ZENT New York = Scent New York

Before Jeff developed his recent health issues, I received two bottles of luxury diffuser scent oils from a company called ZENT New York. In the two months since I received them, ZENT New York has become Scent New York. So even though my photos say ZENT, it’s Scent New York that I’m writing about!

Scent New York is an ambient scent design company based in Brooklyn NY. Their mission is “Space Scenting”. One of their taglines is “Make your home smell like a hotel”. I actually love that idea. In fact, one of their scents is Westin White Tea inspired by the fragrance that Westin Hotels developed to scent their lobbies and their amenities.

ZENT/Scent New York Diffusers

Though I haven’t used them myself, Scent New York sells stylish and innovative diffusers that look like they belong in a sleek New York hotel or a luxurious minimalist apartment or home. In addition to a sleek, slim metallic Tower Diffuser and smaller diffusers that either plug in or are charged via USB, they have a portable diffuser that you can carry from room to room that I am lusting after! The small ZENT-100 has a built-in fan that distributes scent oils throughout a room that’s up to 1000 sq. ft.  Plus, they have a device called Air Scentral that can scent an entire home or business up to 4000 sq. ft! They are very impressive.

ZENT/Scent New York Aroma Oils

Their scent oils are premium aroma oils crafted from natural ingredients.

By and large, their scent oils are different from the small bottles that I usually buy at the health food store. First, the bottles are much, much larger. They come in three sizes:

  • 4 fl. oz./120 ml
  • 8 fl. oz./240 ml
  • 16 fl. oz./480 ml.

Even the smallest Scent New York bottle is 4-8 times as large as most essential oils. Because Scent New York aroma oils can be used to scent a large room or even an entire house or office, you need to be able to buy more oil!

Second, the aroma oils are not single notes but fragrances with top, middle and base notes. The fragrances are arranged in several “collections”:

  • Hotels
  • Fresh
  • Calming
  • Floral
  • Perfume Aroma.

The Scent Oils I Selected

I chose two scent oils from different collections:

  • Paradise
  • Vanilla Bean.

Paradise

Paradise, from the Hotel collection was inspired by the ambience of the Ritz hotels. Years ago, when I worked in advertising, and more recently when I traveled a lot as a consultant and focus group moderator, I was lucky enough to get to stay at Ritz hotels from time to time. What a treat! That was one of the key reasons I chose Paradise to try.

Here’s the description of Paradise aroma oil:

“Inject a much-needed boost to a mundane life with a vigorous combination of Tea, with its light and fresh notes that energize! The pungent, warming and appealing lemon tang of Thyme plus the sweet floral notes of Jasmine with a deadly sexy musky kick!”

Top Note: Bergamot, Lemon Tea & Thyme
Mid Note: Jasmine petals, rose, tea leaves
Base Note: Sandalwood, amber, musk

I am also a fan of Bergamot and all three of the base notes.

By the time I got to use Paradise, I forgot the description and the notes in the formula. Based on the name Paradise, I was expecting a floral, tropical scent. Oh no, it truly is a Bergamot/tea fragrance. It’s fresh, clean, and sophisticated. To me, it’s a perfect daytime scent, though I am diffusing it right now at 10pm and it’s still lovely. $32.99 for the 4 oz. size.

Vanilla Bean

Whenever I am stressed, I take a whiff of Vanilla Bean straight from the bottle. Not surprisingly, it’s from the Calming collection. It smells absolutely divine, and it almost instantly makes me feel better.

Although called Vanilla Bean, to me it isn’t a gourmand scent. I think it’s a mix of vanilla and flowers. It’s lovely.

Here’s the description on the website:

“This essential aroma oil blend combines the sweet, earthy scent of ambergris with the softness and warmth yet comforting fragrance of vanilla creating a soothing and revitalizing ambiance.”

Top Note: Vanilla, coconut
Mid Note: Narcissus
Base Note: Black fragrant beans, sandalwood,  ambergris

So I was right: Vanilla Bean is vanilla mixed with flowers with some deeper base notes. I adore it. $32.99.

There are so many other aroma oils from Scent New York that I am eager to try. The diffusers and oils are sold on the Scent New York website. If you’re looking for something more unusual to put in your diffuser or you wish to create a sophisticated ambience in your home or business, you must check out Scent New York.

My only small nitpick is that I wish the bottle had a removable dropper top so that if you are using it in a small room diffuser like I am, there would be a way to control how much oil comes out of the bottle.

Otherwise, I love ’em!
