Butter London Nail Polishes

Several weeks ago, I entered a giveaway on Cosmetics Aficionado‘s beauty blog to win a limited edition, sold out, MAC RiRi Diamonds Cream Colour Base (a face shimmer cream, highlighter product). To my absolute shock, I won! Leticia of CA was incredibly generous, and she tucked a couple of extras in with my prize. One of the extras was a set of three Butter London polishes called Bright Lights that came in a cute little box of their own with the mantra, Long Live Nails.

The  shades were certainly meant for a redhead like me: Jaffa – a beautiful orange, Cheeky Chops – a butter yellow, and Dosh, a slightly shimmery shade of moss green.

I always wanted to try Butter London polishes because they are 3-free: no toluene, no formaldehyde, and no DBP, and because the shades are just gorgeous! But the $15 price tag has stopped me. And now they are mine!!

So, what were they like? The brush was a regular size, small brush. I was surprised that the formula was quite thin. It required three coats to get good coverage, especially with the yellow. But because the formula was thin, it dried almost immediately. I wanted to use all three shades so I did the orange on most of my nails with the yellow on the ring finger of one hand and the green on the ring finger of the other. The yellow was a little streaky even after three coats, so I dotted it with orange and green — very cute.

I couldn’t find my Revlon Brilliant Shine Topcoat so I used an old bottle of Revlon topcoat, and maybe that’s why I had a tiny bit of chipping on two of my fingers on my right hand and three days later, another chip on the thumb of my left hand. And I finished with a coat of essence gel-look topcoat and Orly Sec n Dry, probably overkill.

The colors are gorgeous. Really bright, just as the name says!.

Butter London is sold at Ulta, Sephora, and on lots of websites including beauty.com, beautybar.com etc. The size is 0.4 fl. oz./11 ml. And in addition to the other three ingredients mentioned earlier, the polish also does not contain:

– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Synthetic Fragrances
– Petrochemicals
– Phthalates
– GMOs
– Triclosan

Thank you again, Leticia, for brightening my day!
