Allison’s Favorite Skincare Products 2022

credit: New Yorker Magazine, January 2023

During 2022, I got to try lots of wonderful skincare products, some that I purchased myself and some that I got from PR companies. I’m sure I am probably forgetting some, especially those from the beginning of 2022. In fact, I found another product that I loved that didn’t make it into the group photo below. Hopefully, I got most of them.

Favorite Neck Cream: Theraderm Flawless Neck Creme

On December 31, I finished up my jar of Theraderm Flawless Neck Creme. It was the perfect weight, IMHO, for a neck cream – not too thick and not too thin. It absorbed almost instantly and was oh so hydrating. Along with DefenAge Neck Cream, it was my favorite of all time definitely beating out StriVectin TL Advanced Neck Cream that is too heavy. The only drawback to Theraderm Flawless Neck Creme is the price. At $95.50, it is too pricey for me to buy on the regular. And Theraderm seldom has brand-wide sales. Boo hoo, I will miss it till I can afford it in the future.

Favorite Mask: DefenAge Two Minute Reveal Masque

DefenAge Two Minute Reveal Masque is an exfoliating mask that I adore because it doesn’t take 20 minutes to work. Heck, it doesn’t even take 5 minutes! So there’s no excuse not to use it regularly. Leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth and refreshed!

Favorite Moisturizers:

I couldn’t limit my favorite new-to-me moisturizers to just one. I like them for different reasons.

Bliss Drench & Quench Moisturizer

I just reviewed Bliss Drench & Quench Moisturizer a couple of weeks ago during the holiday season. So in case you missed the full review, check it out here. Bliss Drench & Quench is one of the two lightest weight but hydrating moisturizers I’ve ever tried. The weight cream turns to water on contact with skin. It truly is a drink of water for skin! Plus it contains hyaluronic acid to help skin hold onto the moisture. Another good thing is it’s affordable and sold at CVS (where I can use coupons) and at Target. Right now,  Bliss Drench & Quench Moisturizer is BOGO50off at Ulta.com.

Luma & Leaf Fresh Lift Moisturizer

Creamy, rich Luma & Leaf Fresh Lift Moisturizer has been my go-to night cream since I received it earlier this year. What’s also great about Luma & Leaf is that it’s a clean beauty brand with an affordable price. You can buy it on the Luma & Leaf website where there’s free shipping, Amazon, QVC, LordandTaylor.com, Verishop.com as well as at Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters.

Favorite New-to-Me Eye Cream: IT Cosmetics Confidence In An Anti-aging Peptide Eye Cream

Although I still adore my last year’s favorite eye cream, City Beauty Lid Lifting Eye Treatment, I like IT Cosmetics Confidence In An Anti-aging Peptide Eye Cream as my everyday lid and crease eye cream because it’s half the price. Plus it is often on sale (although City Beauty Lid Lifting Eye Treatment just had several sales during the holiday season).  It’s lightweight, hydrating for my dry lid and crease skin, yet firming for the skin above my crease. If you like the other IT Confidence In A… collection, you should give this one a try, too. And don’t confuse the Anti-aging Peptide Eye Cream with their other one for dark circles.

Favorite Facial Serum: Vitabrid C Wrinkle Serum

I’ve been dragging my feet for months about writing a full review on Vitabrid C Wrinkle Serum. I guess that’s because I bought this serum at a deep discount on Ipsy a few months ago (I used to buy Vitabrid C at Barneys NY before it went out of business several years ago), and I keep interrupting using it to try out other serums that I have been sent from PR companies. So hopefully, I’ll get a chance to use this serum uninterruptedly one of the these days so I can write about its efficacy.

Nevertheless, Vitabrid C Wrinkle Serum is an “it serum”. I have heard and read great things about Vitabrid C Wrinkle Serum and how effective it is at helping to even out skin tone and smooth fine lines and wrinkles. BTW, Vitabrid C is the brand with the proprietary 12 hour vitamin C.

Here’s how Vitabrid describes the serum: “Wrinkle Serum uses our proprietary Peptibrid (enhanced delivery of skin rejuvenating peptide) and strategically chosen, highly potent Peptide Complex to help rejuvenate the skin…This exclusively developed weightless, highly effective serum is powered by our unique formulation Secret Code P-151™ designed to ensure ingredients are optimized for achieving optimum absorption with skin rejuvenating and advanced aging care…This Wrinkle Serum is clinically proven to help target fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin discoloration and smooth skin texture while refining pores for firmer, resilient looking skin.”

So far, because I don’t get to use it all the time, Vitabrid C Wrinkle Serum is a light/medium weight cream that, for me, almost acts like a facial primer. It gives me additional hydration and an immediate smoothing sensation each time I use it.

If you do consider buying it, it makes the most sense to buy the Vitabrid C Wrinkle Serum Professional Kit that includes not only the Wrinkle Serum but also Face Brightening Vitamin C. It’s a few dollars more than the price of the Serum alone, so it’s well worth it especially if you’re looking for an effective vitamin C.

Favorite Face Oils: I can’t pick just one favorite. I have a few!!

Facial oils are truly the best. Even those with oily skin can use a face oil because they don’t cause oiliness. Instead, they balance the skin and help with excess oil. For dry skin like mine, facial oil is a godsend. Facial oil should be applied at night as the last step in your nighttime skincare routine because they help the anti-aging ingredients in your other skincare products work better by sealing them in. I love applying oils because they help my SpaceTouch Vega glide better on my skin as the red light makes everything work better.

Korres Santorini Grape Velvet Skin Drink

If you’re looking for a super lightweight facial oil, look no further than Korres Santorini Grape Velvet Skin Drink. Seriously, if you decided that facial oils are too heavy for your skin, Korres Velvet Skin Drink is the one you must try!

The consistency feels like oil diluted with water, but it’s just a lightweight oil that immediately sinks into my skin. Importantly, it doesn’t leave behind a greasy feeling. Plus, with Resveratrol, it is rejuvenating, and it smells like grapes! I think I will be using Korres Velvet Skin Drink forever!

Buffalo Gal Magic Mushroom Restorative Beauty Potion

In addition to being a great source of vitamin D, mushrooms provide skin benefits! For the past 4 months, I’ve been using Buffalo Gal Magic Mushroom Restorative Beauty Potion primarily at night. It’s a richer oil made from argan, maracuja, camellia and watercress oils with the power of shiitake, maitake, cordyceps, and chaga mushrooms all in a golden facial oil. In addition to providing hydration, barrier repair and relief from skin sensitivity, it also provides protection from blue light. Since I sit in front of my desktop computer for much of the day, I really appreciate that extra benefit!

I got the 10 ml glass bottle travel size as part of my goodie box from Conscious Beauty Collective (and it lasted me for 4 months of using it just about every night), but it also comes in a larger 1 fl. oz./30 ml size.

Typology Paris Face Oils

Although I think I received a Typology Paris face oil in the travel set I got in early September before our trip to Montreal, I was introduced to wonderful French brand clean beauty Typology Paris skincare and face oils in 2020. I think my favorite one is the firming Nopal face oil derived from cactus (even though it wasn’t one I tried for the first time in 2022). Since cactus gets along with so little water, it knows how to retain moisture. Just perfect!

These were my favorite facial skincare products that were new-to-me from this past year. How about you? Did you try any skincare products for the first time in 2022 that you loved?

Wow! Thank you for all the great recommendations! I receive your posts via e-mail, and I am saving said e-mail in my Need to Buy folder. I still need to try the IT eye cream (based on your earlier review) and I would like to add a face oil and a good neck cream. So I really appreciate your suggestions. Happy New Year – I loved the cartoon! It’s perfect, isn’t it?

    1. Thanks so much, Denise! And thank you for saving my skincare faves post xoxo I still love the IT Anti-aging Peptide Eye Cream – I stocked up buying 2 jars on sale at Macy’s before the holidays. I strongly recommend the Korres Santorini Grape Velvet Skin Oil – the lightweight feel makes it perfect for almost everyone. I wish I could buy the Theraderm Flawless Neck Creme but at $95.50 I can’t right now since I had to buy a new refrigerator and a new hot water heater during the past month. Instead, I ordered a neck cream from Paula’s Choice. I’ll let you know how it goes with that one when it arrives. Glad you like the cartoon. I agree, it’s perfect! Happy New Year to you!!
