AmourCBD Advanced Pain Relief Cream

About a year ago, I tried a muscle pain reliever with CBD, and I had good results. In addition to the non-THC CBD in the formula, it contained the traditiona topical pain relief l ingredients found in Bengay: menthol and menthol derivatives. So I was never sure what was making the product work.

Not long ago, I was given the opportunity to try another CBD topical pain reliever, AmourCBD Pain Relief. First, it is THC-free, meaning no psychoactive properties. It is made in Colorado, the state on the forefront of CBD products of all kinds.

I have been working to clean up my yard and gardens on days that are warm enough, in the mid-50s and above. Because spring has arrived earlier this year, my perennials are starting to make their presence known much earlier than usual. As a result, I have to rake up all the oak and beech tree leaves that fell after I raked back in November. The oaks drop their leaves very late, and they were all over the place on my lawn and gardens.

On Monday and Tuesday of this week, we had lovely sunny weather with the temperatures in the high 50s and even 60 degrees for an hour or two. Perfect gardening weather. I again moved a rhododendron that I hastily moved on a freakishly warm day in January when it had been heaved out of the ground. Then I moved a small hydrangea that would not have received any sunlight after moving the rhododendron. I weeded the large front garden, and try to get out a lot of the unwanted grass that likes to grow in that garden. Although I was only partially successful removing the tough grass, it was hard work. I did a ton of raking under my shrubs in my front yard as well as long the wood line in my backyard. Each day, I spent 5 hours doing physical labor in my yard.

Often the next day after bending and raking so much, I can’t move. My back, hamstrings and upper arms are usually killing me. On Monday night, I decided to try AmourCBD Advanced Pain Relief. First, I showered because that is usually how I apply traditional topical pain relievers. To be honest, I don’t think I had to shower to “activate” this the way I do with menthol-based creams and gels. Nevertheless, I was clean and the hot water made me feel better.

The first thing I noticed about AmourCBD Advanced Pain Relief was that the fluffy white cream has no odor! Now that is big. I strongly dislike the menthol smell from traditional topical pain relievers, even though I had come to associate the bad smell with efficacy. It was so pleasant to apply AmourCBD because it felt hydrating and left my skin feeling smooth and soft where I applied it. Also, I was able to apply my regular scented body butter without it fighting with a horrible menthol aroma.

AmourCBD Advanced Pain Relief felt slightly cooling on immediate contact with my skin, but that sensation disappeared after just a few seconds. Other than hydrating the skin on my upper arms, lower back and hamstrings, I didn’t feel anything. For me, the test would come the next morning when I would try to get out of bed. Usually after a day of hard work in the garden, my back would be very stiff, would hurt when I tried to straighten up, and my hamstrings and arms would be sore. After using AmourCBD Advanced Pain Relief on both Monday and Tuesday nights before bed, I woke up with no stiffness or soreness. Frankly, I was pretty darn amazed!

I looked at the ingredients, and at first glance, I couldn’t figure out what could possibly have made the difference. The first ingredients in the list were primarily emollients. Hemp oil was listed about halfway down the ingredient list. Finally, I discovered that the active ingredient is lidocaine 4%. I have used lidocaine cream by prescription in the past, and it has always worked to ease the pain of wounds or new surgical scars. I have never thought that lidocaine could help with muscle aches, but there you go. It worked for me.

I applied it at night, and after I showered this morning, I applied some more on my upper arms. The directions say you can apply it up to 3 times in 24 hours. I haven’t had to apply it more than once a day.

This brings me to the mystery of CBD. I wish I knew what the beneficial phytocannabinoids and terpenes that AmourCBD expertly extract actually do. I have never had the opportunity to use CBD on its own to see what, if anything, it would do for me. Certainly the lidocaine, perhaps in combination with CBD, in AmourCBD worked to prevent stiffness and muscle aches for me. Over the past month or so, the muscles in my upper arms have been hurting me when I raise my arm to put it under my pillow when I sleep on my stomach. I have no clue what that soreness is from, but AmourCBD has helped with that.

AmourCBD makes three different CBD products that would give me the opportunity to try products without other active ingredients: soft gels, gummies and tinctures. I looked at each one of the three, and I am not sure what CBD does because they do not advertise a specific benefit. That is most likely due to the fact is that the products have not been tested and approved by the FDA for a specific purpose.

Though I am unable to state categorically that CBD helps me with pain relief, I can state that AmourCBD Advanced Pain Relief with lidocaine and CBD from hemp oil has worked well for me at preventing and ameliorating muscle soreness and stiffness. Also, no odor is a big benefit.

AmourCBD Advanced Pain Relief cream comes in a handy, flip-top plastic tube that holds 1.55 oz. Today, when I set out to write about the product, I checked out the website and discovered that this tube is priced at $69. I was kind of surprised that it was that expensive. Rather than slathering it on, I will apply it more judiciously in the future. In addition to being sold on the AmourCBD website, it is available at a number of other online retailers including Massage Warehouse where the regular price is $39.99 and it is now on sale for $31.99, much more affordable than $69.

Have you tried CBD products yet? For what purpose have you used CBD? What are your thoughts?

That is some expensive cream! I would go straight for a Lidocaine product like Salonpas Lidocaine patches and creams. Much more affordable. Would be interesting to see the results of testing a product without added ingredients to see if the CBD is effective. Usually, the mind is the most powerful drug we have. I’ll take the lidocaine products any day as well!

    1. Mary, I wish I had some straight CBD cream to see if alone it would do anything for muscle soreness. I don’t think the systemic CBD that you swallow is worth trying for specific pain. I will see if I can find the prescription lidocaine cream that I have, and I will check the concentration though I wouldn’t be surprised if it were a higher %.

  5. CBD products are very expensive. I’ve paid over $50 so the price on this isn’t out of line. I am impressed with the amount of work you did outside. I haven’t been able to do gardening because of arthritis. I should get this for my husband. Odor free sold me!

I buy my CBD products from a local source. She actually grows the hemp and produces the products on their farm. She was a high school classmate of my youngest son. I don’t use a balm that often so I use a salve to put on my toe, and it’s 12.95 but that’s only for 2 oz. I do use CBD drops as I have pain throughout my body. I also have CBD infused K-cups which are awesome. I also have an order for gummies and more coffee coming. I like the fact that it is full spectrum organic hemp. Helps my anxiety plus the pain.

  10. Wow that sounds like it works really really well for you!
