Belif: Korean Skincare Kits for Dry Skin

My skin has definitely gotten drier over the past 2 months. The cold, dry weather, and the heat from the furnace, the dryness from the fireplace. Dry. Dry. Dry.

Although I am often, if not always, testing out new skincare products, sometimes I like to choose some skincare products for myself. During the Sephora VIB events, I discovered a Korean skincare brand that was new to me, Belif. I was about to purchase a jar of hydrating gel cream from Belif, when the Sephora SA pointed out to me that if I bought the holiday bonus box, I’d get the full size moisturizer that I wanted plus two deluxe sample size skincare products. Why not?

So I bought Belif Don’t Be Flaky skincare kit that’s recommended to combat dryness, pores or loss of firming or elasticity. It came with:

  • The True Cream – Moisturizing Bomb: full size
  • Hungarian Water Essence: deluxe sample
  • Moisturizing and Firming Eye Cream: deluxe sample.

I love the super-hydrating gel cream that is The True Cream – Moisturizing Bomb. It feels so hydrating on my dry skin. It’s formulated with comfrey leaf, and Sephora.com says that “it offers 26-hours of long-lasting hydration and comfort to the skin”. Because I’m testing out another moisturizer now, I don’t get to use it all the time but I confess, I sneak it in a couple of times a week.

I had been on the hunt for a hydrating essence after I finished up the very pricey SK-II Essence several months ago. If you’re new to the world of essences, an essence is the first step used after cleansing and toner. It is a water-weight product, and it quickly sinks in. Afterwards, I apply a serum or oil before my moisturizer. I need all the hydration I can get, so I was excited to get to try this essence from Belif. And it’s a keeper. It has an intriguing history: formulated with Hungarian water, a blend of herbs that was known as the skin care secret of the beautiful “Sissy”, Queen Elizabeth of the Austro-Hungarian empire. I stayed at a hotel named for her in Vienna years ago, and her portrait was in the dining room. I digress. Composed of 10 different herbs, including rosemary and gotu kola, Hungarian water essence helps keep skin hydrated and youthful looking. I finished up the deluxe sample, and I decided I needed a full size bottle of this juice!

The Moisturizing and Firming Eye Cream is really a gel cream. Like the other products, it is made with a lot of natural ingredients: natural oils: cupuacu seed butter, macadamia nut oil and meadowfoam seed oil and paired with the napiers herb formula – whatever that is. I like the Moisturizing and Firming Eye Cream a lot. It is both moisturizing and firming. I haven’t finished the deluxe sample yet.

Because I fell in love with the Hungarian Water Essence, I decided to buy the full size. During the Sephora December VIB coupon event, I went back to Sephora and purchased the Belif Let It Glow kit because it had the full size essence and two different deluxe samples for the price of the Hungarian Water Essence alone. I’m definitely into these kits. They’re a great way to try out a new product line!

The Let It Glow kit was created to add hydration in order to combat dryness, dullness and uneven texture as well as fine lines and wrinkles. It includes:

  • Hungarian Water Essence: full size
  • Witch Hazel Herbal Extract Toner: deluxe sample
  • Peat Miracle Revital Eye Cream: deluxe sample

I’m really happy to have the full size Hungarian Water Essence. One pump covers my entire face. I’m hoping it’ll last me quite a while.

The Witch Hazel Herbal Extract Toner is unlike any other toner I’ve used. It’s a cloudy liquid-gel that comes in a squeeze bottle. Instead of applying it on a cotton pad like I do most liquid spray toners, I just squeeze a small amount onto my hands and apply it directly to my face. So it seems almost like a serum rather than a toner. It isn’t drying, it feels quite nice. But truth be told, I think I prefer a traditional toner that I apply with a cotton pad that helps remove any makeup that my double cleanse leaves behind on occasion.

I love the Peat Miracle Revital Eye Cream. It’s a true cream rather than a gel cream like the other Belif Eye Cream I’m using. The Peat Miracle Revital Eye Cream contains antioxidant-rich peat extract. The cream itself feels richer, and because my skin is feeling so dry, I am preferring this eye cream even though I also like the first one. I’m on the hunt for an eye cream that is firming to the loose skin above my crease instead of the super expensive PCA Skin Revitalizing Eye Gel that I’ve been using. So I’m hoping that one of these two eye creams might be a replacement. I’ll let you know.

So if you are interested in trying out some new Korean skincare, these skincare kits from Belif that are only at Sephora for the holidays are a good way to go. The Don’t Be Flaky kit is priced at $38, and the Let It Glow kit is $42. Belief products are formulated without Parabens, Sulfates or Phthalates. Their products are dermatologist tested, free of mineral oil, synthetic preservatives, synthetic dyes, synthetic fragrances, or ingredients from animals.

Have you tried Belif Skincare? Do you have a favorite Korean skincare brand or product?

Wow Allison these products sound really nice…….A must try! The toner sounds really good. I use “witch hazel” as my toner every morning and night. I hope your enjoying the Christmas Season. Sending a “warm hug” from California. ??❤️

    1. I have used witch hazel toners from time to time too, DiEtta. It reminds me of my dad who used to use it after shaving. This is an interesting toner, very mild, and does a good job balancing my skin. Belief is definitely a brand worth knowing about. Thanks for the warm hug. It was really cold at the end of last week, and we got snow on Saturday morning, but it warmed up to 55 on Sunday which was great before plunging into the 20s and teens again. Hopefully today will hit 40. I need the dirt in my urns at the front door to thaw out so I can put some Ilex sticks with red berries into the soil with my little boxwoods so they’ll look a little more colorful and festive! Hugs to you too! Hope you’re preparations for the holidays are almost done!

  2. these sound interesting. I am intrigued by the gel cream since I need something, but still have kind of oily skin around my eyes.

    1. The witch hazel toner is really nice, just different from any other toners including witch hazel toners that I’ve tried. It’s not runny and watery. It’s quite lovely!

  11. I’ve never tried Belif because most Korean brands are so fragranced. This sounds pretty great and the price of these sets is terrific. I love that you get the chance to try out what they have for no extra money.

    1. Yes, that was a true benefit to getting the kit. And they got an additional sale from it! Marcia, I should have mentioned that there is no discernible fragrance. I just went back and stuck my nose in the three jars that I can open, and if I sniff really really hard there’s the tiniest sweet scent but to be honest, you can’t smell it. 🙂

  12. witch hazel is good for troubled skin. I’ve heard/read nice things about this brand
