Derma E Vitamin C Instant Radiance Citrus Facial Peel

PR Sample, Affiliate Links

Derma E has gifted me most of the products in their fab Vitamin C skincare collection. So far, I have loved just about all of them, reviewed many of the products on the blog (here, here, here and more), and I have repurchased several of the Vitamin C products myself.

I fairly recently started using the Vitamin C Instant Radiance Citrus Facial Peel, and to me, it’s a standout. If you want to get your glow on and help your skin feel revived, you must try Derma E Vitamin C Instant Radiance Citrus mask. In 5 minutes, you can start to turn around your skin.

Key Ingredients and Their Functions

Derma E Vitamin C Instant Radiance Citrus Facial Peel contains the AHAs glycolic (1-2%) and lactic acids as well as lemon extract to exfoliate, resurface skin to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

It also contains Citrus Fruit Purée with the ingredients below to diminish discoloration and uneven skin tone over time.

The mask also contains the following key ingredients:

  • turmeric: contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits and may impart a glow to the skin; it also boost collagen product, lightens skin, and exfoliates
  • seabuckthorn: increase collagen production, provides UV protection, contains linoleic acid to strengthen the skin barrier, helps skin regain elasticity and prevents dryness
  • red raspberry: good source of antioxidants vitamins A and E, encourages skin cell turnover for smoother, firmer skin, boosts collagen production, fights inflammation, fades scars.

Ingredients: Purified Water, Citrus Sinensis (Orange) Peel, Glycerin (Vegetable Derived), Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate (Sugar Starch), Glycolic Acid, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C, Stay-C® 50), Phytic Acid, Sodium Gluconate, Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Extract*, Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid), Lactic Acid, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Iron Oxides (CI 77492,CI 77491), Jojoba Esters, Orange Terpenes.

What Is the Mask Like?

The mask is orangey-yellow like the packaging. It certainly looks like it contains turmeric. It also reminds me of vitamin A-rich pumpkin masks that I’ve used before.

Rather than having a smooth texture, the mask contains small lumps or grains. To be honest, I don’t know what they are! But they are not sharp, hard or gritty, and that’s good news for my semi-sensitive skin.

In addition the mask is translucent and relatively lightweight rather than opaque and heavy. I was surprised when the mask dried and tightened on my face, though it wasn’t uncomfortable.

I first cleanse, and then apply the mask to moist skin. Initially, I left the mask on for 10 minutes, and then rinsed with lukewarm water. When I put on my reading glasses next time I used the mask, I noticed that I should leave it on for only 3-5 minutes, so that’s what I’ve been doing since.

Immediate Results!

I was shocked, actually, that the mask had such an immediate and noticeable impact on my skin. Using Derma E Vitamin C Instant Radiance Citrus Facial Peel did result in instantly and noticeably radiant, naturally glowing, and tighter feeling skin that lasted for a few hours. Quite amazing and impressive! I didn’t want to apply any foundation because I didn’t want to cover up the glow, lol.

Although I can’t say that it faded my dark spots from years of sun damage, I am curious to see if it will make a difference over time. I am trying to use the Facial Peel once a week.

Additional Info

Derma E Vitamin C Instant Radiance Citrus Facial Peel comes in a jar. I was happy to see that the product came with a plastic scoop or mini spoon so I didn’t have to put my fingers in the jar (though I have a stash of scoops at this point).

However, I read the little pamphlet that came with the spoon, and it said to use the spoon to remove the mask. I’m not quite sure how that works and why it would be necessary. Though the mask tightens on my skin, it doesn’t exactly feel like a peel-off mask. I’m not the only one confused about it because their lowest review score (3 stars) was written by a woman who was similarly confused about removal with the spoon. I am anything but disappointed in the results without peeling it off my skin. I think it works just fine by rinsing with lukewarm water.

The jar contains 2 oz/56 g, and it should last me quite a while. It’s priced at $23.95 on the Derma E website. Derma E products are widely available at Whole Foods, Ulta, Target, iHerb, Lovelyskin.com, and other online retailers. As a reminder, Derma E products are vegan, cruelty-free, have no added fragrance, no mineral oil, phthalates, or sulfates. Derma E makes great stuff!

    1. I forgot that I had used the Derma E Vit C peel recently, and I used Theraderm’s chemical exfoliator. I was shocked that nothing came off, no dead skin at all. Then I remembered I had used Derma E’s Vit C peel 3 days before. Wow.

  2. I love this peel, and as you know their Vitamin C Collection is my very favorite. I agree that this jar really does last a very long time. This is such an effective and affordable brand, and this is definitely one of my favorite peels (across all price points, actually).

    1. I’m with you: the Derma Vitamin C collection is my fave too!

  3. I haven’t used this one in years but remember liking it. I agree the removal with the spoon doesn’t make sense. maybe they are alluding to the fact that by scraping with a spoon you’ll remove dead skin cells a little bit more. In any case, I washed it off with water too! LOL

    1. I was thinking maybe because some peels are hard to start pulling off, so they suggest using the spoon. But this isn’t really a peel. Oh well, rinsing it off worked just fine, like you said.
