AMOREPACIFIC Age Correcting Foundation Cushion SPF 25

I’ve become a fan of cushion foundations.

Have you tried the relatively new liquid or mousse-like foundations, BB or CC creams that come in a compact? For me, their key benefits are:

  • portability – so much easier to carry around than a bottle or even a tube
  • ease of use – not only quick to apply but easy to touch up, if necessary.

A few months ago, I received the fabulous Age Correcting Foundation Cushion with Broad Spectrum SPF 25 Sunscreen from AMOREPACIFIC. I was familiar with AMOREPACIFIC primarily as a skincare company, so I was curious and eager to try their makeup.

AMOREPACIFIC Background

For those of you who aren’t familiar with AMOREPACIFIC, here’s a little background. Started in 1945, the Korean skincare company AMOREPACIFIC is the number one skincare brand in Korea. It is known, not only for innovative and cutting edge skincare and ingredients, but also for corporate responsibility including environmental responsibility. To that end, AMOREPACIFIC utilizes local, carefully grown green tea leaves in its products. Here is what they have to say about their green tea:

  • “AMOREPACIFIC’s sacred and protected gardens are located at the foot of Halla Mountain on the Pacific Isle of Jeju, off the coast of Korea. These gardens are nourished by the world’s purest spring water and mineral-rich volcanic soil, which are the ideal conditions to produce green tea. Here, vital parts of the green tea plant are meticulously grown and handpicked at the peak of their optimal potency, at specific times of the month, day and year, to ensure superior efficacy for its use in skincare.”

It sounds lovely, doesn’t it?

AMOREPACIFIC Age Correcting Foundation Cushion SPF 25 comes in 5 shades, three with pink undertones and two with yellow undertones. As a woman with pink undertones, I was very excited because most foundations and BB/CC creams are too yellow for me. I looked at the chart, and since I’m not very fair, I chose the next shade up: shade 104 Light/Medium with pink undertones.

I was thinking it would be summer, and my light skin would be a little more tanned than usual. Well, I chose wrong. Shade 104 Light/Medium was too dark for me when it arrived in early May, and now in early August, it’s a better match but, truth be told, it’s still a bit too dark. I’m sad because I really love this foundation. So my suggestion if you’re interested in this convenient and lovely foundation, try to see the shades in person to get a good color match.

When the foundation cushion arrived in the mail, I was blown away. It came in a beautiful gold box that contained the compact and a replacement cushion for use after I finish the first one.

The compact itself is stunning, golden and glowing. Inside is a big and useful mirror and a spongy puff that’s perfect for applying the foundation.

The spongy puff is the right size for pressing into the foundation and applying to my face. My only complaint (and it’s the same complaint I have for any cushion compact I’ve tried) is that it’s difficult to wash. I’ve tried using a blending sponge, and it does work, but it defeats the ease of the cushion compact. So I wash the spongy puff, and live with it even though I can’t make it look as pretty and clean as new, not even close.

The foundation is a dream. First, it has a built-in primer. I didn’t believe it, but it’s true. I don’t need to apply a separate primer. Yay! The cushion foundation bounces on easily, is buildable, and provides full coverage. Plus, it is as light as a feather on my skin. It gives me a semi-matte finish with a bit of dewiness.

And the age correcting part is just what the doctor ordered for my well over 40 skin. I love the way the foundation doesn’t settle into my fine lines, wrinkles or pores. My skin looks quite smooth and feels silky. Here are the key ingredients and their benefits:

  • Even-Layer Protective Technology ™ conceals pores and visibly evens out skin tone to prime skin.
  • Long-Lasting™ Complex maintains coverage even through hot and humid conditions.
  • Green Miracle T™ , AMOREPACIFIC’s patented ingredient, helps to restore skin and boosts natural suppleness and density for a youthful appearance.
  • Green Tea Polysaccharides, a powerful antioxidant, protects skin’s surface from environmental aggressors.
  • Broad Spectrum SPF 25 protects skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays that cause skin aging.

AMOREPACIFIC Age Correcting Foundation Cushion SPF 25 is a bit of a splurge at $80, but remember, that includes two cushions. The compact could last for quite a long time. Plus, this is such a lovely compact to take when traveling or to bring to work or out in the evening. And it has those skincare benefits! It can be purchased on the AMOREPACIFIC website by clicking the image below (and there’s an ad for the AMOREPACIFIC Resort Collection Sun Protection SPF 30+ Cushion Compact in my sidebar), at Sephora, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, or Neiman Marcus.

Even though I wish I had gotten the lightest shade, I find myself reaching for the AMOREPACIFIC Age Correcting Foundation Cushion fairly often because it’s so easy to apply and feels so good.

Have you tried AMOREPACIFIC foundation or skincare products? Do you have a favorite cushion foundation?

  1. I haven’t tried this brand, and I think I’ll pass at $80, but I DO love a good cushion foundation, you’re right, they are great for popping into the purse! I’m sorry this one wasn’t quite your shade but you do look lovely! 🙂

Thanks a lot, Judy! $80 initially gave me sticker shock too, but it’s actually not so bad when you think that it’s $40 each, pretty close to what I pay for my Bobbi Brown, Nars and MUFE foundations.

  2. I’ve only tried their skincare; an eye cream and a moisturizer and I really love both. Never tried this though but whoa, $80 is really pricey!

    1. I haven’t tried AMOREPACIFIC skincare products yet but I’d love to. Yes, I got sticker shock too when I saw the price, but that’s for two cushions so it’s really $40, and I pay that for my Bobbi Brown, NARS and MUFE foundations and this particular AMOREPACIFIC cushion has anti-aging ingredients. They have two other (I think) cushions including one that’s color correcting and a higher SPF that’s $60 for two. Not inexpensive, but then AMOREPACIFIC is a luxury brand with great ingredients.

  3. I have been wanting to try this foundation for a long time, and your review really makes me want it now!

    1. It’s a beauty, Helen, but if you do try it, make sure you swatch the shade first. I wish I could trade this one in for the 102, lightest shade because it’s such a lovely cushion foundation

  4. I love Amorepacific skincare but haven’t tried their makeup. I have to stay away from most Korean foundations, for obvious reasons 🙁

    1. Renu, I’m kind of thick – what “obvious reasons”? Something to do with your skin issue, or is it something specific to Korean makeup? Do tell!

  5. It sounds heavenly but unfortunately too expensive for me right now.
Cindy (Prime Beauty) recently posted…PÜR Cosmetics Big Look Lengthening Mascara! My Profile

    1. It is pricey, $40 for each cushion. I think I wish they sold just one cushion at a time to make it more affordable as well as because the shade I have is too dark. But FYI, AMOREPACIFIC has two other cushions that are decidedly less expensive, one is a color correcting foundation. But I must say, the anti aging ingredients and built-in primer are very nice in this one.

  6. It’s too bad that the range of shades is so limited. I’m sure that I’d do good though in the lightest in case they want me to test it LOL. Cushion foundations are terrific for bringing with since it’s all in one.

    1. LOL, I hope they do, Marcia!! I’m not as pale as you are so I was surprised that the step up shade was/is too dark for me. I should have realized with a range of 5 shades that I’d be the lightest one. I keep doing the same thing with IT Cosmetics CC cream. I agree with you about the portability/convenience factor. The best!

  7. Cushion compacts are starting to become my favourite too! I had doubts at first but they cover up quite well! Just wish they had a wider shade range!
Elaine recently posted…Kusshi Makeup BagsMy Profile

    1. Yes, I wish there was a wider shade range too. I think that’s why the shade I picked is too dark. Ah well.

  8. I tried this brand once with an eye cream and I remember LOVING it. The cushion looks fabulous.

    1. I’m eager to try the skincare now! The cushion is fabulous especially for me at my age. There are two other cushions from AMOREPACIFIC that are more affordable that look fabulous too. I just wish I had done a better job guessing on my shade. With a limited shade range (5 colors), I should have known I’d be the lightest, grrrr

  9. 1It’s too bad about the shade. From my experience with Asian brands, they don’t tend to offer many shade choices. This does look like a great foundation otherwise.
Bailey recently posted…THEFACESHOP CC Intense Cover CushionMy Profile

    1. Yes, you’re right. I guess 5 shade choices is pretty good. I have a feeling I would have done much better with the lightest shade, but I judged from the photo and that’s never a good idea

  10. That’s the thing w/ BB or CC, even cushion foundations in general, the limited shade selection is frustrating. I tried another Korean brand Sulwhasoo and the color “match” was awfully off as well
Kath Thefabzilla recently posted…I Got My Mojo On!My Profile

    1. The saleswoman at my local HMart tried the Sulwhasoo cushion on me, and the shades were too yellow for me. 🙁 I really love the formula of the AMOREPACIFIC Age Correcting Cushion – I should have picked the lightest shade knowing about the limited shade range but the photo looked sooooo light. With a regular foundation, I can mix it with CoverFX CCD or with a white additive but with a cushion, I’m stuck with the shade as it is.

  11. You look stunning! I’m not a fan of this formula.

  12. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this cushion foundation! It looks stunning on you!

    1. Thank you, Jodi! Wish I had picked the lighter shade

  13. I’m a huge fan of cushion foundations. I will definitely look for this one to see if there’s a good match for me.

    1. I wish cushions came in a broader range, but the formula on this one is so good, it’s worth a look at shades 104 & 106, I think.

  14. Would love to swatch this for sure. I’m at that age where I’d like to start moving away from drug store foundations and buy more beneficial / anti-aging products now that I’m a more ‘mature’ woman 😉

    1. I think it is worth it to swatch this and the color correcting cushion from AMOREPACIFIC in a store and see if you can find a match. This is a terrific formula.
