Teadora Rainforest At Dawn Nourishing Body Polish

About a month or so ago, I received Teadora Rainforest At Dawn Exfoliating Lip Butter to try out. (Reviewed here.) I adored this citrus-scented lip balm exfoliator. It tastes and smells so delicious, I could eat it.

As I mentioned in that review, Teadora’s products are:

  • natural
  • inspired by the rainforests in South America
  • made with nourishing and sustainable ingredients from the rainforest.

Because I love the company’s mission (sustaining the rainforest!) as well as the first product I tried, I was so happy to get to try another one: Teadora Rainforest At Dawn Nourishing Body Polish. The product comes in a small plastic tube that’s perfect for use in the shower. I got the 1.5 oz size that’s priced at $10. It’ s a nice size for travel or to slip in a gym bag. It comes in a larger, 6 oz. size for $34.

The product is described on the Teadora website as follows:

  • Release your inner glow! Teadora’s unique blend of Brazilian ingredients crafted into the Teadora Hydration Elixir removes dead skin, minimizes ingrown hair, and smooths and brightens skin. An added bonus? We use Amazonian Clay-one of nature’s most perfect beauty ingredients- to simultaneously reduce dry patches and remove oil. Packed with Antioxidant and vitamin-rich Buriti, Babassu, Brazil Nut, Rose Hip Seed, and Maracujá oils, plus potent exfoliants such as Açaí Seeds and Amazonian Clay, our ultra-smooth Nourishing Body Polish removes dead skin while providing amazing hydration for brighter, healthier, smoother skin.

Sounds great!

The Nourishing Body Polish that comes out of the tube that I received is brown in color. It definitely looks like it came from the rainforest. In fact, it looks and feels a bit like very clean  mud.

And it has a deep, earthy smell…kinda like the rainforest. On a trip to Puerto Rico years ago, it rained from the minute we landed in San Juan till two hours before we left 4 days later.  We went to the rainforest in the rain, and this product definitely smells like the rainforest that I experienced in Puerto Rico. I thought the scent “At Dawn” was going to be the citrus scent like the Lip Butter. However, I can’t say I smell any citrus notes at all, and I would like to. It is also available in the At Dusk, a chocolate-berry scent, though I have heard that it has a deep, earthy scent too. With the herbaceous scent that both have, I definitely think they are gender-neutral products that can easily be used by men who want to smooth their winter dry skin.

The product is described as a body polish. I think there’s a difference between “body polish” and “body scrub”. Although the mud-like product has some grit to it from the acai berries, there’s not that much grit. As a result, it isn’t quite a real body scrub. It gives a light exfoliation, and it softens skin with ingredients that feel like light oils. Although I wish it exfoliated a little more – more like a true scrub, it does make my skin feel smooth. If you have sensitive skin, this may be just the thing  🙂

If you’re looking for a gentle, cruelty-free body polish made with natural ingredients and environmentally-friendly that leaves your dry winter skin lightly exfoliated and lightly moisturized, check out Teadora Rainforest At Dawn Nourishing Body Polish.

  1. Awesome review!! I want to try the At Dawn Lip Butter now!! <3

    1. Thank you, Shipra! I love the At Dawn Lip Butter to provide light exfoliation. Although it has some balm-like features, it’s not as hydrating as Jack Black or my beloved City Lips clear. But it does smooth my lips quite well and it hydrates for a little while and it tastes and smells fantastic!

  2. Sounds like a great company, but I prefer more of a harsh scrub also!

    1. Teadora Beauty products are wonderful. I just think this one could use a little more scrub and a little more orange oil in the formula 🙂

  3. FABULOUS review, Allison! As you recall, I have their Dusk Body Polish, and am thoroughly impressed with it! Now I really want Dawn as well! <3

    1. Teadora Nourishing Body Polish is a very nice product. I like that it is natural, doesn’t have microbeads, and it is hydrating. Just wish it had a little more scrub and a slightly more enticing scent like the lip butter 🙂

  4. If it smells like El Yunque in Puerto Rico.. Then I’m totally in lol! I went to El Yunque this past June when I was in PR visiting family and I just fell in love with the smells of the rain forest. And for only $10 for this body polish? It’s pretty much a steal!

    1. Thank you, Brianna!!! El Yunque was the name of the rainforest!! I’ve been trying hard to remember it but it was a long time ago. It was very beautiful there, but as I mentioned, it rained the entire time we were in PR in March many years ago 🙂

  5. This sounds nice, but I also kind of prefer a body scrub too..

    1. The Teadora Body Polish is good for 3 seasons, I think, but for real winter, it won’t exfoliate and hydrate quite enough for my very dry skin.

  6. This product sounds pretty good. I like to have a range of scrubs under my sink from super scrub (apricot scrub) to a light scrub.

    1. This is definitely a light scrub, but it does make skin smoother and more hydrated. It’s perfect for this season rather than for colder, harsher weather.

  7. I like the scent of this one. I, like you, wish it was a little more scrubby.

    1. I really adored the At Dawn scent in the lip balm so I was expecting more of a citrus scent in this one too. But it is a nice product that provides a light exfoliation and light hydration. I’ll need bigger guns later once we really start to experience winter.

  8. Sounds nice, although I do prefer a fairly heavy scrub.

    1. This would not be a strong enough scrub for you, but it gives a nice light exfoliation and light hydration with natural ingredients that don’t harm the environment

    1. Absolutely. And I think it’s perfect for now before the weather is too cold and skin is too dried out.

  10. This looks like something I would LOVE!

    1. Natural, good for the environment, light exfoliation, light hydration= very nice product!

  11. I love how you described the scent of this scrub! I really want to try this line.

    1. ha! It really is like being in a rainforest, Tina! I buy many bath products for their scent, but I wouldn’t buy this one for the scent. It’s not objectionable, it’s just not a selling feature 😉

  12. Great review! I wasn’t fond of the scent, but to each their own!

    1. There are so many skincare and beauty products that I use because I love the scent. This isn’t one of them. But I don’t find the earthy scent objectionable, it’s just not a key reason to buy it 😉

  13. This sounds nice, other than the scent. I wonder how strong it is though… if I could get past it then it would def be worth it.

    1. The scent is earthy, and unfortunately, I can’t smell any of the At Dawn citrus scent that I loved in the lip balm. It does give a nice light exfoliation and light hydration with natural ingredients and no microbeads

  14. I’m obsessed with body exfoliants during winter!

  15. I didn’t realise there was a difference between Body Polish and Body Scrub but I guess you’re right, polish products tend to contain smaller granules that aren’t as abrasive.

    1. It’s a good body polish, and I love the fact that it’s natural and does not have microbeads. But it gives a light exfoliation, not as strong as a true scrub, and it lightly hydrates.

  17. I like that it’s got the oils in it for added hydration, but I like more scrub in my scrub too!

  20. You and I had very similar experiences with these products! I was glad to hear that they are reformulating these polishes to be a bit more scented. I need a little aromatherapy in my shower!

Agata recently posted…Holiday Makeup LookMy Profile

    1. Agata, I just heard that they are about to revise the scent. I don’t mind it at all. It smells earthy, herbaceous, natural which is what the product is. But the citrus At Dawn scent in the Exfoliating Lip Butter is so fantastic that I want to eat it!

  25. I keep hearing this is lovely!

    1. It’s a nice lightweight/mild exfoliator and light hydrator. I hear they’re going to add more fragrance to it, too.

  26. Sounds divine!

    1. It’s a wonderful light exfoliator and hydrator. And the natural, cruelty-free benefits are extra great 🙂

  27. Val Cole says:

Allison, thanks for the fantastic review. You nailed it on the light exfoliation for more sensitive skin. The polish was meant to be so light and creamy that it is gentle enough to be used as a facial exfoliant if desired, and several of us and customers do. You also nailed it on the scents, they were meant to transport you to rainforest moments and therefore are more herbal and earthy side, as such a great option for the guys in our lives. Even though it is light, the combo of the Amazonian Clay, Acaí Seeds and the RainforestHydrationElixir oils make it for a powerful exfoliating mud. We also have the option of our Exfoliating Bar with a similar set of ingredients and scents, but much heavier exfoliant action. We appreciate the fact that a lot of customers enjoy a much heavier exfoliant action, and given that, are about to come out (early Feb) with two new DualFunction Scrubs (Salt and Sugar) in a line that we are calling Illuminance. We will be using this amazing exotic clay we are really excited about. We are also using a more flowery/fruitier scent we are calling Amazonian afternoon. Let us know if you are interested in testing this product, we’d love to send you an early sample when we have it available. We are definitely doing this for you to enjoy a bit of our beloved Amazon rainforest, Cheers, Val

    1. Thank you so much, Val, for the information on your future plans for Teadora including the new scrubs, the news scents as well as how the current body polish is meant to be used. I would be thrilled to test the new scrubs as soon as they are available!! Because I didn’t have any background information on the body polish, I reviewed it as a consumer who didn’t have any upfront info or instructions. I am enjoying the body polish, and now I am happy to learn that I can use it on my face to remove dead skin cells without irritating my skin, yahoo! I look forward to using more of the wonderful Teadora Beauty products. (In fact, I’ve gotta try the lotions one of these days). Keep up the great work, happy holidays and continued success in 2015 🙂
