I’m back! My second cataract surgery was a success. Switching from a “cataract factory” to Mass Eye & Ear was definitely the right way to go. Now my eyesight is greatly improved, and I can see distance very well. In fact, when we drove back to my house the other night from Boston, I was actually able to see the street and highway signs. And the lights no longer had big halos around them. I think I’ll be able to drive at night again, yay! I’m trying to get used to reading with readers, but I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it soon. It’s pretty amazing to wake up and be able to see the clock without glasses. 🙂

Allison, Woohoo on the successful cataract surgery. My only problem is extremely dry eyes but I have other issues with my eyes. Glad to hear that you are seeing so well. As I look out the window I see snow coming down. Michigan has hardly had any snow this year so it is nice to see it coming down….especially since I know it will be only be a couple of inches.
Thank you, Sandy! I too have extremely dry eyes, and I was told that cataract surgery would exacerbate the situation. One of my ophthalmologists who I see for dry eye said he had a procedure or something that could help. That’s got me kind of worried! I already use Restasis twice a day, and Refresh flax oil drops throughout the day. And he puts plugs in my lower tear ducts twice a year (though I think they come out by themselves a week or two after he puts them in). I also do warm compresses on my eyes everyday. Is there anything else that you do for your dry eye that I don’t know about?
I’m glad you haven’t had too bad of a winter yet. Same here north of Boston. Fingers crossed that it will continue this way till an early spring!
Yay! Though I have to say that when I wake up and the clock is just a fuzzy shape…well, since I truly can’t see it then I can still pretend that it *might* not be time to actually get up. It’s only when I squint at it a bunch or pick up my cellphone that reality comes crashing back. 😛
