Ouch! – Derma E Ultra Hydrating Lip Plumping Treatment

PR Sample, Affiliate Links

You know I’m a fan of vegan, cruelty-free, affordable Derma E skincare products. But Derma E Ultra Hydrating Lip Plumping Treatment was a bit of a surprise.

Ultra Hydrating Lip Plumping Treatment

Ultra Hydrating anything is up my alley, so I was eager to try the Ultra Hydrating Lip Plumping Treatment that I received from Derma E. I noticed on the box that they flagged the three hero ingredients:

  • hyaluronic acid
  • cinnamon
  • jojoba oil.

I won’t lie, “cinnamon” jumped out at me and gave me pause. But I love eating cinnamon, so what could be the harm, right? Cinnamon is the plumping ingredient in the Lip Treatment.

Ouch! I couldn’t believe how strong the cinnamon effect was on my sensitive lips, especially since I pumped out a lot to start with. Since my lips can’t handle peppermint, I wasn’t surprised that cinnamon stings my lips, too. Fortunately, the stinging sensation lasts for about 2 or 3 minutes, then goes away completely. Nevertheless, it’s an uncomfortable 2 to 3 minutes.

I have used Ultra Hydrating Lip Plumping Treatment several times, and thankfully, unlike peppermint, cinnamon doesn’t seem to have any ill effects on my lips beyond the initial discomfort.

Effects/Benefits

The cinnamon (and maybe also the clove flower oil and paprika extract) does seem to produce a lip plumping effect. Not gigantic, but similar to using City Lips. Plus the juiciness of the hyaluronic acid/jojoba oil combo makes my lips look glossy and full.

Because the cinnamon irritates, it also brings blood to the lips and makes them look pinker/redder or less pale.

To be honest, the plumping and coloring benefits are not so important to me. But the hydration is.

The hydrating formula is very, very soothing and nourishing. Extremely comforting and comfortable. It isn’t sticky. And it is long-lasting.

Ultra Hydrating Lip Pumping Treatment also produces a wonderful shine.

Other Details

The applicator pump is easy to use. You point the pump downwards on the lip and push down on the pump slowly to release a little at a time.

The MSRP for Derma E Ultra Hydrating Lip Plumping Treatment is $17.50 for 0.34 fl. oz./10 ml, though the price varies from $12-18 depending on the retailer. It’s sold on the Derma E website, iHerb.com, Natural Healthy Concepts, Walmart, Smallflower.com, and Vitacost.com.

Recommended?

Once the tingling goes away, I like Derma E Ultra Hydrating Lip Plumping Treatment. Except for the tingling, it feels quite similar to my fave City Lips. At this point, I’m not sure if I will repurchase this once it’s finished up. I will have to see if my lips get used to the cinnamon.

I read through the comments on the website. The majority of comments were positive, though there were commenters who had an uncomfortable tingling like I did. Many of the comments were pleased with the plumping and lip color.

If you have sensitive lips, Derma E Ultra Hydrating Lip Plumping Treatment is probably not for you. If you don’t, you may like this nourishing, hydrating, comfortable gloss.
