My June 2018 Ipsy bag arrived on Friday.

The theme is Flying Colors, and the heavy plastic makeup bag in three stripes of pink, salmon and coral is right up my alley – my favorite shades!

So what did I get?

The first thing that I noticed was a travel size jar of my current favorite eye gel-cream from Belif: Moisturizing Eye Bomb. In fact, I just wrote about it a couple of weeks ago. I think I got a travel size jar in my now cancelled Sephora Play bag a couple of months ago, and it was love at first use. I am making my way through the full size jar I bought in April, so I’m very happy to get this little jar.

The next thing that jumped out at me was Peripera Tint Water Lip Tint in shade #1, Cherry Juice. I have loved watery, long-wearing tints for lips or cheeks for decades. Clinique had one back in the 80s that I adored. Benefit has one that’s great. So I was happy to get this one from Peripera, a brand I am unfamiliar with. The sample came in the cutest little cardboard “pocketbook” style box. The sample itself looks like a mini milk bottle (so cute!), and it has a slant doe-foot applicator inside.

The Cherry Juice tint is a pretty warm red shade that’s good for me. It’s non-drying and long wearing. Because it’s a liquid and can bleed till it dries down, I wear it with a lipliner. I love it!

Ipsy must have finally listened to people screaming, “no more black eyeliners” because this month I received a brown eyeliner pencil from Beauty For Real I-Line Eyeliner Pencil in the shade Whiskey. It’s very pretty, easy and smooth to apply. So far, so good. Actually, this is the second brown eyeliner I’ve gotten from Ipsy in the past few months. Hopefully, they’ll send navy blue or purple next time. $14 for 0.01 oz. full size

I have about a million exfoliator samples in my stash, but now I have one more: Hey Honey Come Clean Propolis & Mineral Facial Scrub. Just as a reminder, “Propolis is commonly used for its healing, antiseptic and restorative capabilities. Propolis will assist in balancing, healing and soothing problematic skin. It also accelerates the rate of cell growth and decongests pores. Propolis protects against bacteria and functions as a great anti-inflammatory agent.” So propolis isn’t vegan, but it has beneficial skincare benefits for those of us who aren’t. I used Hey Honey Facial Scrub, and it is a good exfoliator and highly hydrating. It’s a good once a week scrub for those of us with dry skin. It’s sold at Walgreens, Ulta, QVC, and Dermstore among others. $24 full size

Last, I received a little tube of MAC Prep+Prime Skin Base Visage. I’m one of the few people on earth who has never used Prep+Prime. I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet because I have been wearing my resurrected IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Foundation SPF 50 since I discovered that I really like it when I don’t wear it with primer.

I am very happy with this month’s Ipsy bag. I love the bag itself. I couldn’t be happier to receive the Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb, and I love the Lip Tint. I will definitely use the Beauty For Real brown eyeliner. And both the Hey Honey Scrub and Prep+Prime will get used too. Still worth the $10 for me since the Beauty For Real I-Line Eyeliner Pencil is worth $14 on its own.

On another topic, I mentioned that I got a mascara sample from MAC when I purchased my new Layin’ Low Paint Pot cream eyeshadow. I tried out the mascara with high hopes because I love the MAC Upward Lash mascara that I got a sample of and have purchased several times since. This time, I don’t know if I got a bad sample of MAC In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash, but the formula is so dry that it doesn’t deposit any color. It just leaves some clumps on my lashes. I’m tossing it. Boo.

  1. The bag itself is absolutely charming, and the color scheme is absolutely perfect for you, Allison! What a nice selection of products this month!

    1. This month’s Ipsy bag truly is suited to me especially the color scheme. I’m lucky I didn’t get the other option that’s shades of yellow!

  2. I am with you on Mac Prep and Prime, I have yet to try it either! I know so many people swear by it though.

    1. I put some of the MAC Prep+Prime Skin Base Visage on the back of my hand, and it’s sheer, lightweight, matte, and smooth and silicone. I think I’m going to like it!

I think the Prep+Prime base is decent, and it seems to work fine with the foundations I use the most. It’s a little sparkly for my taste, so I would never EVER just wear it with powder and not a good medium coverage foundation, but since I pretty much always have a free sample tube, I can deal.
This month’s bag is really cute. Yay for the Belif sample, and the colour on that tint looks divine. Just like a jar of maraschino cherries. Does it stay red for you? I have a love/hate relationship with products of that colour. It’s so inviting with it’s cheerful popsicle vibe, but ten minutes later my lips seem to turn the colour into bright pink instead. Not that I necessarily hate bright pink, but when you’re going for red you want red. Not neon. LOL

    1. Yes, Rach, the lip tint does stay red for me. After a few hours it fades, but it doesn’t turn pink. I still haven’t used the Prep+Prime but I will soon. I just put some on the back of my hand, and it comes out of the tube translucent white and has no color on my skin. It feels smooth like a silicone primer. This one has no sparkle whatsoever. There’s several Prep+Prime products, I think: this one is Skin Base Visage.

      1. rach says:

Yep, the two tubes I have look just like yours and that’s what they’re labeled as- Skin Base Visage. And they’re both sparkly. What’s up with that?!? Reviews on the MAC site also have some people complaining about sparkle while others say it’s not. Weird.

        1. That is soooooooo weird. No sparkle at all here. BTW, I applied the Cherry Juice lip tint about 2 hours ago, and the color has faded but uniformly (though the lipliner I put on hasn’t, lol). The faded shade now is pinkish MLBB, but it took a while to get to this point.

          1. rach says:

Good to know! I used to be obsessed with finding the perfect popscicle/maraschino cherry lipcolour. Too many hot pink incidents later…I’ve slowed down a bit, hehe. But if I see this one somewhere I’ll give it a looksie instead of my usual “oh that colour NEVER works out” automatic-pass. Not that I’m severely lacking in lipcolour options at the moment though, lol 😛

          2. You know, save your money for something better! I am enjoying this lip tint and a couple of other lip and cheek tints that I got in my ipsy bags, but they really do fade too quickly to make them worth while. I kind of like wearing them on a day when I can’t easily reapply my lipstick (I don’t usually wear liquid matte lipstick because of my dry lips) so I’ll wear this because it still looks like I’ve got something on.

  4. I really like the theme!

  5. When I got my bag the first thing I was excited about was the Belief since it made me remember your review. I haven’t tried it yet since I’m in testing mode but I can’t wait to do so. My bag this month had products I’ll actually use. Last month I did a giveaway for almost my entire bag but this month I’m keeping all but a nude nail polish that won’t look good on me. I even will use the bag this time.

    1. I hope I didn’t oversell the Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb, Marcia, but I truly do love it. I’m 2/3 of the way through the full size, and I will definitely buy another when it’s empty. Glad you got usable stuff this month!

  6. I miss my Ipsy bags! I’m really considering signing back up, even all the way here in Canada! I just hope there are no customs hassles, etc

    1. I think Ipsy is available in Canada???

  7. That tiny lip tint is such a pretty color! Good to know it’s non-drying, because some tints can be. I also agree with you on the eye cream – I finally had a chance to try it, and it’s very lovely indeed.

  8. I also got the Belif Eye Bomb in another subscription box but I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. I’ve always been curious about the Peri Pera tints, they’re always so cute!

    1. I like liquid lip and cheek tints, though it’s necessary to wear a lip liner with it. I wasn’t familiar with Peri Pera before trying this. I need to go to their website. Like you, I first got the Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb in my Sephora Play bag, and I liked it so much I bought the full size jar that’s now 2/3 empty. So I was glad to get another travel size from Ipsy 🙂
