FIXY Makeup Creation & Repair Kit: An Easy Way to Fix Broken Makeup

Press Sample - Affiliate Links

Months ago, I received FIXY Makeup Creation & Repair Kit. But in order to try it out, I didn’t want to break one of my pressed powder eyeshadows or blushes. Somehow I forgot all about the Cargo Water Resistant Blush in the gorgeous deep pink shade, Bali (it also comes in 2 other lovely shades), that I got last summer that arrived totally smashed to powder. The weird thing is I remember fixing it with my DIY process using alcohol and a knife. Maybe I dropped it over the past few months and didn’t realize it, because it was smashed again.

Glad I found it, and now it has a new life!

FIXY Makeup Creation & Repair Kit comes with everything you need to make a quick, easy repair or to turn pigments into easier to use pressed powder.

FIXY Makeup Creation & Repair Kit cube containing tools, fixative spray vial and small magnetic palette

Inside the pink and rose cube, you’ll find:

  • 3 sets of 3 sizes of empty makeup pans
  • an easy to use screen to strain the broken powder and make it into fine powder
  • a Grinder to press the larger pieces of broken powder through the screen
  • a Pick/Scraper
  • a brush
  • a form with holes to keep the pan in place and minimize the mess
  • black foam forms that fit in the holes to press down onto the powder to make it uniform and flat.

There’s also a vial of FIXY fixative spray and a small magnetic palette with a nice mirror to store some of the pans that you press.

As I mentioned above, I had been doing my own thing when it comes to repairing broken pressed powder. In fact, I made a video about repairing broken pressed powder. It is certainly doable without the FIXY kit. But with the kit, it is so much easier.

Here’s the process I went through to repair my Cargo blush.

  • Dump the broken powder onto the screen of the Dump & Grind bottom of the cube.

  • Use the Pick/Scraper and Brush to help get all the last bits of powder out onto the screen.

  • Grab the round Grinder and grind the powder bits through the screen using a circular motion. Use the Brush to get bits of powder that gets stuck on the edges of the screen and push them through with the Grinder. Also use the Brush to get bits of powder that are stuck on the Grinder out onto the screen.

  • Take off the screen, and check out all the nice, uniform powder that has collected in the cube below!
  • Take apart the Pour & Press top, setting aside the Press for now. Choose the pan that suits your needs, and drop it into the hole that fits it. Put a paper towel underneath just to speed clean up and minimize any powder mess.

  • Pour the powder from the bottom of the cube into the pan using the brush to help till the powder reaches the Fill Line. Use the Pick/Scraper to even out the top somewhat.

  • Spray it with the Fixative. 2 sprays for the small pan, 2-3 for the medium pan, and 3-4 sprays for the large pan. Hold the Fixative Spray about 5″ above the pan. You want it to be damp, but not wet.

  • Place the lid with the 3 black Presses over the makeup pan and press firmly for 10 seconds. Lift, and if you’re satisfied, you’re done. You can repress if necessary, but mine came out fine. And I popped it into the FIXY magnetic palette.

I made a large pan out of some of the Cargo blush. I had a lot leftover so I used the Fixative Spray and the Pick/Scraper to solidify the rest of the powder in the original container. What I learned was that the Cargo blush is way larger than I could use in a lifetime. I now have a large pan in my FIXY palette and more in the Cargo container.

On the FIXY website, you can check out all the different iterations of items within the Repair kit that you can buy separately or as replacements, as needed. The kit that I have is priced at $43.99, and if you sign up for emails, you get a 15% off coupon code. They also sell a larger magnetic palette for $15 in addition to the smaller palette that came with the kit that is priced at $8.50 on its own.

I am glad that I own the FIXY Makeup Creation & Repair Kit. Now I have to search for those loose pigments that I put somewhere because they were too much trouble to use, and make them into pressed powder shadows!

  8. This is such a smart tool to make — I’m that person who can’t repress makeup very well, it aways dries a little funky. So something like this would allow me to repress and save my money on broken products a lot better than trying to do it on my own lol

  9. This is so cool!!! I could have used this in my teen years for sure, I was always destroying makeup in my bookbag!
