My Two Favorite After Shower Spray Oils: Nature Island Botanicals and Agrumi & Cannella Dry Oils

I’ve become a fan of oils of all kinds, but today I’m talking about oils that you spray on after a shower. I’m going to introduce you to two heavenly scented spray oils that are a wonderful alternative to lotions.

I Bought This

Nature Island Botanicals Gourmet Caribbean Coconut Oil Lite

Daphne Frampton of Nature Island Botanicals crafts the most gorgeously scented bath, body and beauty products ever. I will do a complete blogpost on her hand-crafted product line that includes soaps, body butters, lotions, and facial skincare products just as soon as she gets her new website up and running.

But in the meantime, I couldn’t wait till then to introduce you to her Nature Island Botanicals Gourmet Caribbean Coconut Oil Lite. The tropical scent is transporting. I bought it at the end of July, and I am so grateful that I still have some left, now that my days at the beach are over for the season. Although I spent the summer at Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester, this sweet coconut scent that also has a fruity note takes me back to the islands of Martinique and St. John. I spray this on after my shower when my skin is still damp and rub downward to help the light oil get absorbed. It’s so lovely. You have to smell it for yourselves to understand why I’m over the moon for this non-greasy, moisturizing oil. As the label says, “A natural oil that absorbs into your skin leaving it moisturized while adding sheen.” Yeah!

Nature Island Botanicals Caribbean Coconut Oil Lite

Everything that Daphne makes in her studio in Rhode Island is either natural or organic, and she only uses the best ingredients in all her products. The Caribbean Coconut Oil Lite is 100% organic, and the ingredients are safflower, sweet almond, apricot kernel, bassu (an oil that’s full of anti-oxidants from the Tree of Life in Chile), and vitamin E oils. The wonderful scent is not from a chemical but from natural coconut essential oil. Caribbean Coconut Oil Lite comes in an elegant, 9 oz. slim metal spray container that’s great for keeping in the bathroom. The price is $22. With cold and snowy days to come (at least around here), Caribbean Coconut Oil is one way to make believe you’re leaving the cold behind. And if you prefer a different intoxicating fragrance, Daphne recently started making light oil in White Ginger: Exotica White Ginger Body Oil Lite. It sells out at all her craft shows! Both of these scents come in traditional forms, i.e.  lotion and/or body butter, but you should consider giving the oil a try.

Until the Nature Island Botanicals website is up, the best way to order is by phone at 954-646-4005. And check out the Nature Island Botanicals fanpage on Facebook to see what Daphne’s up to, and read what her fans and friends have to say about her adventures and her amazing product line.

Agrumi & Cannella Olio Secco

I have a friend on Facebook from Paris. Joelle and I have never met in person, but she is so interesting, a true citizen of the world, who has introduced me to so many things. Several months ago, she suggested I try dry oil (olio secco). I looked everywhere for it, in stores in MA, and whenever I traveled around the US, I searched for it. I couldn’t find any. I guess it’s not an American thing. On Friday, I stopped into the flagship Marshall’s store on Boylston St. in Boston to check out the beauty shelves before I got the train home. And there it was on the shelf, Italian dry oil in three different scents: lavender, rose and citrus & cinnamon.

Because it’s fall, I chose the citrus & cinnamon. The scent is just like a Christmas pomander (you know the oranges with cloves stuck all over them that’s rolled in cinnamon?). Such a wonderful fragrance. The oil comes in a heavy plastic clear spray bottle. Again, I apply it to damp skin, and rub it in till it dries. It absorbs and dries quickly. The scent is amazing, like I’m walking through a grove of spicy oranges!

Agrumi & Cannella Dry Oil Citrus & Cinnamon

This is not an organic product like the Nature Island Botanical oil, but I still love it. Agrumi & Cannella Olio Secco is made in Italy. The bottle contains 4.20 fl. oz./125 mL. I paid $9.99 for it at Marshall’s, but finding it again at Marshall’s may be hit or miss. I should’ve bought two, lol. On the website www.erbariotoscano.it, it’s priced at $25. And there is soap, shower gel, body milk, a candle, and perfumed water in the same citrus & cinnamon scent.

This post is definitely for fragrance-lovers. Here are two lovely, light, moisturizing, heavenly smelling oils for you to broaden your horizons, if you haven’t used an after shower oil already.  And if you use after shower oils, got any recommendations?

  1. Botanical oil is awesome. It is very light and it only takes a few drops to get the job done. I use this oil to seal the moisture in my curls.

That’s great, Emma! I use Argan oil on my face, but I haven’t tried it on my hair yet. These two oils are so highly fragranced, I hadn’t thought about using them on my hair but I might ‘coz it would smell terrific. Thanks for the tip 🙂
