This weekend, Jeff was in Atlanta visiting his daughter. So I had a chance to do things that I wanted to do. I got a headstart on holiday and birthday shopping, and I picked up a couple of things for myself. But what I was so eager to do was to go to Colby Farms in Newbury MA to see their big field of sunflowers. There was a long line of cars with a 45 minute wait to get into the farm’s parking lot, but I ditched my little old Miata alongside the road, and I walked in.
What a sight! So many sunflowers in full bloom. And they all turned their faces toward the sun! There were pathways into the flowers as you can see from the photo below. But I didn’t go in. The flowers were taller than I was. Plus, besides the spectacle of it all, there were lots and lots of honeybees having a grand old time. I was so happy to see them, but since I’m allergic to bee, wasp and yellow jacket stings, I didn’t want to take a chance especially since I was on my own. The place was also teaming with people and their kids, taking photos of their families and friends posing against the stunning sunflowers. I had to get into the act. What a beautiful afternoon!

Have you been to a sunflower field like this?
Fashion Flash “Hurricane” Edition
This week, Fashion Flash is being hosted by the lovely Marcia of Beauty Info Zone. We lost a couple of members this week who were affected by Hurricane Irma, though thankfully they came through OK and they’ll be back soon. Hop over to Beauty Info Zone and relax with this week’s edition of the online lifestyle, beauty, fashion, travel, exercise, health, and second act of life mini-mag! There are lots of informative and fascinating articles: skincare for eyes/lips/hands, liquid lipstick shades outside of our comfort zone, train travel trips throughout Europe, how to get optimal calcium absorption, how to care for skin during cancer treatment, how to bounce back from a physical setback, and a radio podcast by one of my favorite beauty bloggers, Sheila from Painted Ladies. Check ’em out!
On another topic, I have a minor medical procedure on Wednesday, and I’ve got a lot going on. So I may miss a day or two this week (like today’s post), but hopefully I’ll get my act together and still get something up. But if I don’t post on Thursday, I hope I’ll be back on Friday. xoxo
Oh wow! That must have been quite the sight, Allison!

It was soooooo beautiful. I had seen a movie that had a segment that was filmed in a sunflower field in eastern Europe, and it stayed with me for years so I was dying to see this local field.
“BEAUTIFUL ❤️🌻🌻!” Nature can put on a beautiful show for us! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼I got to see the lavender fields when we visited our friends in Delaware and it was so so amazing. Thanks for sharing. Allison take care of yourself ……….🙋🏻☕️☕️
I once saw the lavender fields in Provence, and you are right, they are a sight to behold! Thank you, DiEtta!
There is a beautiful Lavender Farm over by Lake Michigan about a hour away from me. I plan to go there next summer.
That sounds like paradise, Sandy! I hope you get to go to the farm while the lavender is in bloom next summer
Love this post! My late husband loved sun flowers. Since his college colors are brown and gold my daughter had a beautiful standing arrangement made with sunflowers for his Memorial.
Let’s say that this beautiful sunflower field is dedicated to his memory, Sandy! That’s wonderful that your daughter arranged for such a beautiful tribute xo
Aw, you are so sweet!
Love the choice of tunes for the video, Allison! 🙂
Wish I could take credit for it, Kim. It came with the Animoto!
