First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser with Amino Acids

I Bought This, Affiliate Links

First Aid Beauty’s iconic creamy, white, gentle, hydrating Face Cleanser has been one of my cool/cold weather favorite cleansers for several years. You know it, the tube that holds rich white cream. It’s for all skin types, but it’s just so soothing as well as cleansing for dry or red skin. Love it. And it’s fragrance-free.

A few months ago, Ipsy offered the full size First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser with Amino Acids as an add-on for subscribers at a discounted price. I don’t remember what I paid for it, maybe $12, but I thought it would be worth trying especially for summer since its name is “foaming”. I didn’t know anything about it except that it was from FAB, and that’s enough for me.

Well, it turned out to be a surprise in terms of how it works. I was expecting it to be a lightweight, self-foaming liquid like Derma E Ultra Hydrating Alkaline Cloud Cleanser. I was wrong.

FAB Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser with Amino Acids comes out of the pump as a string of translucent gel.

Mixed with a little water, the gel becomes a rich, gentle, hydrating, soothing opaque cream.

Here’s how First Aid Beauty describes Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser:

An ultra-gentle daily cleanser with self-foaming technology to clean skin and pores, leaving it feeling soft and moisturized, never tight or dry.The oil-free, pH-balanced formula includes a mild apple-derived Amino Acid, a natural cleansing agent, and skin soothing ingredients Colloidal Oatmeal, Aloe and Bisabolol. The formulation is free from: sulfates, artificial fragrance, dyes, alcohol and other harsh detergents and chemicals.

I never knew that amino acids can be natural cleansing agents. And Bisabolol is an anti-inflammatory, so it soothes skin.

Suitable for all skin types, FAB Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser provides antidotes for dry, dull, or red skin and for skin with uneven texture.

This cleanser is an absolute delight: creamy and smooth. Plus, it smells like melon. The scent is divine! (The ingredient list says it includes melon fruit extract, so maybe that’s why??) I actually look forward to washing my face with it. Everything about it is wonderful! I checked the reviews on the Ipsy website where no one holds back (lol) as well as on the FAB website, and the ratings and reviews are raves. I’m not alone in my love for this cleanser.

In addition to being cruelty-free, it’s gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free, nano-free, vegan, as well as suitable for sensitive skin. It’s made without sulfates, artificial fragrance, dyes, alcohol, or other harsh detergents and chemicals. I love FAB products.

FAB Pure Skin Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser with Amino Acids comes in a pump bottle containing 4.5 fl. oz./133 ml. Its regular price is $22.

First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser is sold on their website  and on Amazon where it costs a dollar less but also where it is billed as “unscented” which is weird because the bottle I bought from Ipsy is undoubtedly melon-scented. I wasn’t able to find FAB Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser at Ulta or Sephora or on other online retailers. I don’t know if this cleanser is new or old and they’re getting rid of it. Do you know? It seems strange to me that a product that has been so popular among those who have tried it would be discontinued, unless FAB wants to trim the number of products in their extensive range. Maybe retailers only want to carry just one of FAB’s cleansers. At any rate, I hope it’s here to stay.

  1. Hi, Allison – I am continually amazed at how many absolutely wonderful products are out there that are safe for sensitive skin. If it wasn’t for bloggers like you, I wouldn’t know how to find them. Thank you so much! – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

    1. You’re right, Angie, the world is overrun with product choices! And I am enjoying making my way through them one at a time, lol!

  2. What a wonderful consistency and texture! I love the one from Derma E, but this sounds even better to me! What a find, Allison! This sounds truly, divine!

    1. FAB makes such terrific skincare products, and this creamy, melon cleanser is another one!

  3. This sounds great! Looking for a new winter cleanser and this may be it. Thanks for reviewing.

    1. I really love this FAB cleanser! I think it would make a perfect winter cleanser coz that’s how I’m using it. I am just a bit confused about the melon scent. I definitely smell delightful melon, but on Amazon it says “unscented”. On the FAB website, it doesn’t mention fragrance, I don’t think. Maybe it means no added fragrance, and I am smelling the melon extract ingredient? Who knows, but I find it so uplifting!

I enjoy having a variety of cleansers since my skin doesn’t always feel the same day after day. Either unscented or melon would work for me.

  5. Gabrielle says:

I would love to use this. Maybe this month it will be available as an add-on. BTW, remember that tomorrow (the 2nd) is choice day for your Ipsy Bag.

    1. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Gabrielle, for the reminder! I have been so stressed out and tired that I am forgetting everything. Tomorrow, I must vote in an important local primary, I keep forgetting to pick up a book at the library that’s on hold, and I must pick my Ipsy products!! You are getting the big box this month, right? I’m psyched to see everything you get, but I think you’re getting some perfume? I hope that the FAB cleanser will be available again. When I was writing this review, I looked online to see where to buy it besides the FAB website, and I was amazed at how many bottles were for sale on Poshmark, eBay, and Mercari by Ipsters who sold theirs. I think that’s kinda cheesy, but whatever. 😀

      1. Gabrielle says:

Glad to help! I dropped off my ballot at the drop box on Saturday. Yes, I am getting the X Bag this month. It’s curated by Huda, so I’m looking forward to some pretty makeup. Weird about the FAB cleanser. Why wouldn’t people keep it and use it?

      2. Gabrielle says:

I just cancelled my Ipsy sub. Glam Bag X was a complete waste of money. No, I didn’t get the perfume, or any of the other cool things. I got total junk. They’re not going to enjoy reading the email I just sent them.

        1. Drat that Ipsy! After you reupped just to get the Huda collab, too. How could they have screwed up a bag with Huda products? I’m glad you cancelled and told them specifically why you did so. I just placed my order, and the 2 products they chose for me are fine, although I may have the Sunday Riley product already, hmmm. The other 3 I had to choose was so difficult because there was nothing I really wanted. I got a couple of add-ons that I wanted. For those of us who already have a lot of beauty products, Ipsy is not so much fun anymore. I’m sorry 🙁

          1. Gabrielle says:

There were almost no Huda products in my bag. Just a concealer. I complained quite vehemently and got a refund. The bag was a complete joke. I’m not the only one who feels that way. There’s a rumor that NO ONE got the perfume because nobody can find anyone who got it. Lots of complaints on the Ipsy IG account today.

          2. Wow, that is ridiculous. Ipsy should be embarrassed. How can they even call that a Huda collab? I’m glad that everyone is reading them the riot act. I’m glad you got your money back.

          3. Gabrielle says:

I’ve never seen this many angry comments to Ipsy, and that’s saying something. People are enraged. Some people are talking about class action lawsuits because it’s clear this Bag X was a bait and switch. Apparently, some influencers were sent the cool stuff (like the perfume), but no paying customers got the real goodies. I am thrilled for you that your GB Plus at least had Sunday Riley!

          4. You got my curiosity up. I’m going to look for Ipsy on IG to read the comments!

          5. Gabrielle says:
          6. Thank you for sending the links. I just checked out the first link and read all the comments. You weren’t kidding. Poor customer service rep Lissa, lol. I hope that Ipsy got the message loud and clear. BTW, what is the Huda perfume supposed to smell like?

          7. Gabrielle says:

It’s supposed to be Jasmine, Vanilla, Orchid, and Tonka Bean.

          8. Oh, that does sound nice. No wonder everyone wanted to get it. What a disappointment.
