Lion Pose UNSPOTTED 4X Dark Spot & Hyperpigmentation AHA Serum

Allure Best of Beauty just announced their winners for 2024. One of the new products I’ve been trying out over the past month is one of their winners! Lion Pose UNSPOTTED 4x Dark Spot + Hyperpigmentation AHA Serum. Yes, that’s a mouthful when it comes to names, but it is worth knowing about!

Lion Pose UNSPOTTED is a dermatologist-developed serum that is supposed to visibly reduce the look of hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and dark spots in as little as two weeks. It can be used by those with normal, dry, oily, and combination skin, though it’s not a good fit for those with sensitive skin.

Here’s what Allure has to say about Lion Pose UNSPOTTED:

“Why It Won: Stubborn discoloration, meet your new arch-nemesis. Lion Pose Unspotted 4x Acid Jelly Night Serum employs azelaic, glycolic, lactic, and tranexamic acids to fade post-acne spots and other hyperpigmentation, while an antioxidant peptide fights free-radical damage. Oh, and one more thing: Aloe teams up with tiger grass to soothe skin.

Tester Feedback: “Hyperpigmentation is one tricky beast, but Lion Pose Unspotted 4x Acid Jelly Night Serum helps tame it with a blend of powerful acids that brighten and resurface skin,” says associate features director Dianna Mazzone Singh. “I noticed results after about two weeks of nightly use—much faster than most other dark spot-reducers I’ve tried—as did my South Asian husband, whom I felt comfortable sharing this with since it was clinically tested on a wide range of skin tones.”

Key ingredients include:

  • 15% Blend of Azelaic, Glycolic, Lactic, Tranexamic Acids that reduce look of hyperpigmentation and dark spots while exfoliating skin.
  • Glutathione is an antioxidant tripeptide protecting skin from free radical damage.
  • Hyaluronic Acid, Tiger Grass, and Aloe are hydrating and soothing ingredients that also promote skin repair.

Lion Pose UNSPOTTED is a clean beauty brand, vegan and hypoallergenic.

Usage recommendations include:

  • Before bed, apply one to two pumps to a clean, dry face.
  • Let product absorb for 30 seconds and then apply moisturizer.
  • Use only as directed. Avoid contact with eyes. Prior to sun exposure, use sunscreen to cover areas where AHAs have been applied.

Ingredient List: Water, Lactic Acid, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Glycolic Acid, Maranta Arundinacea Root Extract, Tranexamic Acid, Azelaic Acid, Coconut Alkanes, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Glutathione, Niacinamide, Sodium Hyaluronate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Prunus Domestica Fruit Extract, Orchis Mascula Flower Extract, Glycerin, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.

Clinical Testing

In an independent testing panel of 30 participants aged 25 to 45, with Fitzpatrick skin tone 2-6, after 4 weeks:

  • 94% saw a reduction in dark spots size
  • 93% agree they saw smoother skin texture after using
  • 86% agree they noticed a more even skin tone after using

My feeling is that in choosing the participants in their sample, age-wise, is that the product is targeted primarily to that group and their skincare concerns. I believe that I am most likely not their target. Nevertheless, I was curious to see what Lion Pose UNSPOTTED Serum might do for me and my lingering dark spots.

My Experience with Lion Pose UNSPOTTED Serum

I’ve been using Lion Pose UNSPOTTED Serum for about a month. I have never used Tranexamic Acid, which I discovered is an ingredient that has anti-inflammatory and anti-melanin-producing properties. It’s used in dermatology for treating of rosacea and hyperpigmentation and it can also help treat acne and improve the skin’s barrier.

It has been a long time since I have used Glycolic Acid. Because in the beginning, the glycolic acid felt a little irritating, I started using Lion Pose UNSPOTTED every other night. After a couple of weeks, I no longer felt the slight irritation and I started using Lion Pose UNSPOTTED almost every night after cleansing my face.

I waited the 30 seconds or so for the white gel-cream to start to absorb, and then I applied moisturizer. I read that it was also OK to use retinol with glycolic and other acids, but I haven’t tried using both as yet.

After about a month’s use, I have noticed that the dark spots on the left side of my face where the sun would come in through the car window over the years have started to fade a bit, to be slightly less obvious. I was surprised that I saw any change in those dark spots since I have always assumed that I need laser treatments to address them. As a result, I intend to continue with Lion Pose UNSPOTTED to see if the dark spots lighten any further.

Because I don’t have acne scars or blemishes, I can’t speak about those effects. But if you have acne scars and/or normal hyperpigmentation, you should read more about and consider trying award-winning Lion Posse UNSPOTTED Serum.

Lion Pose UNSPOTTED 4X Dark Spot + Hyperpigmentation AHA Serum retails at $79 for 30 ml/1 fl. oz. and is sold on the Lion Pose website along with their other products as well as exclusively at Sephora

Thank you for the honest review of this product. I do have a few dark spots on my forehead I’d like to get rid of – I seem to get these no matter how often I apply sunscreen. I assume it would also work on any spots I’ve developed on the back of my hands.

    1. I think Lion Pose UNSPOTTED may be a bit too strong for your sensitive skin. Although I started out using it every other night in the beginning because it had been a while since I used glycolic acid, it took about 2 weeks for me to be able to use it more often and I don’t really have sensitive skin
