Eucerin Advanced Repair Cream

Though I have a number of body lotions, creams and butters that I like for a number of reasons, e.g. fragrance, silkiness, lastingness, hydration, I still continue to search for the best everyday fragrance-free hydrating body cream. Let me tell you about my latest one from the drug store.

Eucerin Advanced Repair Cream

I was on the hunt for a body cream with ceramides because they are supposed to strengthen the skin’s barrier. A stronger skin barrier should help skin keep moisture in and keep dryness at bay.

In fact, I forgot that last year I used Aveeno Skin Relief Moisture Repair with ceramides as well as shea butter, plant-based oils, glycerin and also petrolatum and methylparaben (reviewed here). I liked Aveeno Skin Relief Moisture Repair, but it came in a tub and was more inconvenient to use. I also used the Aveeno Skin Relief Moisture Repair lotion in a pump bottle, and it was easier to use. However, it didn’t have ceramides, but it still had petrolatum. So my search continued.

Eucerin Advanced Skin Repair happened to be on the shelf at CVS when I had a 40% off coupon. Because it said “ceramides” right on the front of the tube as well as for “very dry skin”, I bought it. Plus, it came in a handy, easy to apply tube, and it is fragrance-free.

It claimed to strengthen skin’s moisture barrier and “provide immediate & 48 hour moisture”. Sounded promising.

Eucerin Advanced Skin Repair had many of the same ingredients as the Aveeno Skin Relief Moisture Repair but without the petrolatum and methylparaben. It had hydrating glycerin, shea butter, ceramides NP like the Aveeno, but it also had urea, a natural moisturizing factor (NMF) that helps skin hold onto water and look and feel plump, elastic and hydrated. For an in-depth explanation in easy to understand language of all the ingredients in Eucerin Advanced Skin Repair, check out this article from the Incidecoder.

Advanced Skin Repair also contains AHAs (sodium lactate), so if I continue to use it in the summer, wearing sunscreen will be a must (though I usually do anyway).

In terms of the product’s esthetics, Eucerin Advanced Skin Repair is a no-brainer. The tube makes it easy to apply. The medium-weight, smooth white cream smooths on with no fragrance.

It sinks in/dries with no white or greasy residue. Although I haven’t tried using one application for 48 hours, it does seem to remain on my skin till I shower. My skin doesn’t look as wrinkled or dry as it can with other body creams. It makes my skin feel very soft. Plus, it provides a good base on which to apply perfume.

If you have very dry skin like I do, I recommend trying Eucerin Advanced Skin Repair. It has great ingredients, it’s innocuous but leaves my skin feeling hydrated, comfortable, soft, and smooth.

I don’t know who the people are behind the organization or label “Skinsafe”, but they have rated Eucerin Advanced Skin Repair as “100% Skinsafe” and “Best for Sensitive Skin”. They have rated the product as:

  • lip safe
  • eyelid safe
  • free of common preservatives
  • fragrance free
  • paraben-free
  • gluten-free
  • dye-free
  • lanolin-free and more.
Eucerin Advanced Skin Repair comes in an 8 oz. tube and a 16 oz. tub. The tube is priced around $7 and is available at CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Target, and iHerb.com among other retailers.

I will probably continue to use other body creams and lotions for other reasons, but I think I’ve found my new healing, dry skin, go-to, no-nonsense, get-the-job-done body cream. In fact, I think I will try the Eucerin Advanced Skin Repair Hand Cream, too.

    1. This effective body cream is well worth trying.

  3. I think this is the one my husband uses. His skin was so dry and the dermatologist recommended it. It’s the first time he’s following through and using this daily. And it thrills me that there’s no fragrance since obviously not one for fragrance.

    1. I will mention to Jeff that your husband uses the Eucerin for very dry skin. Jeff has started with several body lotions/butters, but falls off the wagon even though he needs it. Maybe Marty will inspire him! I love this utilitarian but effective lotion!
