LUSH, the “fresh handmade cosmetics” bath & body store with the great colors and scents, is the perfect place to stop for last minute little gifts and stocking stuffers. I am not immune to its siren song, and I stopped in last week when I was at the mall.
If you follow my blog, you may remember that I love all things hearts. So I had to have LUSH Santa’s Lip Scrub that is described on the jar as “cola flavored sugary scrub for a sweet polished pout”. My lips are soooo dry, and I needed a exfoliator since the DIY lip scrub I made a few months ago should be thrown out now. But to be honest, that’s not why I bought it. It’s for the red hearts, of course.
It is necessary to use Santa’s Lip Scrub while standing over the sink. The red sugar is crumbly because the formula is drier than I expected.
As a result, the little red hearts can end up all over your face and the sink. (That’s kind of a complaint, but nothing major.)
I rub it into my lips, the crystals make my dry flaky skin disappear, my lips look a little red because of the red coloring, and my lips feel soft again. LUSH instructs you to “lick it off”, but since that seems to defeat the purpose I don’t actually do that. By rubbing it on my lips, the extra crystals end up in my mouth anyway. The flavor is cherry cola-ish, but not very strong. I follow up with lip balm.
At $8.95 for 25g (a little jar), LUSH Santa’s Lip Scrub is a perfect little gift for a girly girl or a heart lover of any age. Hopefully, LUSH will lose the “Santa’s” name and reissue this product in a couple of months for Valentine’s Day. But in case they don’t, buy some now. It’s super cute, a little messy, but it works.
Ingredients: natural ingredients and safe synthetics
sounds like a fun and useful little product (and stocking stuffer)
It is, Lois! very cute and though it’s not moisturizing long-term, it’s a great exfoliator!
It’s super-cute and I wish I had known about this lip scrub before I went to Lush last week because I literally was not able to look around for even a minute in peace! I was trailed (stalked!) by two over-eager sales associates the second I entered the store. “What are you looking for?” “How can I help you?” (x2) “Who are you buying this for?” “Would you like to donate $5.99?” “Would you like a tin?” “Have you been to Lush before?” “Have you tried our bath products?” “Do you know about our lotions?” I wanted to scream “SHUT UP!!!!!! It was so, so bad. I hastily grabbed the one thing I did know I wanted and bolted. Had I been able to look around just for a moment, I know the lip scrub would have caught my eye.
I had a similar experience, Sybille. It was very annoying. I finally said I just wanted to look around on my own, and they left me for a few minutes. At some point, I will see if there’s a place on their website to contact them.
I might do the same! It’s just too overbearing. I immediately said I just wanted to browse and my entire body language was like “BACK OFF!” but no, they were just too sales-horny to care.
We should both do it so they get the message! (I love the way you put it, Sybille, LOL 😉 )
