I am pooped. Completely exhausted. I gave a dinner party for friends who haven’t been over for dinner in a few years, and I was surprised at how much work it was! Here’s the table setting (without the pretty pink wine glasses unfortunately.)
Our dinner went on until about midnight.
I must be getting old or maybe it was the three glasses of wine. As a result, today’s post is going to be a short one.
My friend Sybille surprised me with a lovely hostess gift. She shouldn’t have, but I love it and I’m so happy to have it! Capri Blue Muse scented candle in a beautiful retro cut glass jar. The fragrance is Modern Mint.
I am particularly in love with the cut glass jar that the candle comes in. Many years ago, my grandmother had a cut glass powder jar on her vanity, and I always admired it. When I use up the candle, I’ll be able to fill the jar with powder or with trinkets and keep it on my vanity.
Have you ever heard of Capri Blue? I was not familiar with this scented products brand. Capri Blue has 13 signature scents that all sound enticing: Modern Mint, Volcano, Blue Jean, Aloha Orchid, Cactus Flower, Paris, Pomegranate Citrus, Rain, just to name a few. They are hand-poured in Mississippi according to eco-friendly practices.
Although luxury scented candles in a variety of attractive containers in different sizes and style collections seem to be Capri Blue’s claim to fame, they also have travel candles, reed diffusers and room spray. In addition, they make a couple of beauty products: hand cream in two sizes and bar soap.
If you like to have hostess gifts or other small gifts on hand in case an occasion comes up, check out Capri Blue’s website for some great gift ideas. Prices range from $12-66. Modern Mint from the Muse collection was priced at $36 for 11 oz., a very generous candle.

The table looked so pretty with the wine glasses on it but I took them off and put them out with the appetizers, and Jeff snapped the photo afterwards. Still springy looking I think 🙂 The French daube beef stew with mushrooms, red wine and orange peel came out great, and I made it the day before so the flavors intensified and I was able to do other things that day off. So nice to entertain. I went to bed early last night and feel much more energetic today!

I was so exhausted yesterday, DiEtta, I struggled to keep my eyes open. Usually I don’t go to bed till at least 1am or later. Last night, I shut off the light around 10:30. Feel much better today! The dinner actually was delicious. I made a French daube (beef stew) with red wine and orange peel, so yummy! Jeff made a fabulous banana cream pie for dessert. But most of all we had a lot of laughs 🙂 The candle is so pretty. I am in love with the glass jar it is in.
Oh gosh, I have to agree how much work and effort goes into preparing a dinner party. We had one yesterday and all I did was cleaned the house and made some finger food but damn, I was pooped by the end of it. LOL!

Modern Mint is a very subtle neutral scent with a hint of mint. Unobtrusive but fresh smelling.
I love how decorative the candle is. I actually hadn’t heard of this line of candles, but I’m a candle lover so I’ll have to check them out
I hadn’t heard of Capri Blue either, Lisa. My friend bought it at a boutique in the cute tourist town near where she lives. I love it because it’s so different from any other candle I own. I like that the candle itself doesn’t turn black after I blow out the flame – it still looks pretty and new.

What a nice gift! I LOVE candles and even more when they are in pretty packaging. My mom had a cut glass jar like this with a pewter top with her initials engraved that I have on my bedside table now.

The Capri Blue Modern Mint does smell lovely. It is a subtle minty scent with another note that I can’t quite identify in it. Lovely

PJ, I was the luckiest person when I lived in NYC quite some time ago. I had a 7 room apartment on 104 & WEA! I hated to give it up. My dining room in my NYC apartment was actually bigger than the one in my house, lol! But this one is probably prettier. We had a lot of fun. The MUSE candle is soooooo luxe. In fact, I saw it the other day at Nordstrom in the gift department. It was a generous gift from my friend.
