Anti-aging and Sun Protection from StriVectin Repair and Protect Moisturizer SPF 30

Just because summer is over doesn’t mean that we can forget about protection from the sun. It’s important during all four seasons regardless of where you live.

One of my all-time favorite skincare brands, StriVectin, sent me their Repair and Protect Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 to try out. Actually, I received it a couple of months ago. But I’m one of those frugal fannies who likes to use things up before moving on. I finished up my summer moisturizers, and I was ready to dig in.

But when it first arrived back in August, I gave Repair and Protect Moisturizer a quick try. My first impression was that this is a heavy moisturizer. It was definitely heavier weight than the lightweight moisturizer with sunscreen that I had been using. So I decided to put it away till the temperature got lower and my skin could benefit from more moisture and protection. Last night the temperature went below freezing so the time is right for Repair and Protect Moisturizer.

StriVectin Repair and Protect Moisturizer SPF 30 comes in an airless pump jar to protect the efficacy of the ingredients. You push down on the top, and some moisturizer bubbles up through the top.

I generally like this type of dispenser because it protects the product, but it’s a bit harder to control how much comes out. And that’s important, IMO, with this moisturizer. A little StriVectin Repair and Protector Moisturizer goes a long way. You really need only a very small amount to cover your entire face.

The moisturizer comes out of the jar white, and if I use too much, my face looks white. But if you rub it in, the white disappears. So I try very hard not to pump out and apply too much. Once the moisturizer sinks in, the whiteness disappears. I was rather surprised about the white color because the sunscreen in this moisturizer is chemical sunscreen rather than physical sunscreen like zinc oxide that always gives me a whitish cast. But as I said, as long as I don’t apply too much, the whiteness isn’t an issue. (Wish I had used this on my hands over the past 20 years or so!)

In addition to preventing further sun damage by providing UVA/UVB protection, StriVectin Repair and Protect Moisturizer SPF 30 with its patented anti-aging ingredient NIA-114 that helps boost skin’s own defenses to:

  • help reduce signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles by enhancing collagen and elastin levels
  • repair dry skin
  • fight free radicals with antioxidant technology.

I know I’ll be especially glad to have this protective, nourishing moisturizer this winter. I just realized I reviewed this moisturizer about a year ago, lol, and I forgot all about it!  😛  Glad to see that my review was pretty consistent! What’s different about this jar of the moisturizer is that it has the airless pump technology – definite improvement!

StriVectin Repair and Protect Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 is priced at $89. It’s widely available at fine retailers such as Macy’s, Nordstrom, dermstore.com, and on the StriVectin website. Right now, StriVectin and Macy’s are both giving away a free travel size TL Advanced Neck Cream (one of my HG products!) with a $50 purchase.

  1. This sounds like something that my skin would appreciates during winter! I love that it has SPF30 too, it’s good for my lazy days. Weird about the whitish cast on you, usually moisturizer with SPF doesn’t do that.

    1. Definitely a great winter moisturizer. The whiteness is a bit bizarre. I expect that from moisturizer with physical sunscreen but it doesn’t usually happen with chemical sunscreen like this one has. I looked at the ingredient list but I can’t figure out why. If I use this judiciously, it’s not a real problem thankfully.

  2. I’m glad you are liking this! Great post. Price is too steep for me though.

    1. It is pricey. I definitely understand. But some of the StriVectin products are available at Costco at a steep discount. Worth taking a look if you shop Costco

  3. I’ve had good luck with this and I love the packaging.

    1. That’s great! Do you have any issues with it giving your skin a white cast?

  4. I only have one StriVectin product in my stash but I wish I had more. This is a brand that I’d love to explore.

    1. So glad you like it too, Helen! Do you have any issues with a white cast, or is it just that I’m applying too much, I wonder?

      1. I don’t have that problem, but I don’t apply too much, and I do massage it in. I wonder, though, if there might be some ingredient interaction with some of the other products that you are using that somehow emphasize the white cast.

        1. Thanks, Helen, for letting me know that you don’t turn white, lol! I think I just need to use less. I realized that I tried this moisturizer more than a year ago when it was in a regular jar. I didn’t have the issue then because I could more easily control the amount I used. I’m having trouble with the airless pump this time: it either pumps out nothing or a lot! So I guess that’s my challenge this time!

  6. Glad it works well for you!

  7. I love StriVectin but this product was a no-go for me.

    1. I’m curious about why. This is a heavy moisturizer, and it was too heavy for me to use in the summer. Now it’s better because it’s getting cold here. I have to watch how much I apply because it turns me white. But if I don’t use too much, it’s fine and doesn’t turn white and it sinks in quickly. After I posted this review, I realized that I had reviewed this over a year ago but it came in a regular jar and it was easier for me to regulate how much I applied to my face without the pump that often pumps up too much. What issues are you having with it, if I may ask?

  8. Same thoughts, I also like this sunscreen

    1. SPF is a must for me year round and especially if I’m outside in the snow. I love having a day cream with built-in SPF. Like you said, this is a good multi-tasker because it also has anti-aging ingredients in it that I can surely use 😉

  10. I did the same thing as you- tried this and put it aside for colder weather! You’ve reminded me it’s about time to start testing it 😀

    1. It is on the heavy side, but it’s cold enough in New England for it now so I’m sure it’s time for you too!

  11. This sounds like a great product for the fall!

    1. Yes, Sasha, definitely good for the colder weather since it’s a heavier weight moisturizer IMO

  12. StriVectin is such a solid brand! I’ve used a product or two from them in the past, but their price point is usually out of my budget. Although I may indulge if I see them at Costco. Great review!

    1. StriVectin products really work for my skin. I am constantly monitoring sales at Macy’s and on the StriVectin website as well as Costco to keep up my habit lol!

  13. I’ve been using this and some other products from StriVectin consistently and I do enjoy it. I hope to write about it soon. StriVectin is totally becoming a favorite brand for me.

    1. Same here, Honey. I use more of their products than any other brand 🙂 I’m glad they’re working for you too!

  14. To be honest i hardly use sunscreen lotion only when i go to the beach – which would be max one time a year if i’m lucky enough. I know i should actually apply sunscreen daily, especially that I have Summer now (living in South Africa, Cape Town) and it’s rather WARM today! Top put the cherry on top i have a sensitive skin – i burn very quickly in the sun. This sound like a very good product to use.
