While browsing Vietri’s post-holiday sale, I bought the small size, 3.38 fl. oz. Erbario Toscano’s Vaniglia Piccante Diffuser (Spicy Vanilla) reviewed here. I loved it! The spicy vanilla scent broadcast throughout at least half of my bedroom. And shock of shocks, my bottle still isn’t finished 8 months later!
Nevertheless, I love the Vaniglia Piccante diffuser scent so much, I bought two additional bottles during Vietri’s Warehouse Sale in April. While I was at it, I bought a travel size atomizer of Erbario Toscano Vaniglia Piccante EDP. Although I loved the scent of the EDP, I found it didn’t last on me. Recently, I finished up the atomizer. Since autumn is just around the corner, I thought I would try it again.
This time, I discovered a 50 ml spray bottle of Vaniglia Piccante EDP on sale at a website that I never heard of before, Shave Shack Texas. I was surprised to find that the spray bottle of the scent lasts much longer on me. Yay! And no surprise that I love the scent because it contains so many of my favorite accords:
To continue my love fest, the notes are also my faves:
- Top notes are Nutmeg, Caramel, Labdanum, Thyme and Eucalyptus
- Middle notes are Incense, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Cedar and Peach Blossom
- Base notes are Vanilla, Amber, Allspice and White Musk.
The gender neutral fragrance was introduced in 2012, and fortunately, Erbario Toscano (Herbs of Tuscany) in Italy still makes it.
In spite of my love for this scent, I checked the reviews on Fragrantica, and reactions are decidedly mixed. There are a number of vanilla and amber lovers who feel the way that I do about it, but there are others that feel that it isn’t “vanilla-y” enough or spicy enough. There are a few who say it makes them sick because it’s too sweet. Oh well, fragrance is so personal, it’s difficult to recommend a fragrance that’s a success for everyone.
If Spicy Vanilla isn’t your thing, Erbario Toscano makes quite a few Italian countryside inspired scents. In addition to diffuser oil and eau de parfum, Erbario Toscano also makes shampoo/shower gel, body cream, scented candles, and home & linen spray.
I just tried to visit the Shave Shack Texas website to list it as a source for Vaniglia Piccante. No wonder the fragrance was on sale! Shave Shack Texas is no more. Boo! In addition, Vietri doesn’t seem to be carrying Erbario Toscano right now either, though their Warehouse Sale is happening in mid-October and that’s where I bought the diffuser and travel size EDP. Hoping it will be back at Vietri.
Luckily for me, Erbario Toscano Vaniglia Piccante EDP is sold in the 50 ml and 100 ml sizes on Emporio Italiano and the 50 ml size is also sold on Beauty Queen Supply. <3
