Anti-aging Skincare for Your Body: DerMend Fragile Skin Moisturizing Formula

Several weeks ago, I received a body care product to try out from a new-to-me brand, DerMend Mature Skin Solutions. DerMend makes several anti-aging products to protect and help reverse the signs of aging skin on the body. I remember years ago visiting my Aunt Dorothea in a nursing home at the end of her life. She was a beautiful woman into her 80s. In fact, I’d say she was the poster child for Modern Maturity, she was so young-looking. She was trying to recuperate from kidney surgery, and I brought clothing and skincare products to the nursing home to help her feel better. I noticed how dry and paper thin the skin on her arms and legs looked. Prior to this illness, she was always impeccably dressed and groomed, and I had never noticed how fragile her skin looked. That was a wakeup call for me.

To try to prevent my skin from getting thin, crepey and dry, I’ve been moisturizing my body constantly. I have very dry skin so I use oils, shea butter, and the richest creams I could find.

But I was surprised when DerMend introduced themselves to me. I had never tried body care specifically created for older skin. As we age, collagen and elastin production decreases not just on the skin on our face but all of our skin. 🙁  What’s different about DerMend’s products from the moisturizing body care products I’ve been using is that DerMend’s products contains anti-aging ingredients that we usually see in facial skincare products. And the anti-aging ingredients stimulate collagen and elastin production to get to the root of the problem.

Happily, I received DerMend Fragile Skin Moisturizing Formula.

DerMend Fragile Skin Moisturizing Formula, tube, neversaydiebeauty.com

On the tube, it says DerMend Fragile Skin Moisturizing Formula “helps rejuvenate thin, fragile mature skin with hyaluronic acid, retinol, glycolic acid, niacinamide and multiple ceramides.” Wow, those are all my favorite ingredients, the ones I look for in the products I use on my face. I hit pay dirt!

Here’s the complete ingredient list:

  •  Retinol, a form of Vitamin A, helps rejuvenate and renew the appearance of skin.
  • Glycolic Acid: a form of alpha hydroxy acid exfoliates the skin.
  • Niacinamide: a form of Vitamin B3 with antioxidant properties that help improve the skin’s appearance.
  • Ceramides: help retain moisture, repair and replenish skin.
  • Other Ingredients:Water, Glycolic Acid, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Polyacrylamide, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Glycerin, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Palmitoyl Glycine, Cichorium intybus (chicory) root extract, Allantoin, Retinol, Caprooyl Phytosphingosine, Salicyloyl Phytosphingosine, Caprooyl Sphingosine, Ceramide AP, Ceramide EOP, Ceramide EOS, Ceramide NP, Ceramide NS, Niacinamide, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopheryl Acetate, PCA Dimethicone, Cetyl Alcohol, Cholesterol, Disodium EDTA, Ethyl- hexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Stearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-25, Ammonium Glycolate, Petrolatum, C13-14 Isopara n, Laureth-7, Polysorbate 20, Behenic Acid

DerMend recommends using Fragile Skin Moisturizing Formula twice a day, but because the anti-aging ingredients, particularly AHA, make skin more susceptible to sunburn, wearing sunscreen is absolutely necessary especially now that it’s summer. In response, I am using DerMend Fragile Skin Moisturizing Formula only at night. In the winter, I will most likely use it twice a day.

The cream itself is medium weight, it absorbs instantly, and it is not at all greasy. You can put it on after a shower and get dressed immediately.

Because my skin is so dry, I still like the feel of a heavy-duty cream with shea butter. So I use shea butter in the morning and DerMend at night. If my skin is super dry, I use DerMend as a “serum” and apply shea butter over it.

I am 2/3 of the way done with the 4.5 oz. tube, and I like DerMend Fragile Skin Moisturizing Formula very much. Because it contains so many great ingredients, it’s pricier than a tube or bottle of regular body lotion or shea butter. I was  delighted to find that DerMend is sold at CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, RiteAid, and Meijer as well as at Lovelyskin.com. The price is around $30. But you know me, I’m always on the lookout for a deal. You can get a coupon for $3 off on the DerMend website! Right now, CVS is offering 30% off with the code SAVE30, and Lovelyskin.com has 25% off (it’s on sale for $22.49), and you can use Ebates for an additional discount. Deals like that make this anti-aging body cream more affordable.

DerMend has an entire collection of body care products for mature skin:

  • Moisturizing Bruise Formula Cream
  • Moisturizing Bruise Formula Lotion
  • Moisturizing Anti-Itch Cream
  • Fragile Skin Moisturizing Formula.

I’m hoping that DerMend will keep my skin from feeling thin and papery in the future. I’ve started lifting hand weights again so I hope that DerMend, coupled with arm exercises, will help tighten my skin and make my arms look younger and more fit for summer.

Have you heard of DerMend? Is this something you would consider trying?

    1. DerMend doesn’t sell through their own website, but online at Amazon (I haven’t checked Amazon Canada yet) and Lovelyskin.com as well as in stores like CVS, Walgreens, RiteAid, Walmart, and Meijer’s. I’m guessing that Walmart is in Canada lol

  2. Kim A says:

I’ve been waiting for an anti-aging body lotion!! I hate that it’s so expensive but I’d definitely give at least one tube a try. Thanks for posting 🙂

    1. So far the sale on Lovelyskin.com at $22 and change is the best bet. I haven’t tried using the $3 off DerMend coupon on that site yet. I just emailed DerMend’s PR contact and asked about which of the stores carries this particular DerMend product. You’re right, I couldn’t find the Fragile Skin product on CVS, Walgreens or Walmart though they did have the Bruise Cream and some others. Amazon does have it but it’s a little more expensive than lovelyskin.com at $26 and change.

  3. I’d definitely consider trying this! I have a few spots of particularly dry skin and no matter what moisturizing treatment I try, nothing works. 🙁

Just recently as I was shopping the lotion aisle at Meijer I saw this brand. Actually picked up a tube and looked at it. So thank you so much for this review. Wish I had bought some for my husband’s poor arms when he was hospitalized…..unfortunately he passed away earlier this month.

    1. Oh, Sandy, I am so sorry to hear about your husband’s passing. How terrible! I know it will be a hard thing to recover from. 🙁

  5. This stuff seems great and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

  6. I am so skin conscious these days. I want to protect my skin and keep it from looking old and worn out. I’m gonna have to give this a try. Thank you for this post allison

    2. That’s great that you’re skin-conscious, Jana. Skin is so important. Protect it while you’re young, and it’ll stay that way for a looooong time

  7. Retinol and glycolic acid? Sign me up!

  8. Kathryne says:

Good to know that you’re loving the results. Our body needs thicker formulation because they tend to become more dry than our face.

  9. I bet my mom would love this lotion, but she is terrible about applying sunscreen during the day. And even when she does, she won’t go over SPF15. I wish she would listen to me =/

  13. Digna says:

Hello there! do you think using this product at age 29 is to soon?

    1. That’s a great question, and I probably should have addressed it in my review. I think that unless you have a specific skin issue that you’re trying to address (fading dark spots maybe?), you really don’t need this yet. Skin starts to become more fragile and thin after menopause. Production of collagen and elastin decreases as you age, but at 29, you’re still in good shape! Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize in the meantime!

  14. Digna says:

Honestly I have these lines on my face because I squint a lot and I was looking for something that would work for m combination skin. I came across this and I thought it would be good for my mother as well.

    1. Just to confirm, Digna, DerMend Fragile Skin Moisturizing Formula is for the skin on your body, especially arms and legs. At 29, you are not too young to use a good moisturizer on your face, neck and around your eyes and to make sure you wear a moisturizer with SPF during the day. There are so many good ones for combination skin. At the drugstore, check out the Olay Regenerist, Neutrogena and L’Oreal. Or when you have a chance, check out Paula’s Choice Skincare online – that is an excellent brand and it often has 20% off sales with free shipping.

  15. It sounds fab! I’m over here trying to bathe in all things anti-aging lol Especially since the kids are home and they speed up that aging process lmao

awesome!!! thank you so much! I will look into it today.

    1. You’re welcome, Digna! So many sales happening now for the holiday weekend. Good luck

    2. Digna, I just read a rave review of an affordable skincare line that might be right for your skin/your age range. Plus it looks fun! The brand is called Formula 10.0.06 and the moisturizer is wittily called Thirst No More Moisturizer, price $9!!! It’s sold at Ulta where it is supposedly often on sale for Buy One Get One 50% off and it’s also sold at Target and some CVS stores. Just thought I’d pass it on 🙂

  17. This sounds great. I need heavier creams after moving to the desert. My skin drinks it up!

  22. Hi Allison,

Thanks for sharing this review. I have a sensitive skin and sometimes I feel like itching, I don’t know why. I have not consulted a dermatologist yet, and just wanted to try Dermend Moisturizing Anti-Itch Cream, if the same thing happens, then I’ll better get a check-up.

  23. Patricia says:

Can you use this on your face? I have been trying to find out and no one answers.

    1. Dermend’s products are not positioned as facial skincare products, Patricia, though it may not do you any harm. Which benefit of Dermend were you most interested in for your face? It you have fragile or sensitive skin on your face, please entire my Laurme Sensitive Skin collection giveaway that’s going to be ending shortly. I posted it about 2 weeks ago, so take a look and enter. Laurme Sensitive Skin collection was developed for the sister of the woman who owns the company who was going through cancer treatments that had her skin fragile and sensitive.
