CBD products are definitely on their way to becoming mainstream. More and more health and wellness, body and facial skin care, muscle ache products are being launched with CBD as one of the key products. CBD or cannabidiol, is a derivative from marijuana but without the THC or psychoactive component.

About 6 weeks ago, I received some body care products from the cruelty-free brand, CBD Living. Honestly, when I checked out the CBD Living website, I was almost overwhelmed by the size of their product line. They make everything CBD:
- zillions of products for cats and dogs
- tinctures
- gel caps
- syrups
- CBD water, sparkling waters
- energy shots
- coffee and tea
- edibles
- topicals: CBD patch, muscle aches and pain relievers
- concentrates
- vapes
- body care products: lotions, bar soap, salve, lip balms, bath bombs, massage oil, bath salts
- T-shirts
I received their three body lotions and two of their bar soaps to try out for review. Since they are skincare/body care products, I wanted to share with you what CBD Living says about the proprietary technology that they use in manufacturing their skincare products:
PROPRIETARY SKIN RETENTION NANO TECHNOLOGY
Alongside our (faster absorbing) Water Soluble Nano CBD, we may also include a well studied solubilizer and enhancing skin technology that allows nutrients to penetrate the skin while retaining the benefits on the skin as well.
Here at CBD Living, science is key. Therefore we know NOT all nutrients can be delivered orally and there is a high demand for skin treatments. The stratum corneum is the skin’s primary barrier that provides protection. This means not all nutrients make it through the skin to targeted pain receptors. Our technology provides hydration of the skin barrier at a molecular level by causing swelling and loosening of the fatty layer of your skin. Once this occurs the nutrients can be transported back and forth from the outside to the inside of the skin barrier safely through diffusion. Our water soluble CBD targets systemic absorption.
So, the gist of that is that the CBD in the CBD Living can pass through the skin’s barrier and will be absorbed into the bloodstream. It doesn’t just sit on top of the skin.
When I was searching for information on CBD, I found several articles that discuss interactions between CBD and prescription medications. If you are taking any of the following, check with your physician or pharmacist before using any CBD products:
- Antidepressants (such as fluoxetine, or Prozac)
- Medications that can cause drowsiness (antipsychotics, benzodiazepines)
- Macrolide antibiotics (erythromycin, clarithromycin)
- Heart/blood pressure medications (some calcium channel blockers)
CBD has anticoagulant properties (so if you are taking blood thinners, you really do not want to take CBD). On the plus side, CBD has been shown to have modest effects of lowering blood pressure (do not go off of your blood pressure medication and take CBD instead without consulting your doctor!).
CBD Living Soap
I received two of the four scents of bar soaps that CBD Living makes: Coconut Lime and Amber Bergamot. The other two are Lavender and Eucalyptus. There’s an aromatherapy component to CBD Living’s products:
- Refreshing Coconut Lime
- Zenful Amber Bergamot
- Relaxing Lavender
- Soothing Eucalyptus
The fragrance of both Coconut Lime and Amber Bergamot are soft and mild. I don’t really smell the lime in Coconut Lime, and the coconut smells like fresh, natural coconut rather than a synthetic coconut scent. To my surprise, I read on the CBD Living website, that the Coconut Lime soap also contains cucumber, juniper berry and sea buckthorn. While I am not able to detect the scent of those ingredients, I’m glad they’re there hopefully doing good things for my mood and/or my skin. The Amber Bergamot smells delightful. To me, Amber Bergamot soap smells like oranges, although the soap also contains cinnamon, cedar wood and fennel. Both Coconut Lime and Amber Bergamot are both very nice fragrances.
The bar soaps are made from 100% natural ingredients. And they contain 100 mg of CBD Living nano CBD. CBD Living goes on to say that their proprietary skin retention technology “allows nutrients to better penetrate the layers of the skin, and stay on the skin longer, for lasting relief.”
I have been using Coconut Lime bar soap in the shower for at least a month. The soap must be very similar to triple-milled bar soaps that I’ve tried in the past because the bar itself is very long lasting. The soap makes a lovely lather, but it does not strip my skin of natural oils. I would say that it is lightly hydrating. I am enjoying using it very much. From the looks of it, I think the bar will last me another month of two. CBD Living Soap is priced at $14 for 4.5 oz., but honestly, it is very cost effective especially considering it contains CBD. I pay almost that for artisan bar soaps.
Coconut Lime Soap Ingredients: Proprietary Broad Spectrum Nano Hemp Extract (aerial parts) 100mg Cannabidiol , Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Safflower Oil, Fragrance Oil, Essential Oils, Coconut, Lime, Cucumber, Juniper Berry, Sea Buckthorn, Lake Colors.
Amber Bergamot Soap Ingredients: Proprietary Broad Spectrum Nano Hemp Extract (aerial parts) 100mg Cannabidiol , Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Safflower Oil, Fragrance Oil, Essential Oils, Bergamot, Cinnamon, Orange, Cedar Wood, Fennel, Lake Colors.
CBD Living Body Lotion
I received all three of the 16 fl. oz. CBD Living Body Lotions:
- Unscented
- Lavender
- Eucalyptus.
Because I wear perfume a lot of the time, I use the Unscented lotion after my shower. However, I love to use the Lavender body lotion before bed. The lavender scent is stronger than the soft, mild scents in the bar soaps. I find lavender scent to be highly relaxing, and it’s perfect for me to apply before bed to my feet and legs.
I haven’t tried the Eucalyptus scented body lotion yet, but like the Lavender, it has a stronger scent than the bar soaps. I would describe it as a fresh, herbal scent that is gender-neutral, appealing to men and women who like herbal fragrances.
CBD Living Body Lotions are rich, thick, luxurious body lotions. They absorb quickly and are non-greasy. They are perfect for treating dry skin while giving you your daily dose of CBD. The big 16 fl. oz. bottle contains 300 mg of CBD and is priced at $30. One pump of CBD Living Body Lotion contains about 1.2mg of CBD.
To be honest, I have a hard time knowing exactly how CBD affects me because I don’t know what to look for. I just think CBD Living Body Lotion is a terrific body lotion for my super dry skin. In fact, I’ve already recommended it to others with dry skin. The hydrating effect is long-lasting, and I enjoy using it!
CBD Living also makes a travel size Body Lotion in Unscented, but it is a stronger formulation since the bottle contains 100 mg CBD in a one ounce container. $10.
Body Lotion Ingredients: Proprietary Broad Spectrum Nano Hemp Extract (aerial parts) (Cannabidiol / CBD), Water, Isopropyl Palmitate, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Ethylhexyl (Octyl) Palmitate, PEG-100 Stearate, Propanediol, Dimethicone, Polysorbate-60, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Aminomethyl Propanol, Tocopherol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tetrasodium EDTA, Simmondsia Chinesis (Organic Jojoba) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Seed Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Squalane, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Nannochloropsis Oculata (Algae) Extract, Cetyl Alcohol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Palmaria Palmata (Red Dulse Algae) Extract, Phospholipids, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), Salvia Sclarea (Clary Sage) Oil, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Oil, Boswellia Serrata (Frankincense) Oil, Pelagonium Graveolens (Germanium) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil.

Have you tried CBD skincare products yet?

I’m a big fan of the unscented CBD Living Body Lotion. I use it often and need to rebuy it. It’s hard for me to find a fragrance free body lotion that’s effective but they’ve nailed it.

I am a lover of soaps! I will have to look into this! I’ve never tried CBD products (I’m so behind the times). 🙂
I only recently dipped my toe in CBD waters (an eye serum). This sounds like a good next step. I love lavender so I’m interested in the body lotion.
I love some unscented lotion, this sounds nice for my dry skin
I love using topical CBD products in my routine! I like their therapeutic effect on sore muscles.
I haven’t used a lot of CBD products yet but I think I need to try that soap ASAP! It sounds lovely and I love that it’s long-lasting too. I burn through soap so quickly in my house!
I use the CBD Living Soap everyday in the shower. I am now on the second month using it, and it’s not even half way used up. I’m amazed!
