Artis Brush Cleansing Foam Plus

I Bought This - Affiliate links

Last time Artis Brushes had a sale, I bought Artis Brush Cleansing Foam Plus (there’s another 50% off sale now). It comes in two sizes: 6.4 fl. oz. and 3.4 fl. oz. at $30 and $20 regular prices, respectively. Because I hadn’t tried this “Plus” version of the product before, I bought the smaller size for $10.

Here’s Artis’ description of the new Cleansing Foam Plus:

“Our  NEW brush cleanser dispenses as a foam to help its ingredients work around each fibre of the brush. The actions of millions of bubbles in this proprietary formula help remove product residue without “drowning” the fibres, resulting in a thoroughly clean and fresh CosmeFibre® bundle.”

When you press down on the pump, foam comes out. On the larger brushes like the Oval 7 or 6, it’s easy to pump the foam directly onto the brush head.

It’s kind of cool to watch the foam appear to be absorbed into the CosmeFibres. With the smaller brushes like the Oval 4 or the shadow brushes, you’re supposed to pump a little foam onto a wet paper towel or a microfiber cloth like Artis Brush Cleaning Pad, Essential.

Next, you wipe the Artis brush head onto a dry paper towel or a microfiber cloth. Here’s what my paper towel looked like after cleaning my brushes:

Trying to clean my Oval 6 brushes, I needed to pump the Artis Brush Cleansing Foam Plus onto the brush head and wipe it off at least 5 times. Because I don’t clean my brush after every usage occasion since I use the same foundation (CoverFX Total Cover Cream Foundation), there was quite a bit of foundation built up on the brush fibers. Cleaning cream blush off of the Oval 4 was much easier. It took 1-2 pumps of foam, and just 2 or 3 brushes on the paper towel. The tiny shadow brush was a cinch to clean.

After I finished cleaning the brushes, I remembered that years ago, I bought an Artis Brush Cleaning Pad. So, I went to look for it. It turns out I bought what they called a Cleaning Pad Replacement, a rectangular shaped piece of black elasticized microfiber cloth stretched over a piece of rectangular cardboard. I’m not sure why I bought the Replacement, but I did.

Artis has changed their Cleaning Pad by adding “Essential” to the name. Honestly, I’m not sure if it’s the same as the old one, but it sounds like it is. Now they sell Artis Replacement Cleaning Cloths for $25 for 5 cloths. Artis says that each microfiber cloth can be laundered 15 times before the antimicrobial treatment is finished.

Next, I went back and tried the Cleaning Replacement Cloth. Because it is black microfiber, you can’t see the foundation coming off of it, though it is easier to use the cloth. However, using the paper towel, I can see the debris coming off the brush, and I know for sure when it is clean. Ah, what to do?!

The key benefit to using Artis Brush Cleansing Foam Plus rather than using my brush makeup removing soap is that the brush CosmeFibres dry literally in minutes rather than hours. Interesting, and useful especially if you need to use the brush again right away.

Artis Cleansing Foam Plus Ingredients: Water/eau, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate,Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Phenoxyethanol, Citris Paradis Peel Oil, Citric Acid

I know that buying brush soap is much less expensive than buying the Cleansing Foam, but regardless, it’s fun to try it.

If you have Artis makeup brushes, how do you clean them?
