Hydration from the Bees via BeeSpa

Last December, I went to a holiday craft fair in Boston with my friends, Kim and Laura. While we were browsing for gifts and treats under the tents set up in an empty lot in the arts district, I met a couple selling honey and beeswax items who turned out to live with their bees down the road from me just over the border in the next town. That was a surprise! So whenever I see honeybees on my Russian sage, my Japanese anemones, my petunias, and other flowers and shrubs, I assume that they are the bees from down the road. I love to plant flowers that attract pollinators. We need to do all we can for the honeybees!

A couple of weeks ago, I received two body care products from BeeSpa, a company that began in 2012 by noted spa entrepreneur, Diane Cook, from the Twin Cities, Minnesota.

For 20 years, Diane has been seeking out the best ingredients and products for her clients at her renowned establishment, the Day Spa. Though she isn’t a beekeeper herself, Diane discovered that beeswax was an amazing emollient that helped heal her own dry, cracked feet. In fact, BeeSpa Hand and Foot Cream was the first product she developed. It’s become a cult favorite because it is such an effective healing and moisturizing agent. Following the success of BeeSpa Hand and Foot Cream, BeeSpa Luxury Body Cream was introduced, and now the two products can be found a fine hotels and spa across the United States.

I received the BeeSpa Total Body Bag with the dynamic duo of beeswax and essential oil products in a pretty pale yellow diaphanous drawstring gift bag:

BeeSpa Luxury Body Cream

The Body Cream is a pale yellow lotion-y cream that has a very faint honey scent.

Honestly, the charming fragrance is so light that I think even my friend Marcia who can’t tolerate strong scents would be fine with this one. What little scent there is does not stay on the skin.

The cream that it is crafted with a variety of natural plant extracts and oils in addition to beeswax is lightweight. It spreads and is absorbed easily by thirsty skin with no grease left behind whatsoever. At first, I wondered if this lotion-y cream would be hydrating enough for my uber-dry skin, but it certainly is. In fact, I put the lotion on my arms, legs and torso after getting out of the shower this morning, and my skin still feels soft and smooth more than 8 hours later. I’m impressed!

The tube of BeeSpa Luxury Body Cream is priced individually at $18.50.

BeeSpa Hand and Foot Cream

As I’ve gotten older, my feet have gotten drier. Even after using my beloved electric Amope Foot File, my feet still need additional help to maintain their softness. Using a balm is really key for me.

BeeSpa Hand and Foot Cream is a lovely deep yellow balm with the same faint honey scent that disappears like the Body Cream. Although it is thick in the jar, the balm disappears as it sinks into my dry skin. I use it at night. Since the temperature plummeted here over the past 10 days, I’ve been wearing socks over the balm and it works sooooooooo well. Soft feet!

Also because I’ve been washing my hands so much, I have been using BeeSpa Hand and Foot Cream on my hands at night. As much as I love my regular hand cream, BeeSpa balm works much better at replenishing lost moisture. And the balm creates a lovely silky smooth, velvety feel on my the top of my hands. Delightful!

As I mentioned above, I got the mini size jar of BeeSpa Hand and Foot Cream in the BeeSpa Total Body Bag. The price of the 0.5 oz. mini jar is $12.99 if purchased on its own. The BeeSpa Total Body Bag is $29.99 for the mini Hand and Foot Cream and the full size Luxury Body Cream. But BeeSpa Hand and Foot Cream also comes in a much larger 2.5 oz. jar for $29.99. I can see myself buying the large size jar for the winter when I use up the mini jar. This balm is wonderful! You can purchase BeeSpa products on the BeeSpa website or go to the website to find a spa or hotel near you that carries the BeeSpa products.

Are you a fan of the honeybees? Have you seen them this summer in your yard or neighborhood? Do you use beeswax products?
