In Time for Fall, Berkshire Anklets

Sadly, I have put away my sandals, though I am hoping that we may have some Indian Summer days at some point before the real cold weather hits.

When I wear shoes, I wear socks or stockings. In fact, for years, I wore nylon knee-highs, and sometimes I still do. But when we were in Amsterdam, I discovered nylon anklets in a private label store, Hema, where products were very affordable. I loved wearing the nylon anklets because they didn’t show a tell tale line where the elastic is under my skinny jeans like knee-highs can. The only drawback to the nylon anklets is that they run, just like stockings can. Boo. I tried to get back to Hema to buy some more before we left Amsterdam, but I never got there. When we got home, I found nylon anklets here, and I had to buy a bunch because, as I said before, they run!

Recently, I received a care package with a variety of stockings from Berkshire Hosiery. I have a real soft spot for the Berkshire brand of hose because years ago, my father used to do business with Berkshire. Whenever he came to New York on business and called on them, he always brought me lots and lots of Berkshire pantyhose. I loved it because back then I wore pantyhose every day to work in New York with a suit, dress or skirt. I can’t believe it did that!

These days, Berkshire makes all kind of hose – do people still say “hose” anymore? What are they called: socks and stockings? At any rate, they makes lots of different styles out of lots of different fabrics, and I received a number of them. But today, I’m concentrating on my new favorite, the anklets!

Anklets can be worn with a skirt so they really stand out as a fashion accessory. I love the look. If I were younger and if I didn’t have such big calves from jogging all these years, I’d consider it because I think they look so cute. But I wear my anklets with jeans or pants.

The pair that I am most in love with for right now are the Opaque Dots. They’re black with small whitish/greyish dots that are adorable and fun.

I’ve started rolling up my jeans so the dots show  🙂

Another great thing about these dotted anklets is that they’re lightweight, super lightweight. Especially at the beginning of fall when my feet rebel at going into shoes, lightweight socks, almost as lightweight as nylons, feel really good because they let my feet breathe. The socks have a gently elasticized band at the top with a bit of scalloping. I love that when I take them off at the end of the day, I don’t have deep impressions around my ankles, thank you very much! Finally, these socks are easily rinsed out in the sink with gentle detergent, a hand cleanser or Dr. Bronner’s. Because they’re so light, almost sheer but not really, they dry overnight.

The second pair is for even cooler weather, Cozy Hose. They have a plush lining that makes them warmer and also cozy to wear. I’m mostly saving these for when the temperature dips a little more. Even though these anklets are plush lined, they don’t look or feel thick on my feet, just warm.

They’re surprisingly lightweight and they don’t make my shoes feel tight like cotton or wool socks can. Like the Opaque Dots, they have a scalloped elasticized comfy top. And like Opaque Dots, these are easily hand washed. I love the Cozy Hose, too.

Both Opaque Dots and Cozy Hose come in Regular (sizes 6-9) and Plus (sizes 9-12). The anklets are priced at $6 each or 3 for $15 – that’s the MSRP, though I have seen different prices at various sites on line. Berkshire stockings can be purchased at Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, Nordstrom, barenecessities.com, and eBershire.com where you can find all of their offerings. I know I will buy a couple of more pairs of both of these styles because I will wear them all the time. Though I have a bunch of cotton anklet socks that I used to wear with jeans for casual occasions, I strongly prefer these comfortable, attractive anklets from Berkshire.

Berkshire is made in the U.S. from high quality materials. I’ve been wearing this brand for years, and I am always happy with Berkshire products! Stay tuned for the other stockings I will show you soon.

  1. Those look nice on you – I rarely wear any kind of socks these days unless I’m working out, but when I wore pants every day to work, I wore these kinds.

    1. You’re lucky in LA that no socks are necessary year round. But maybe throw a pair into your luggage for Scotland. It can be raw and chilly there sometimes 😉

  2. I’m so bad about wearing socks. I hate them LOL but I have to force myself to wear them this time of year as it starts to get cooler. Plus, when I wear boots or certain shoes I have to wear them. I’ll have to check out this brand!

    1. I prefer sandals and no socks too, but here in snow country, we need socks at least 2/3 of the year, boo hoo.

  3. Those are really cute socks! Perfect season for them, too!

    The dots are cute!
I have a confession to make though- I don’t put away my sandals for the winter. I just wear them with socks when it’s below freezing. And when it snows I wear boots to and from places like work, but put said sandals in my bag and change my shoes when I get there! lol
I do also have boots that are appropriate to wear all day (unlike my massive snow boots, hahaha) and I DO wear them, but the sandals are always just chillin somewhere, should I need them. 😛

    1. LOL, Rachel! Do you get the ole side eye when you wear those sandals with socks? Actually, you should consider the Opaque Dots in that case. They’d look so cute with sandals 😀

They would look cute with my Birks! And yes, yes I do get stared at, lol
        People think I’m nuts.
        A common conversation-
them: um aren’t your feet cold?!?
        me: nope, perfectly happy.
        them: but it’s snowing.
me: out there, yes. in here, no.
them: so you don’t wear them outside then?
me: depends on how deep it is…

        1. :D:D I can hear that conversation in my head. Too funny! My feet are always cold so this could never be me even though I love me some sandals. But I truly get it

  5. Ehmkay Nails says:

I’m usually in tall riding boots in the fall, so I wear any socks haha. I’m not picky.

  6. Kathryne says:

I wear socks sometimes especially at the clinic where it’s so cold. I’m excited for your fall there!!!!

    1. Glad you’re excited about our fall, Kathryne! The high tomorrow is going to be 55 degrees 🙁

  7. I wear socks every day but nothing as cute as these. I should take a look at them since many of my black socks have faded so much.

  8. My Nail Polish Obsession says:

Hmmm, I never wear socks like that. If my socks show it’s bc they are athletic ones that go up to my knees when I’m exercising or running. But I do like funky print socks under my pants.

  9. These socks are so cute but I feel suffocated in any socks over my ankles. 😛

  10. 25 Sweetpeas says:

I’m so not a sock person! Only when its freezing out and I need to take our doggy out! 🙂 LOL!

  11. Those look so cute!

  12. I used to wear these kinds of anklets a lot, but San Diego isn’t really a place where you need to wear socks, lol!
