Blendercleanser Solid for the Beautyblender: It’s Worth It

I bought a Beautyblender months ago, and I love it. I don’t use it everyday. I switch off with kabuki brushes and foundation brushes.

I’m always looking to save money. I would rather spend on something I really want and look for ways to do other things more inexpensively. I’ve been cleaning my Beautyblender with Burt’s Bees Baby Shampoo after every use. And once a week, I put it in the microwave to destroy bacteria buildup.

Baby shampoo does a decent job of getting rid of most of the foundation, but it requires a lot of soaking and scrubbing, and it never seems completely clean.

I noticed that Dermstore was selling a Beautyblender and Blendercleanser Solid mini combo for the price of the Beautyblender alone. Plus there was a 20% off sale and free shipping. I needed a new Beautyblender, and now I’d get to try the Blendercleanser too. $16, not bad.

The Blendercleanser Solid cleans the Beautyblender so much more easily than scrubbing away with the baby shampoo.

I’m sold, the Blendercleanser Solid does a better job, will extend the life of my new Beautyblender, and it’s worth it  🙂

  1. It really seems as though this is a more effective beautyblender cleaner than baby shampoo! Thanks for the great review!

    1. Yes. I will actually buy the Blendercleanser when I use up the mini 😉

  2. The Beauty Blender soap is great. I love the beauty blender sponge too. It’s better than any of the other knock offs that I’ve tried.

    1. Absolutely agree! I will spend the $ next time to buy more Blendercleanser, definitely worth it

  3. I need to try the solid Blender Cleanser. I have the liquid version, and also use Johnson’s Baby Shampoo once in a while.

    1. I may try the liquid version sometime but I like rubbing the soap on it and watching the foundation disappear!

  4. I usually use a makeup brush cleaner and it takes so long to clean! I’ll have to try this if it’s that much easier. And putting your Beauty Blender in the microwave? I’ve never heard of that but it seems like a great way to keep it clean!

    1. For me, Molly, the Blendercleanser really does get the foundation stains and product out faster and better than baby shampoo. And yes, putting the Beautyblender in the microwave once a week when it’s clean helps kill bacteria so it’s safer to use longer than if you don’t MW it.

  5. I always thought this seemed like it would be a useful tool, even for cleaning regular brushes. I usually use Dr. Bronner’s to clean mine!
Tess Galen recently posted…September Favorites 2015My Profile

    1. I haven’t tried Dr. Bronner’s (and I have several versions) because I find Dr. Bronner’s drying to my skin and I thought it might dry out my Beautyblender. Glad to know that it works well for you!

  6. I’m gonna have to look up a Youtube video on this because I have a solid cleanser that I’ve never used and I just have no idea how to use it, ahha. Glad to hear it works though!

    1. Just rub it on the Beautyblender or vice versa and it gets the stains out. The Blendercleanser Solid makes a lather when wet just like regular soap but it does a very good job at removing even heavy foundation or BB cream. Much better than baby shampoo

  7. I want to try the solid cleaner! I have only used the liquid one!
Eugenia recently posted…Becca Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Champagne Pop ReviewMy Profile

    1. I probably should try the liquid one next time 😉 But I do like the solid because it’s easy to rub it on the Beautyblender and get out a stain.

  8. Seems like a great cleanser.

    1. Much better than baby shampoo!

  9. This is so great! Beats using my brush cleanser to get most of the product out.

    1. I hadn’t tried brush cleaner on my BeautyBlender. I probably should have, lol. But the Blendercleanser is certainly more effective than baby shampoo or complexion soap

  10. I loveeee the solid cleanser!! I just finished up my second full size container, and am working on my third as we speak. It makes my brushes so clean and soft, and it really cleans the beauty blender nicely!

    1. I haven’t used it yet on my brushes but I intend to. I’m amazed at how much faster it is to clean my Beautyblender with it!

  11. I used the cleanser once and it was amazing. My problem is that I couldn’t tolerate the fragrance of it and it never seemed to go away. I wish they could do one without that lavender.

    1. Gee, I will have to sniff the solid version. I don’t recall any scent. If there isn’t any scent, I’ll let you know. I definitely didn’t notice any lavender.

  12. For BB I use their liquid soap which actually doubles up as a great brush cleanser. I have to admit, it is really good at cleaning creams and pigments, (And I use a lot of those @ work).
NORAH recently posted…My Soccer Mom Happy Moments With KleenexMy Profile

    1. Glad to know that, Norah. Maybe I’ll try the liquid version after I use up the solid. It really works much better than baby shampoo on foundation especially those with silicone and glycerin

  13. I use the Dr. Woods Black Soap Facial cleanser with Shea Butter and it works pretty well. However, I’ve always been interested in this solid, and you got the duo for a great price!

    1. I really wanted to try the Blendercleanser for some time, but I didn’t want to pay an extra $20 for the privilege so this worked out great for me. I sometimes used an artisanal complexion bar to clean it but it took longer and didn’t do such a great job breaking down the silicone and glycerin in the BB/CC creams that I use.

  14. This looks like a great cleanser. I just wash mine in good old Dawn dish washing liquid and cook them in the microwave. 😀

    1. I will try the Dawn LDL next time I buy that brand. I know that the Palmolive I have now isn’t up to the task!

  15. I am definitely going to hop over to Sephora and get myself some. I always wince while washing mine because I’m afraid I’m going to tear that tear. 🙁
Shipra recently posted…ColourPop LIMITED EDITION Ultra Matte Lips + Avenue Liquid Lipstick Swatches and ReviewMy Profile

    1. What I like about the Blendercleanser is that it doesn’t take as long to clean it as the baby shampoo and/or complexion soap I tried so I think there’s ultimately less wear and tear on the tear 😉

  16. I used to use this before. When I ran out, I used a regular bar soap (L’Occitane) & was surprised to get the same cleaning result

    1. That’s good to know. From time to time, I used an artisanal complexion bar and it did an OK job but not as good as the Blendercleanser perhaps because the complexion bar wasn’t strong enough to cut through the silicone & glycerin in the foundation I was trying to remove?

  17. I’ve only used knockoff blenders, and I usually clean them with Dr. Bronners. I got a sample of the liquid Blender Cleanser, and I was surprised at how easily it worked and how clean it got my sponge! There really is a difference.

    1. Someone else told me about Dr. Bronner’s too. I haven’t tried it but I have several different scents at home. I am glad to know that the liquid Blendercleanser works well too. Maybe I’ll go for that one next time 🙂

  18. It’s definitely worth the hype. I use it all the time to clean my BB. Great post hun x

    1. Glad you have good results using the Blendercleanser solid too. It definitely saves me time and my BB looks much better

  19. Those blender cleansers are magical! I haven’t tried the solid one yet, but the liquid one takes alllll of the gunk out in one squeeze. Love that stuff!

    1. Glad to know that the liquid version works well too. I definitely will pick up one or the other during the Sephora sale in November.

  20. I’ve wondered if the solid cleanser really did a better job (or at least made things easier.) I use baby shampoo or Dr. Bronner’s but it’s so time consuming. I might have to pick up a duo when I need a new sponge.
Bailey recently posted…Yves Rocher Botanical Colour Eye PencilsMy Profile

    1. I haven’t tried Dr. Bronner’s yet (though I have 4 different versions at home!), but the baby shampoo is so gentle that it takes forever to get the BB/CC cream that’s loaded with silicone and glycerin to come out of the Beautyblender. The Blendercleanser takes so much less time to break down the foundation/BB/CC that it seems worth it to me. But I will try Dr. B on my old Beautyblender and see how it goes!

  21. I have been using a beauty blender for years but never bought the cleanser. I use Dr. Bronner’s soap to clean mine and all my makeup brushes. It’s inexpensive, has multiple household uses and gets the job done, squeaky clean.
Mercedes recently posted…Thicker, Fuller Hair |Women’s ROGAINE® FoamMy Profile

    1. I have several versions of Dr. Bronner’s but I never thought of using it on my Beautyblender and brushes. I find Dr. B to be a bit harsh on my skin so I don’t use it very often any more, but hopefully it won’t be too harsh on my beauty tools. I’ll give it a try on my old BB first! You’re the third person to recommend it so you ladies must be on to something!

  22. I recently bought the solid form of this too. I love it.
