Just in time for real spring weather and the glorious summer yet to come, Mirabella sent me their new Lighten Up Collection Spring 2016. I’m in absolute love with these bright, warm spring hues that are perfect for this redhead…but frankly, I think they look great on brunettes, blondes, raven haired and pastel-haired beauties alike.
Let’s take a look at the gorgeous Mirabella Lighten Up Collection.
I received:
- Visionary Long-Wearing Eyeshadow
- Glowing Coral Brilliant Mineral-based Highlighter
- Colour Vinyl Lipstick in Balmy Nectar
and though technically not part of the Lighten Up Collection, I also got Mirabella Lasting Lash Waterproof Mascara that’s just perfect for summer.
Let’s go through the products one at a time.
Visionary Long-Wearing Eyeshadow
I’ve said about a million times what a big fan I am of cream eyeshadows because of my dry eyelids, so I was thrilled to get these babies. They’re a creamy, silky consistency that’s similar to but a little richer than ColourPop shadows. Once on, they morph into a satin matte powder finish. The color is buildable so you can go for as deep and vibrant a look as you like.
Mirabella says that the shadows are made with “elastomer gel” to moisturize while absorbing excess oils and that also help mask wrinkles through an optical blurring effect. They’re made to be flattering on women of all ages. Sounds like a win-win to me.
Also, these shadows can be used as blush as well. Gotta try that soon!
The three shades are:
- Vivid: vibrant coral
- Charmed: dusty pink
- Imagine: beige shimmer.
Amber Brown, the Mirabella Creative Director, suggests using Vivid for blue eyes, and Charmed for brown, but first time out I used all three together to see how they look together, and I think they work. Although Imagine is described by Mirabella as “beige shimmer”, on my eyes it looks darker and I actually was able to use it in my V. I think the shades look quite arresting next to my blue eyes. I think they’d look spectacular with brown eyes.
I wear these eyeshadows over primer, and I have had no creasing. And the shadows are very long-wearing, no fading, they stay on till I take them off.

Mirabella Brilliant Mineral-Based Highlighter in Glowing Coral
I’m already a fan of Mirabella Brilliant Mineral-Based Highlighters. I’ve got a brilliant white one from Holiday 2014 that is stunning. The Mirabella Highlighters look so gorgeous in the pan as well as on the skin. This new one in Glowing Coral is just my shade. Though it’s billed as a highlighter, I also use it as a blush because it gives a great glow without being too shiny. Perfect.
Price $40 for 7.5 g. This will last forever – it’s nice and big!

Colour Vinyl Lipstick in Balmy Nectar
Balmy Nectar is a new shade of existing Colour Vinyl Lipstick, but it’s the first one I’ve tried. It’s described as a “glossy lipstick formula” with “extended 10 hour wear”. It feels so good on my lips, but I don’t get anywhere near 10 hours of wear with it. This particular shade looks and feels more like a balm on my dry lips which makes sense because it contains raspberry extract, BerryFlux Vita, that moisturizes and provides elasticity, as well as argan oil and lychee extract that provide anti-oxidants and hydration.
Although the color in the bullet looks like a bright peachy pink, on my lips it’s sort of a MLBB pink, very pretty but not as bright as I thought it would be.
Also, on me, it’s semi-sheer. I’d like to try a deeper shade from the line to see if it performs differently: more opaque and long-lasting? It has a great shiny finish, and it’s made with gel technology so lips appear smoother.
It comes in a fat tube that has a metallic side that works as a mirror on the top. Very handy for quick touch-ups!

Mirabella Lasting Lash Waterproof Mascara
Although Lasting Lash Waterproof Mascara isn’t part of the Lighten Up Collection, it’s a new mascara from Mirabella and it’s become my go-to mascara since it arrived. The reason is I love a mascara with a small-toothed wand.
For my long, but invisible blonde lashes, this wand does the best job of coating my lashes. It’s easier for me to get every lash, and to try to make sure I get mascara on my long outer lashes to give my eyes more of a cat look.
To me, this formula is particularly good at lengthening rather than volumizing. I’m OK with that. Volumizing formulas often end up clumping on my lashes, so darkening and lengthening work just fine for me.
What really surprised me is that I have fallen for a waterproof mascara! I never buy waterproof mascara because I hate removing it. It’s always a struggle. I use oil-free removers, these days Garnier Micellar Water (reviewed here), and in the past, I couldn’t get off a waterproof mascara. Mirabella Lasting Lash Waterproof Mascara is different. Mirabella says, “It was formulated to break down every barrier that is typical with other stay put options.” And for me, it has done just that. Garnier Micellar Water (the pink one that’s not made for removing waterproof eye makeup) easily removes this mascara.
Plus I have no fall out, flaking or clumping. And my lashes feel flexible rather than stiff. The formula contains Panthenol, an ingredient you often find in shampoo and conditioner. In this mascara, Panthenol provides a protective barrier around the lashes and also gives them moisture so they stay healthier and stronger. Nice.

I’m delighted with the new makeup from Mirabella. The colors really suit me, and I love the new waterproof mascara. I wear the mascara everyday, but it’ll be great to wear to the beach!
Although I’ve written about Mirabella before, let me just remind you that it’s a fabulous line of makeup used by salon and spa professionals particularly because it’s a high quality mineral-based, talc and paraben-free formula. It’s also a cruelty-free brand. You can buy Mirabella on the website mirabellabeauty.com.
In the look below, I’m wearing the Mirabella Lighten Up eyeshadows, the Highlighter and the Lasting Lash Waterproof Mascara. Love ’em all!
I am on a highlighter kick recently so obviously I am all gooey eye seeing this highlighter, it’s soooo pretty! I wish the mascara gives a little bit of volume, my lashes is very fine and thin so it needs all the volume that they can get.

The highlighter really is stunning, and the white one I have is equally gorgeous! You are right about the mascara – if you have fine lashes, this isn’t for you. Tho Mirabella bills it was both lengthening and volumizing, I think you’d have to apply several coats. I find that any of the mascaras with wands with small plastic teeth are better at lengthening and also better at no clumping but are less good with volume.
Love the wand of the water proof mascara! I really like a thin wand as opposed to those big fat wands. Really pretty colors in this collection. I did just get rid of a bunch of pigments as these seem to migrate into my eyes and one day it was so bad (from Mac’s Naked pigment) that I had to wash my entire face and start over :0(

I took stock of my favorite mascaras, Monica, and I determined that they all have this thin wand with short/medium plastic teeth. I find them so much easier to use and less clumping than the “big fat wands”, too! What a good feeling you must have purging the pigments that didn’t stay put! Fortunately, these Visionary shadows really do go from cream to powder and stay where I put them. Yesterday I swatched the shades on my arm and forgot they were there. I wore them till I got ready for bed, and they hadn’t budged. I tried washing them off with soap, and they stayed on, but they easily came off with Garnier MW. I was impressed
Colour Vinyl Lipstick in Balmy Nectar is absolutely stunning on you!!!!! This mascara sounds fantastic, and I don’t tend to gravitate toward waterproof formulas either! You look absolutely GORGEOUS, Allison!

Thank you so much, Helen! I’m wearing Balmy Nectar right now. It’s a terrific everyday shade for spring and summer. Just enough coral to give it some punch.
What beautiful products! I need to find a place to get some of these near me. I’d love to play with those cream eye shadows as I’m a huge fan as well.

I hope there is a salon near you that carries them, Stacie, but if you’re interested, I believe that Mirabella.com has free shipping. I’m wearing the pink/Charmed today. I think all three shades would look great with your dark eyes!

Thank you, Laura! I was wearing the lipstick again today – it really is a perfect MLBB color for this time of year! The Mirabella Highlighters never disappoint. They are gorgeous in the packaging and on the skin. I’m wearing it as a blush again today. It’s so pretty 🙂 Have you ever tried Mirabella? I learned about it a couple of years ago in a blogging group, and it’s become one of my faves
Mirabella is one of my favorite makeup brands and the Light Up collection definitely does not disappoint. Looks great, Allison!
Thank you, Kelly, and thanks for taking the time to chime in xoxo
The imagine shade looks really natural – like a shimmery version of your skin color. I think it would be great for a really light summer makeup look.

It does look very natural and shimmery. On me, it reads a little darker, like a milk chocolate shade and fortunately for me, it’s not very shimmery just enough.
This collection screams my name. You look gorgeous!

Thank you, Ursula! The shades are a little different from what I usually wear, but I think they’re fun especially for this season

I think you’d love these, and you’d have fun with the shades too!
I love the idea of the eyeshadows more than I like the colors. I might feel differently if I used them though. I’d absolutely try them on my cheeks though. The highlighter looks fabulous.

I could see hat the pink and coral shadows might not be for everyone, but Imagine, the neutral milk chocolate with delicate shimmer could work for just about everyone. The consistency and long-lastingess of the shadow are really impressive. Like ColourPop but better quality. The highlighter is just wonderful.
NEED that highlighter!
You definitely do, Lisa! It’s gorgeous and it works as a blush too!
Those eyeshadows look gorgeous!
