura Sorvillo says:

Those lipsticks look great Allison. I definitely would love Organza. I’ve never tried a mattifying primer, I always end up swiping some sort of setting powder over my T zone, it would be interesting to see if a primer could eliminate that as I’m not a huge fan of any setting powder. I try them and once in a while I think I’ve found a great one but they all at some point end up setting into my lines. 🙁 Great review and giveaway! 🙂

    1. The ingredients like Kaolin in the Mattifying Primer definitely seem like they would do the job! I’m glad you entered, Laura! Thank you and good luck 🙂

    2. And you did!! Congrats Lyndsey, you won the GloMinerals Mattifying Primer!

      1. Lyndsey R. says:

Yay!!!! So exciting. I emailed you back. Thanks again love!

  29. Mahdi Martin says:

I’ve never tried anything from Glo Minerals, not even the tiniest sample. I’m currently using Cover FX illuminating primer. It is about as far from matte primer as it gets. My skin tends to be dry, and I wonder how this would perform for me.

    1. If your skin is dry, Mahdi, GloMinerals Mattifying Primer really isn’t for you. It has kaolin clay to absorb oil, and if you don’t have much oil on your skin, you don’t want to absorb it, IMHO. That’s why I’m giving it away instead of trying it for review myself! Maybe sit this one out, or give it to a friend with oily skin??

  30. Mahdi Martin says:

Eek. If I do win, I probably will end up giving it to one of my sisters. I enjoy spreading my enthusiasm for nice beauty products. I like to fill a makeup bag with goodies. It gave me satisfaction when my sister said to me last week, “I am in love with that foundation you gave me!”

    1. That sounds perfect, Mahdi! In case you won, I didn’t want you to be disappointed. But sharing your makeup enthusiasm with your sister is wonderful! Thanks for entering and good luck 🙂

  33. Tracy Robertson says:

I want to win because I love primer! I have never quite found the perfect foundation so I don’t use that, but primer is my foundation since it smooths the appearance of my skin and is almost impossible to mess up on.

    1. That’s interesting, Tracy. I haven’t heard of using primer in place of foundation, but why not? If you have good skin and don’t need color coverage, that makes sense. This Mattifying Primer based on the ingredient list looks perfect for oily or combination skin. Thanks for entering and good luck!
