April 2015 Empties

Before we get too deep into May, I’ll do a quick share of my April empties, the products I used up last month.

Again, mostly skincare. One of these days, I’ll finish up some makeup. I know I will!

  • Gillete Satin Care with Olay Shave Gel: I buy my shave gel in bulk at Costco. Although I tend to choose by scent or for dry/sensitive skin. I think this variety was the only choice. But it’s a thick, pleasant-smelling – fruity, I think – gel. I like it. I’m off to Costco to buy whatever they have in stock for women’s Gillette shave cream, lol.
  • Sebastian Professional Penetraitt Strengthening and Repair Hair Conditioner: In spite of all the hair conditioning products that I try as a beauty blogger, Sebastian Penetraitt continues to be my favorite hair conditioner. It makes my hair silky soft without weighing it down. And it’s color-safe. I like that I can usually find it at CVS, and occasionally I’ll find it on sale at Marshall’s but there are some great deals for it online. I bought some more last week.
  • Lindi Skin Eye Hydrator: I just reviewed this fabulous thick, soothing gel a couple of days ago. I finished up the first jar, and I just bought another. This is a must-have for me for my eyelids and the skin around the inner portion of my eyes. With the code BLOG25, you can get 25% off and free shipping on any Lindi Skin products.
  • DermaMD Intense Soy Body Moisturizer: I finished up this fabulous hydrating lightweight gel cream (reviewed here). The company liked my review a lot and said they’d send me another jar, but I haven’t received it yet. Hope I will because I love this body cream.
  • Nature Island Botanicals Citrus Sunrise Vitamin C Whipped Soap Sugar Scrub Souffle, orange, pink grapefruit & bergamot (brand review here): NIB Vitamin C body scrub smells divine, so citrusy, it’s heaven. It is a thick scrub that melts into my skin as it provides gentle exfoliation with natural and organic ingredients. I buy Nature Island Botanicals mostly when Daphne, the woman who owns and makes Nature Island Botanical skincare products, comes to the Waterfront Craft Festival in Gloucester during the summer. I have two more in different scents yet to try! Daphne also makes fabulous hand-crafted soaps, body butter including my favorite Caribbean Escape Coconut Body Butter, body oils, lotion, and facial skincare products. She sells on etsy here and can be reached by phone:
  • Authentic Skin Remedies Polish Sugar Exfoliating Scrub (brand review here): Authentic Skin Remedies, a line of natural and organic multi-tasking skincare products, was founded by Amy Rueda after she developed cancer from environmental toxins. The body polish is a gentle exfoliator crafted with a blend of organic brown sugar crystals and essential Avocado Oil which helps improve circulation and acts a total body cleanser. I liked it a lot, but I have about 4 other exfoliators to finish up. I am especially in love with her coconut body cream that is a perfect summer body moisturizer, very hydrating but lightweight, and it can be used as an overnight face mask, too!

So that’s it for me for last month! What have you finished up lately?

  1. Fabulous empties!! I don’t think I’ll have many in May, but my March and April piles were pretty big.

    1. Yes, the number differs so from month to month with some months with none at all.

  2. I love empties posts; welcome to the club! That eye hydrator sounds like a must-have for the sleepless. Satin Care is my shaving gel of choice. The rest don’t come up to scratch, especially if you look at the price paid.

    1. I hear ya. For some reason, I saved my empties from last July through March and forgot to do the posts and one of these days I’m going to do a giant 6 month empties post. But many times, I don’t have anything either. And it’s almost always skincare.

  5. I absolutely love empties posts! You did an excellent job using up full size products in April!

    1. Doesn’t it give you a good feeling to actually use something up??!! Daphen’s Nature Island Botanicals Citrus Sunrise Whipped Sugar Scrub Souffle smells incredible. So does her Caribbean Escape Coconut Body Butter. She lived on the island of Domenica, and she aims to capture the scents of the island. Love ’em!

  8. That’s great that you enjoyed the Derma products. I think I have to take a look and see if there is anything I’ll like. Good job with empties.

    1. Heather, I went for months without doing an empties post, but I did save the empty containers. Now I’ve got about 6 months of empties from last August through February and I’m thinking of doing one big post so I can finally recycle them all!

  11. Now don’t forget to recycle them now tht they’re empty 🙂

    1. Already recycled. Everything gets recycled in my household.

  12. The Lindi Hydrator looks great! I’m always looking for eye products especially ones that come with a 25% off code and leave my eyes feeling refreshed!

    1. It’s such an unusual gel, Brigitte, not like anything I’ve tried before. But for my super dry skin on my lids and eye sockets (sound awful, doesn’t it?), the Eye Hydrator is perfect 🙂 And I was glad to get that 25% off code!

  13. When you find something you love, it’s easier to stay on track and use that one product until it’s used up! But, then, I want to buy another of the same and then I’ll never get to my stash of lovelies!

  14. I need to round up my empties. I think I did a good job for April too.

    1. I’m glad you know them, too, Norah. I also love the mission behind the brand

  16. If I ever use up any makeup other than mascara and liquid liner, I think I’d throw a party. I can easily see why you finished the Lindi Eye Hydrator since I love it too.
MarciaF recently posted…Tammy Fender Antioxidant Crème Neroli & OrangeMy Profile

    1. That’s so interesting, Marcia. I finish a mascara or liner on rare occasion. Usually the mascara gets thick and clumpy before I get to use it up. For me, it’s usually skincare and haircare products that I finish. But regardless, it’s such a feeling of accomplishment!

  17. It’s so satisfying to use things up, isn’t it? And I love that it makes room for new goodies. 😉
