My New Shoes: Sustainable Summer Sandals and Fall Loafers

Nisolo Sandals

It may be too late to talk about my new summer sandals. But I’m an optimist, and I believe that the warm weather will be around for another month or so in the Boston area. And I know lots of you live where it’s warm enough for sandals all year round.

Nisolo is a sustainable, community-oriented shoe brand, based in Nashville that I discovered on Newbury Street in Boston. Though I pass the store when I go in to Boston to Sassoon,

I bought both of my Nisolos online! I wrote about the brand as well as my booties that I bought last fall here. All of their shoes and accessories are leather and beautifully crafted by their employees in the U.S.

I think I mentioned before that Nisolo is sold from time to time on the website of 260 Sample Sale, and the discounts are substantial. Unfortunately, their most recent sale was last week, but the brand has their own 30% off sale with the code THANKS30. Plus, I just got an email from Nisolo that said there’s an additional discount on Clearance products. Worth a look! In addition, Nisolo shoes are sold on Zappos.com and at Macy’s (where they are on sale now too).

When Nisolo shoes were on sale in early August at 260 Sample Sale, I bought a pair of sandals, Stella Go-To Block Heel Sandals.

They’re casual but a little dressier than many of my everyday sandals that tend to be wedges. The chunky block heels are right on trend. I chose the shade, Bone, because I didn’t have any shoes in that particular light color. Nisolo shoes even come with their own dust bag which is great for traveling and storage.

I’m happy with them, and I wore them last night to a party. The original price at Nisolo was $170, but 260 Sample Sale had them at about 70% off!

Earth Shoes Penny Loafers

All summer, I have been wearing a pair of navy blue fabric slip-on shoes that are three years old. And they look every day of their 3 years because I wear them so often.

They are so comfortable. They have just the right size lift/heel because completely flat shoes just don’t work for me. I would love to buy another pair of the Grasshoppers by Keds Quinn Wedge Loafers, but they seem to have disappeared from the market. I found a new pair in an off-white shade at a Canadian shoe store, but for shoes I wear everyday, I know that color won’t work especially for the sale price of $65. I ended up buying a never-worn pair on Poshmark for $19 in a half size larger than I usually wear, but at that price, what the heck! Hopefully, they’ll fit well enough for next summer.

I’m glad I’ll have a new pair for next summer, but I realized that I need a new pair of comfortable shoes for September-November when the temperatures around here start to get colder. I thought I would look for a pair of loafers that would remind me of my Grasshoppers. I found a pair from DSW.com that fit the bill.

My new autumn shoes are Earth Shoes Javas Round Toe Casual Slip-On Penny Loafers in Dark Blue (they come in 7 different colors!). The slightly elevated heel is perfect for me.

And they are literally the most comfortable loafers I have ever worn because of the cushioned footbed!

I heartily recommend the Earth Shoes Penny Loafers for casual wear, work or anytime. The regular price for the Javas Penny Loafer on the Earth Shoes website is $109, but I paid $84 at DSW by using their promotions. I think these loafers will last me a long time!

My Email Service Company Woes and Next Week

I believe that my blogpost from Wednesday was delivered only by my usual email service provider, Madmimi, that’s closing on Friday. I can’t figure out how to get Birdsend to take over and send out my posts! Did anyone get two copies, one from Madmimi and one from Birdsend, by any chance?? Please let me know if you did get two!

Next week, it’s possible that I won’t have figured out how to get Birdsend to email my posts especially since this is a holiday weekend. So if you don’t get a blogpost from me via email on Saturday and on Monday or Tuesday, it means I still haven’t been able to figure it out. But you might check my website if you’re so inclined! 😛 😀

I could use a pair of flats in that color but since I wear a W width they are hard to find. I looked at today’s email and it’s from MadMimi.

    1. Do you mean the Bone shade from Nisolo? Yes, they only have one width, but I have been seeing more and more brands that come in Ws too! Thank you for checking my email. I’m still trying to get this new email service that Cordelia recommended to work! I forgot that C. works in tech!
