Since I started the blog a year ago, I sure have bought a lot of beauty products! But I still like to use up what I buy, at least most of the time.
I recently finished up several products, and I thought I’d share with you which I’ll repurchase and which I won’t.
This past spring, the teens in the shop-along market research study I conducted, turned me on to two products: Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover (I reviewed this a couple of months ago) and Maybelline Clean Express Makeup Remover Towelettes. Both are keepers. In fact, Ulta had a “buy one, get one half off” recently on Rimmel products, so I already have two at the ready.
I also liked the Maybelline Clean Express Makeup Remover Towelettes. I found that they do a good job removing even waterproof mascara and eyeliner, but the towelettes are still gentle on my sensitive, dry eyes. I like these so much better than the Neutrogena towelettes and the LA Fresh towelettes that I tried; they’re much more effective. I haven’t repurchased the Maybelline towelettes yet, but I will next time they’re on sale. I use towelettes mostly when I travel, so I can wait a bit.
I had been using Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum for years, and I liked it a lot. It’s lightweight, easily absorbed, fragrance-free, and I felt that it helped keep wrinkles at bay for quite a while and helped with firmness, too. Procter & Gamble has lots of money to put into anti-aging skincare research, so I believed it was a good product. And I saw that it worked for me. But as a blogger, I received a couple of other serums, and I’d like to finish them up before I go back to the Regenerist. But if you’re looking for an affordable, effective serum, I do recommend the Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum.
As you know, I really like essence gel-look topcoat. I have found that it does a great job helping my mani last about a week, sometimes even a little longer. This little bottle lasted me at least 4 months. At the end of that time period, the formula thickened. But how can I complain about a topcoat that worked so well, cost only $3.49, and didn’t thicken until I had it for 4 months? So I bought another bottle. 🙂
The last product is essence lip balm called Kiss Care. I think Kiss Care was meant to compete with Maybelline Baby Lips. My client gave me the first one that I tried (the pink one), and I bought the red one. I use Kiss Care instead of Chapstick. It really keeps my lips soft and from getting chapped. I first tried the product in mid-April, so it will be interesting to find out whether it’ll work through the winter. Kiss Care Lip Balm doesn’t deposit any color on my lips, so it really doesn’t matter whether it’s the pink one or the red one. I think they have two other colors too, but the color isn’t important. The scent is a little different between the pink that smells like cotton candy and red that smells kinda fruity, but that’s it. I’m not using the lip balm for color or for the scent. Now that the weather’s getting colder, I apply it to my lips before lipstick to keep them hydrated. I also use it during the day when I don’t wear lipstick and put it on before bed. I used up the pink one, the red is almost finished, and I bought another one that’s waiting in the wings. I think the price was $1.99. Well worth it for soft lips.
