Even though the holidays are over, there’s still a lot going on.
For one thing, Jeff finally talked me into getting a new big flat screen TV for the great room. I’m probably the last American to get a big screen TV. Costco had a good price on a 55″ Samsung with a center support that allows it to sit on my existing TV stand. My old super heavy Sony analog TV with a picture tube from 1996 certainly didn’t owe me anything, but it cost me $200 to get rid of it. It weighed a ton. Setting up the new set wasn’t quite as easy as I thought it would be, but we did it. The football games and even my cooking shows look pretty darn great.
Tonight we went to see a fascinating documentary “Free Solo” about a young man who climbed El Capitan with no ropes. I had heard him interviewed on NPR several months ago, so I was eager to see the movie. Then we went to a relatively new Mexican restaurant for tacos. The barbacoa was deeeeelish.

I have to share a story with you, My husband and I also just bought a flat screen TV, our old one was also a “Fat ” screen and a Sony it was going on 16 years old and the picture was turning green with lines in it! I would tell people we still had a TV that was that old and they would stare at us like we were from another planet!I love our new one!Happy New Year!
Thanks for sharing your story, Debbie! Although I’ve got you beat (my Sony Trinitron was 22 years old lol), it was still in perfect condition. I have 3 other TVs: a Toshiba that is around 30 years old lol, a 17 yr old little Toshiba in my office that has a built-in VHS player and a small flat screen in my bedroom. I didn’t see the need for a new one in the great room, but Jeff has been nagging me for years. I finally caved, but I should’ve gotten the new carpeting for the bedroom that I really need! I’m glad you’re enjoying your new one. I think the new Samsung will grow on me especially during the Super Bowl and baseball season!
