On another note, I am not exactly sure how I will be able to see with one eye hopefully fixed after my cataract surgery on Wednesday, and one eye not fixed. They only replace the lens in one eye at a time. I am trying to figure out how I will be able to drive, read and see my computer screen. I’ve been near-sighted since I was 11, but now I am getting distance lenses put into my eyes. Ultimately I hope I will only need readers. But truth be told, I am rather clueless on how this will really work out especially till I get both eyes taken care of.

I hope the procedure goes well, and I also hope the folks at the surgery center will help me figure out how to navigate the world till I get my second eye done in early December.

If I can see, I’ll be back late this week or next 🙂

All positive thoughts going your way Allison. I’m sure they will help you figure out how to navigate the time between eyes, they must have a ton of experience with that. I’m excited for you,let me know how it works out.I’ve been nearsighted since kindergarten and am always interested when people find permanent correction for it. I’ll miss your blog but enjoy your down time. All my best,my friend. xo

    1. Thank you so much, Laura, for the good wishes! I really appreciate it. I think it will be interesting to switch from being near-sighted for so long to being far-sighted. I was going to stay near-sighted, but when I realized that I may be able to give up the expense of having to buy distance glasses and bifocal contact lenses in exchange for readers, it seemed worth it. I will definitely let you know. And you are right, they have experience with telling people what to do during the in-between time, but I wish they had been clearer about it. The young woman who is the surgical coordinator was very nice, but she was around 32 years old, and her answers to a number of questions I posed were kind of vague. I guess I’ll see (pardon the pun) tomorrow. Take care!

My mother had her eyes done years ago. She had the lens in one eye for distance and the other for near. Took her a bit but the got used to it. Senting positive thoughts your way

Thank you so much for thinking of me, Gloria! Your mom had monovision. I had contacts like that for several years, but my doctor doesn’t do that with cataract patients. I’m hoping being far-sighted will work out for me after decades of being near-sighted.
