One of my very favorite pairs of pierced earrings are fabricated from lightweight, sparkly resin. I bought them at a craft fair in Boston several years ago. Unfortunately, I forgot the name of the artisan.
I love them not only for the fun sparkle, but because they don’t weigh down my earlobes. Over time, the holes on my earlobes have gotten bigger from wearing heavy earrings, and I am trying to avoid have surgery to repair them.
On Cyber Monday, I came across a shop on Etsy that specializes in vibrant resin jewelry and other items: RoxiKo Designs. They were having a sale so I ended up buying three pairs of dangly earrings and a set of refrigerator magnets.
The first set of earrings that caught my eye were made from little colored beads that looked like what we in Massachusetts call “jimmies” or multicolored sprinkles that you would put on cookies or ice cream. They come in different shapes, and I probably should have bought the rounded ones that were not quite as long as the ones I chose.
Next, a pair of aqua/teal ombré hoop earrings caught my eye. And finally, a pair of ombré discs that go from orange to hot pink. Because my thick shoulder length hair often obscures that earrings I’m wearing, I figured these would show up. And they do!
The brightly colored refrigerator magnets were something I could use, and they helped me qualify for free shipping. So they were essentially free since they cost even less than the shipping would have. The magnets comes as discs like I chose and also dome shapes.
In addition to the vibrant pieces I chose, RoxiKo Designs also makes barrettes, stud earrings, key chains, and home accessories – dishes, coasters, more magnets, jewelry dishes, framed art pieces – in ocean motifs using alcohol inks, brightly colored dye-based paints that are used in creating free flowing textures and patterns. They’re really pretty and would make nice house warming gifts for beach lovers.
The items range from about $10 and up. Most of the earrings range from $13.00-$16.00. Since the next gifting holiday is Valentine’s Day, they make an affordable and fun gift.
