I love classical music (I know I’m in the minority). I always have. One of the things I miss most about no longer living in New York are the concerts and opera. In the suburbs of Boston, there aren’t a lot of classical concerts. But in the summer, I look forward to the Rockport Chamber Music Festival, now called Rockport Music, at the gorgeous Shalin Liu Concert Hall in Rockport MA. Check out the view!
We saw a couple of people who were gliding through the water on what looked like motorized stand up boards!
Jeff and I had tickets for the performance on Saturday night. The violist who was the featured artist was unable to get a visa to play in the U.S. (seems weird because he was from Israel), so he was replaced at the last minute with an American, Paul Laraia, who was excellent. There was an interesting mix of chamber music by Mozart, Dvorak, Bruch, and Brahms. We ran in to some people we knew which is always nice.
The summer concerts are rather casual events, so we didn’t get overly dressed up. Nevertheless, I wore a cute, super lightweight chiffon floral kimono top I bought at Macy’s in May with a short sleeve black T underneath and white pants. I bought the kimono top in size Small, but it looks like that is no longer available. Macy’s only has it in Plus sizes now.
I decided to wear the Kaja Beauty Bento Eyeshadow Trio that I reviewed last week. Here’s my look of the day that features corals and mauve.
Here are the products I used for this look:
Face
- IT Cosmetics No. 50 Serum Primer: primer and skincare in one that’s great for mature or dry skin
- Stellar Limitless Foundation, shade S02
- Judith August Orange Masking Creme Dark Circle Concealer
- Benefit Dandelion Shy Beam Highlighter, shade Nude Pink Matte Radiance Highlighter
- ColourPop Super Shock Blush, shade Between the Sheets (another of my faves is the warm rose Cruel Intensions)
Eyes
- Urban Decay Antiaging Eye Primer Potion
- MUFE Aqua XL Longlasting Waterproof Eye Pencil, shade M-14 (charcoal), upper lashline tightline
- Estee Lauder DoubleWear Infinite Waterproof Eyeliner, shade Graphite 05, under lower lashline
- Kaja Beauty Bento Eyeshadow Trio, shade 07 Glowing Guava
- Benefit They’re Real Mascara, shade black, size mini but there’s full size too
Lips
- City Lips, shade Clear
- Runway Rogue by Patricia Hartmann Precision Lip Pencil, shade Cover Shoot vibrant coral pink
- Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lip Color, shade 725 HD Sunset creamy watermelon coral
The makeup wore very well till I took it off. However, the shimmer shadow from the Kaja Beauty Bento had a tendency for the tiny glitter to end up on the skin under my brows. I may pick up a tube of the affordable NYX Glitter Primer and see if that helps because the Kaja Beauty Bento Shadow Trio is one of my current faves because the pigmentation is terrific, it’s easy to apply with fingers or brush, and other than the glitter bits, it stays put.
That’s a beautiful look on you. The colors really brighten your eyes.
Thank you so much, Paula! I’m loving the lip liner too – the perfect summer shade 😘
I absolutely LOVE the look that you created, Allison! Perfect look for attending a Chamber Music Festival!

I love classical music. I actually played violin in elementary, middle, and high school and was first chair for a city wide orchestra in a large city during that time. I actually really miss it. I love the look by the way, the Benefit Dandelion Highlighter is one of my favorites.
