Lipgloss is my friend. It’s perfect for semi-perpetually dry lips like mine. I prefer opaque lipgloss that puts serious color on my lips so I don’t have to wear another lipstick underneath.
One of my favorite brands of lipgloss is Anastasia Beverly Hills. In fact, I wrote about a gorgeous mauve shade that’s one of my all-time faves for everyday, Caramel, a soft pinky brown neutral (reviewed here). Because I love neutral Caramel so much, I decided to buy another shade during a 50% off/free shipping ABH sale earlier this year. I wanted an opaque red gloss, but I didn’t see one. Now when I look again, there’s Papaya, a reddish orange that would have done nicely for me. Was it sold out during the sale? I can’t remember.
At any rate, I ended up buying Barbie Pink, a bright but deep pink that I intended to save till summer. I started wearing it last month, and it truly is a perfect summer shade for pink girls like me.
The trouble is I misplaced it. I hoped that by writing about how much I love it, Barbie Pink would show up from wherever it’s hiding. And guess what? I found it in a drawer in a little storage box on my bathroom vanity. Yay.
The website describes ABH lipgloss as being vanilla scented. I wonder if I’m losing my sense of smell because I don’t smell anything. In addition, ABH lipgloss has no discernible taste which is a plus for me. It’s also vegan and cruelty-free.
In addition to being easy to apply with a flat paddle shaped sponge-tip applicator and not overly sticky, what’s particularly cool about ABH lipgloss is that it comes in three finishes:
- Sparkle: Translucent with multidimensional reflect
- Metallic: Highly pigmented with intense shimmer
- Lacquer: Full coverage with a high shine
Because as I mentioned above I like an opaque finish, I go for Lacquer. It has the pigmentation of a stain with the high shine of a gloss. Perfection in my book.
It comes in 41 shades times three finishes. I think that is quite amazing. All are available on the ABH website. If you shop ABH lipgloss at Ulta or Sephora, the inventory is definitely more limited. I’m waiting for their next 50% off sale to pick up Papaya. The regular price is $16 which is rather standard for a prestige brand.

This is such a pretty shade, Allison. I definitely prefer glosses to liquid mattes, and I like the ABH glosses a lot.

I’ve been SLOWLY dipping into glosses recently. I used to hate them but now formulas are so different and they actually make pigmented non-sticky gloss, so I can’t complain!
