Last year, my friend and sister blogger, LolaSeiscento of Lola’s Secret Beauty Blog, turned me on to Barney’s periodic beauty events. I don’t know whether to thank her or not, lol, because she definitely has gotten me hooked. The beauty event happens a few times a year. You purchase a certain dollar amount of beauty or fragrance products, and you get a big makeup bag chock full of deluxe samples and occasionally a full size product thrown in for good measure. I’ve written about my fall Barney’s beauty bag here. I guess I didn’t write about the one I got this past spring.
In the past, I’m pretty sure the threshold was $200, but the beauty event that’s going on right now has a lower threshold, $125.
I am trying to decide whether to take the plunge. You more than get your money back in the goodies you get in the bag. My signature autumn/winter scent, the big oriental fragrance Musc Ravageur by Frederic Malle (reviewed here), that I purchased a year ago seems to have turned, grrrr!, and I’m only half way through the bottle. I may just spring for a new bottle and that will qualify me for the bag. I have to go in to Boston today, so I’ll make a pit stop at Barney’s. BTW, there’s free shipping and Ebates always has cash back on Barney’s purchases so even if I go to the store, I’ll probably buy online. (If you don’t have an Ebates account, you should! Barney’s has so many prestige brands of makeup, skincare and fragrance: NARS, Tatcha skincare, Moulton Brown, Bellatorra, Chantecaille, Byredo, and many more. I have no relationship to Barney’s, but I’ve been really impressed with the stuff in the beauty bag and I wanted to make sure you knew about it.

ADDENDUM: I just came from Barney’s and I saw the summer beauty bag in person. WAIT TILL the SEPTEMBER Beauty Event!!! Because the minimum purchase is lower, there are only 10 samples. Definitely worth waiting till the Fall Event even tho it’s $200 to qualify! Although there were some good samples in the summer bag, there are almost 50% fewer items in the bag and from what I could see, there were no full size products.
I was so happy when I saw they ship internationally and then I saw that beauty gift with purchase is for US order only. 🙁
