The Winner of My Birthday Perfume Giveaway!

My birthday is over. I had a wonderful day yesterday, and the sun was shining. Jeff got me a yummy birthday cake that was as light as a feather. We went out for a fabulous dinner. And the weekend trip to NYC was kind of for my birthday, too. On to the next year!

Happy Birthday! I envy you on a NYC trip. I was there on a day trip years ago but obviously just saw a tiny bit. For years I went to Chicago for weekends as it is only 3 hours away. But the last time I was even there was several years ago. Now I seem to enjoy exploring the hidden gems nearby. Tulip Festival in Holland, MI is a few weeks away. But I have never gone as the crowds are so large. Maybe this year….

    1. Thank you, Sandy! I was dying to go to NYC. I hadn’t been there in 2 years, and I lived in NYC for 32 years! I used to get to go to Chicago fairly frequently for business. I remember going there twice in one week several years ago with NYC in between. Both are fabulous major cities. I hope you’ll have an opportunity to go to the Tulip Festival in Holland MI this year. In fact, you reminded me that there’s something similar in Rhode Island, but you have to buy tickets in advance and it’s so hard to figure out when is the right time to go. Nevertheless, you are right about “hidden gems” in our own backyards!

Big congrats to Anne C! I am sure she’ll love this perfume!

    1. Gabrielle, that is so nice of you to congratulate Anne! xo

Aw, thanks. But I am also delighted to see that you had a swell birthday! What kind of restaurant did you visit?

        1. It was swell, Gabrielle!! We went to a relatively new restaurant in the historic city of Salem MA (the home of the witch trials and the House of Seven Gables). The restaurant, Ledger, opened in a former 19th century bank. The food was eclectic. We started with their signature popovers – yummy. I don’t eat beef very often, but both Jeff and I ordered the prime skirt steak with broccolini and fingerling potatoes, and it exceeded our expectations. So meaty and delicious! The cocktail I ordered, French 75, was so good, I had 2! Had a bit of a tough time waking up this morning, lol! Thank you for asking xo

          1. Gabrielle says:

That sounds marvelous! If I ever get to Massachusetts, I will have this restaurant on my list!

          2. If you ever get to Massachusetts, Gabrielle, you’ll have to let me know!!

Happiest of birthdays to you! I am glad you had such a nice time. Your trip sounds really fun and oftentimes a ‘roadtrip’ are the best ones.
My birthday is Saturday, and hubby and I will be going on a road trip too. We both love auctions, and there is one in Wisconsin. We are in Iowa, but it is about 3 or 4 ours away. So we will go to the auction and we always like to find a local hangout to eat. It should be beautiful, spring is around the corner, a tad chillier further north but things are going green.

It really is the simpler things that make our days memorable.

    1. Thank you, Ellen, and thank you for doing so much sharing of the giveaway tweet! I hope you’ll enter the next one. And Happy Birthday to you on Saturday! Your road trip sounds wonderful! I have only been to few auctions, art auctions, but I really enjoyed them. The last auction took place during a Nor’easter, so I stayed home and bid online. That was a trip of another kind! Do you have particular items that you seek when you go to the auction in Wisconsin? I hope that Saturday is a lucky as well as fun day for you!
