Weekly Roundups

Back from Philly and Weekly Roundups

Jeff and I had a whirlwind long weekend in Philadelphia. The weather was warm and perfect for walking. As usual, Jeff and I did lots of stuff.

We saw the first post office in the U.S. that was started by Benjamin Franklin, and several beautiful federal-style attached buildings where Franklin had an office and a print shop.

Independence Hall in Philadelphia

We tried to visit Independence Hall (we had both been there years ago) but you had to go on a tour, and we didn’t have time. Instead, we visited the building where the nation’s first Supreme Court (that consisted of 6 justices, not 9 like we have now) met.

the Liberty Bell seen through the window

We saw the Liberty Bell through the window, since we both had seen it before. Then we took a long walk to the Italian Market. What we didn’t know if that the Italian Market is a neighborhood or an area with a number of different shops and business. We had been looking for a big building with stalls. At any rate, I bought some spicy linguine and Marcona almonds to bring home, and we stopped to eat some of the best sfolgiatelle (a crispy and creamy shell-shaped pastry originally from Naples Italy) I have ever tasted!

The Barnes Foundation building with reflecting pool in Philadelphia

Over the next couple of days, we went to the idiosyncratic art collection at The Barnes Foundation, to the Jewish Museum, and to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

We got together with new and old friends for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. We had a wonderful time! The only snag was that our return flight home to Boston was substantially delayed (it left at 12:45am), and we didn’t get home till 3am. I’m still exhausted!

So instead of a blogpost, here are this weekend’s posts from the Beauty Spotlight Team and Fashion Flash.
