More Olive & June Mani System and Nail Polish Love

Today the workmen who, back in September, had looked at a relatively small job replacing the rotten trim on my house with AZEK composite trim that won’t rot finally showed up. I am writing a quicker post today after the loooong one yesterday, so I can be available if they need me to answer questions.

This is yet another ode to my love for Olive & June nail polish and their entire mani system! I bought a few more polishes and nail care essentials in November, and I am making my way through them.

The nail care essentials were four replacements for my stash and two new-to-me products:

Since I mentioned how much I liked the Polish Remover and Cuticle Serum in yesterday’s post about products I repurchased in 2021, I will skip over them and get to the Nail Strengthener. The only difference in the replacement versions is that they are packaged differently. The new limited edition Cuticle Serum is especially cute (it’s gone already!). I can’t believe I forgot to mention yesterday how terrific my favorite Super Glossy Topcoat and Dry Drops are and that I repurchased both of them, too.

Olive & June Nail Strengthener

The Nail Strengthener comes in a bottle and is applied with a brush. The strengthener is a liquid that disappears into my nail on contact. It dries right away, and is almost imperceptible on my nail afterwards. It’s not like a primer. I know I have used a similar strengthener from another brand in the past, but I can’t remember which brand it was. I specifically bought this strengthener to see if it would help my thumb nail that split a few years ago heal. During the summer, it is fine, but once the cold air hits, the split returns once my nail grows to a certain length. I filed down my thumb nail to remove the source of the split, and I’ve been applying the strengthener when my nails don’t have polish on them. My nail is super short still, so I can’t tell yet if it is working to repair that nail. I’m using it on my other nails to see if it will keep them from breaking in the winter cold air.

Olive & June Cuticle Remover

The Cuticle Remover is similar in consistency to the Cuticle Serum, a white liqui-gel. I have only used it a few times, but I think my cuticles look pretty good and not as obvious as they did in the past. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Olive & June Nail Polish Shades

Because O&J polishes last so long on my nails, I don’t change my polish as frequently as I did in the past. So, I have just two new shades to show you today:

  • Social Studies
  • Caramel Budino.

Social Studies

I adore Social Studies because it’s the perfect dark blue for me. It’s has a touch of gray in it that makes it different from your run-of-the-mill navy blue. It’s the color of some new jeans. Anyway, I love it!

Caramel Budino

Because of my red hair, I can often get away with some warm-toned shades. I hoped that would be the case with Caramel Budino, a 90s inspired neutral.

Even though I love the color especially for autumn, I’m not sure that it works that well with my skintone – maybe because my sun spots or age spots are almost the same color! Anyway, it was worth a try. It’s still a nice neutral that will work better if I wear them with an outfit in a similar or coordinating shade.

These two shades are just part of my O&J polish haul that included the stunning Exclamation Point, the perfect New Year’s Eve polish.

You’ll be seeing the rest sooner or later.

    1. I don’t know if you have trouble with chipping nail polish like I do. I use my hands all the time, so up until I met Olive & June, nothing lasted more than 3 days on me. If you have similar issues, then I hope you will try it one day. I believe O&J started originally as a nail salon in L.A.!

  2. Your love for Olive & June just keeps growing. They are lucky to have found such a loyal customer.

    1. You must think I’m addicted, Marcia, and I guess I am! Nothing lasts on my nails like this stuff from O&J

  3. Curious about that nail strenghtener. I’ve only been impressed with nailtiques #2 and pretty sure I’ll go back to it because others just havent compared. My dip powder company just came out with a really good cuticle serum (that’s really a cuticle remover). Love it so much compared to that liquidy mess using the blue cross cuticle remover liquid!

    1. So far so good with the Olive & June Nail Strengthener, but I think it only makes sense if you use the O&J system. Glad the dip powder brand you use is working well for you 🙂
