I have not been wearing much, if any, makeup since the beginning of March. To be honest, I miss it. But it comes off on my mask when I go out, so I often skip it. However, for Jeff’s birthday this week, we went out to dinner outdoors in Boston, and we both wanted to make a festive occasion out of it. Here’s the cake:
Since I hadn’t worn a pair of white pants yet this summer, I decided to wear my midnight blue striped top with my white pants. I took along a white jeans jacket because it was chilly outdoors last night especially by the ocean.
I wore sandals with high heels, and I discovered that wearing heels is a use it or lose it thing. The heels were only about 2.5-3″ inches, and I had always found my Vince Camuto sandals to be very comfortable.
But after not wearing them for a year, I had to get used to walking in heels all over again. Nevertheless, it was fun to get a bit dressed up.
I decided to go for a silver/blue eye look for a change (it looked more silvery in the pan and bluer on my eyes),
and I actually wore foundation for the first time in months. Since I knew I would have to wear a mask walking outdoors in the city and at the restaurant till we sat at our table, I wore lip tint instead of regular lipstick.
Here are the products I used:
- Tatcha Liquid Silk Canvas Featherweight Protective Primer (I just got this primer. It merits its own review soon!)
- Smith & Cult Veiled Threat Weightless Micro-Blurring Foundation, shade 180-Cool (my favorite foundation, reviewed here) (I am sad to see that it looks like this foundation in a huge number of shades is being discontinued. It is now on sale for $10.50 on the Smith & Cult website and the tan/deep shades are on sale at Ulta. I think this is a great foundation, and for this price, you should try it.)
- Judith August Orange Masking Cream (concealer trio)
- Milk Makeup Lip & Cheek Mini, shade WERK
- Mally Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Line, shade Shimmering Black (that looks grey)
- Urban Decay Anti-Aging Primer Potion
- ColourPop Fame Eyeshadow Palette: shades Debutante and Piece of Me (my favorite neutral, cool-toned ColourPop palette)
- Tarte Cosmetics Make Believe In Your Self Shadow Palette: shade Mystic (one of my favorite pastel shimmer palettes)
- Milk Makeup Kush Mascara mini
- Saemmul Lip Tint, shade Red
To stimulate business during Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale that goes through August 30, they sent me a $20 note to spend at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack or HauteLook. I looked at lots of clothing, but every single item I considered was not available in my size. So I decided to use the discount to buy something from Charlotte Tilbury since I have only tried a couple of things from her brand. The cream eyeshadows looked particularly appealing, so I bought Mesmerize Cream Shadow in the copper shade, Star Gold.
I used contactless pickup and got my shadow today without having to go into the store. The young woman who brought it out to my car also brought me a bottle of Strawberry Lemonade that Nordstrom was giving out as a gift. Nice.
I couldn’t resist trying out the eyeshadow ASAP, so I decided to put on some makeup. Here’s my copper look for today, though I skipped the foundation.
- Amazing Cosmetics Perfection Stick, shade Fair (a little too light for me now)
- Urban Decay Anti-Aging Primer Potion
- Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerize Cream Shadow, shade Star Gold (This merits a review soon, too!)
- Aurora Liquid Liner, shade brown to tightline my lids
- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil, shade Mildew, bottom lash line
- Tarte Sea Surfer Curl Mascara
- Milk Makeup Lip & Cheek mini, shade WERK
- Sephora Brilliant Metal Cream Lip Shine
So those are my most recent makeup looks.
When was the last time you wore makeup? What are your favorite shades lately?
Hi Allison, A great fresh look. Ah heels, miss them. But do I? What did you think of the CT creme shadow? I have been wanting to try. I have been using Supergoop this summer as it has sunscreen, but this would be great for winter.
Mary, thanks for your comment & question. I have the Supergoop shadow w sunscreen too in a similar shade though it’s slightly browner. I too bought it for the summer. The Supergoop is more solid like MAC Paintpots IMO, whereas the CT shadow is more whipped and creamier, so far. I will review CT Eyes to Mesmerize Cream Shadow for a couple of weeks, so please check back!
