I love the beach. It’s truly my happy place. I’ve posted lots of photos from my favorite, Good Harbor Beach.
But even though I always wear sunscreen and sit under a small umbrella, I need more protection from the sun’s rays. I am covered with dark spots so I try to cover up as much of my skin as I can.
A couple of months ago, I was approached by Hydrochic, the manufacturer of UV ActiveWear to try out one of their garments. Hydrochic makes tops, skirts and leggings for sports or swimming that provide protection from the sun (UPF 50+ fabric) as well as modesty for those of us who may want to more coverage at the beach. Some of their garments are chlorine proof for those of you who swim in pools. Hydrochic’s attractively designed, modern activewear is something you would want to rather than have to wear. And they have something for everyone: their size range includes plus sizes and maternity apparel. They make really cute options in bright colors for girls as well. I was definitely interested in this opportunity.
Back in April, they sent me the “Baseball Babe Inspired” 3/4 length sleeve top that I selected from their extensive product line.
I was amazed when I saw how many different designs, patterns and styles they have. They make sleeveless, short sleeve and long sleeve tops in addition to my 3/4 sleeve choice. They make skirts, skorts, leggings, and bikini bottoms. Take a look at the variety here!
Because we had such a cold, rainy spring here in Massachusetts, I just started going to the beach a couple of weeks ago. And because the ocean water temperature has hovered around 60 degrees, I haven’t actually gone into the water yet to swim because it’s like ice. Nevertheless, we’re in the heart of the summer now, so I didn’t want to wait any longer before letting you know about Hydrochic.
So far, I’ve been wearing my lightweight, breathable Hydrochic top primarily to keep me warm and to protect me from the sun at the beach. I will be able to wear this top in the ocean to swim when it finally warms up enough to go in! I can tell that it will be a quick drying fabric because it’s so lightweight. The fabric is very soft, and it feels good to wear it. It’s easy to take care of by rinsing it out with gentle detergent. You can put it in the washing machine on gentle, but I think it’s just as easy to hand wash it. It dries in a snap!
I am wearing a size medium, and it fits perfectly. I like the fact that it’s not boxy but has a feminine shape. Also it’s not too tight. I’m wearing it over my swimsuit in this photo that my aunt snapped of me last week when we got back from the beach.
I’m delighted by my Hydrochic top! It goes in my beach bag every time I head to the beach. What a cute shirt! I agree that sunscreen and an umbrella alone are not enough. This is definitely worth having. I love how it looks on you, too!

My son loves these! I got him a few different boys style ones for biking, swimming and general outdoors play
It’s really a versatile top. I plan to wear it outdoors in the fall too for tennis or jogging.

I really like my Hydrochic top. I had been in the market for one so I was thrilled when the opportunity came along. I think I’ll wear it even as the temps get a little lower when I’m outdoors jogging in the fall.
