I’ve talked about RITUALS, the worldwide luxury lifestyle brand, a number of times because I am a sincere fan. RITUALS makes enticing bath, body and home products of super quality.

I first discovered RITUALS Shower Foam in the Sakura cherry blossom scent in a goody bag gift with purchase that I got after a buying my signature fragrance at Barney’s several years ago. Since then, I have purchased RITUALS bath and body products over and over again. Ritual of Sakura Hand Balm is my very favorite hand cream (reviewed here) because it truly hydrates my very dry hands without being greasy. It’s like putting on hydrating gloves! I love it so much, I stockpile it. My third bottle from Macy’s is waiting in the wings. PS It’s on sale at Macy’s now. I also love the Sakura Bed and Body Mist (reviewed here) because the cherry blossom scent is so light and lovely, it’s like spring in a bottle.

In an earlier post, I told you how surprised I was when Jeff and I went to Amsterdam where I discovered that RITUALS is a Dutch brand. There were RITUALS shops throughout the city and at the airport and train station as well as RITUALS shops-within-a shop at the main department store as well as in other retailers. You can be sure that I went home with lots of RITUALS products!

If you are a fragrance lover like I am, you will find RITUALS products irresistible. RITUALS often adds new scent collections to their lineup, and I have been fortunate to have opportunities to sample some new-to-me scents and products. Last year, I received a Ritual of Ayurveda Small Gift Set to try out for review (read about it here),

and the spicy, deep scent was perfect for me.

I fell in love with the Ayurveda Shower Oil, and I purchased a full size bottle since. For the past year, it’s been part of my fall/winter shower ritual.

Ritual of Dao Small Gift Set

Speaking of RITUALS Gift Sets, this year I received the Ritual of Dao Small Gift Set. It arrived in the mail, and it was left on my front steps while I was away in Philadelphia. Sadly, it rained a lot while I was away, and when I got home on Monday afternoon, the box was soaked all the way through. I took some photos anyway to give you an idea of what the gift box looks like, but it’s even more lovely when it’s not soaking wet 😉

The Ritual of Dao Small Gift Set contains travel size, TSA-compliant versions of four bath and body products, ranging from 1.6-2.5 fl. oz.:

  • Foaming Shower Gel
  • Calming Shower Oil
  • Be Kind to Your Skin Body Cream
  • Nourishing Shampoo.

Before going into each of the four products, let me tell you about the concept behind Ritual of Dao. It is described as “The Path to Inner Peace”. In Chinese philosophy, Dao refers to achieving balance between yin and yang. Right now, I can really use that. The Ritual of Dao fragrance is described as “calming”. I’m scheduled for cataract surgery next week and I’ve been fighting asthmatic bronchitis for several weeks, so I am stressed out. Calming scents and body products are just what I need. The products in the Ritual of Dao collection are formulated with delicate white lotus, the symbol of purity, peace and spiritual growth, and skin nourishing Yi Yi Ren, a traditional ingredient in Chinese medicine. Perfect. It makes me want to take deep breaths. 🙂

Another thing I noticed about the Ritual of Dao scent is that it is a gender-neutral scent. While you might not want to share these delightfully luxurious bath and body products with a male spouse or significant other, you certainly could. The calming Ritual of Dao scent is a little powdery but it has a slight edge to it that would make it perfect for anyone, especially the Shower Oil, Nourishing Shampoo and Body Cream.

Foaming Shower Gel

Since we’re still talking about scent, the Ritual of Dao Foaming Shower Gel, like the other products in the set, is scented with delicate white lotus. But in this product in particular, the scent is very gentle and so very relaxing. I would also say that the scent of the Foaming Shower Gel is more powdery than the other three products and more feminine.

I have described the RITUALS Foaming Shower Gel in the past (reviewed here). RITUALS was the first foaming shower gel I ever used, and I was blown away by it. It comes out as a gel, and when water hits it, it foams up. Very cool. And very gentle.

I primarily use RITUALS Shower Gel as a shaving foam for my legs, and it works well. It leaves my skin feeling lightly hydrated. It’s a staple among my bath and body products.

Calming Shower Oil

Rituals special shower oil was also new to me when I tried the yummy Ayurveda scent Shower Oil last year. It’s an oil out of the bottle, but when combined with water from the shower, it turns into a rich, hydrating lotion. If you don’t have time to apply body cream after getting out of the shower, you can actually get away with skipping it if you use the Calming Shower Oil. Plus it makes your skin smell delightful, though it doesn’t last long enough to interfere with using another fragrance afterwards. This product is one of my absolute favorites from both this gift set and also from the RITUALS product line. I have purchased it several times. Using the Shower Oil in conjunction with the Body Cream is a great way to extend or layer the Ritual of Dao fragrance if you do want it to last, as I often do.

Be Kind To Your Skin Body Cream

As I mentioned earlier in this post, I’m an absolutely devoted fan of the hand balm, but I had never tried the body cream. Not surprisingly, it is wonderful. It comes out of the tube thick and rich, but it sinks into my skin so quickly. Plus it is greaseless! The Ritual of Dao calming fragrance in the body cream is divine and totally relaxing. The scent lasts for a while, and as I mentioned above it would be perfect to layer it with the Shower Oil and/or especially the Ritual of Dao Bed and Body Mist (not included in this gift set but sold separately).

Nourishing Shampoo

I had no idea that RITUALS made shampoo, but I’m glad I know now. First and most important to me with my red locks, RITUALS’ shampoos are color-safe, yay!  In addition to being sulfate-free, they are also free of parabens and silicone. They’re made for all hair types and they can be used everyday.

Nourishing Shampoo is enriched with argan oil from Morocco and an ingredient I wasn’t familiar with: shikakai, a natural ingredient used for millennia in India. Ritual of Dao Nourishing Shampoo strengthens hair while taking care of the scalp.

The Ritual of Dao Nourishing Shampoo shares the white lotus scent, and it smells fantastic while soaping up my hair. Coupled with the warm water of the shower to create just the right amount suds, it is so pleasant and calming to use this shampoo. Definitely a treat!

The shampoo was easy to rinse out, and it left my hair feeling nourished, not stripped.

RITUALS for the Holidays

I’ve said this a number of times before, but I think luxurious bath, body and home products from RITUALS are not only perfect and still affordable self-treats, they are fabulous hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, birthday gifts, and holiday gifts. The gift sets like my Ritual of Dao Small Gift Set come in beautiful boxes, all ready for gifting. And the sets come in a few different varieties in each of the key scent collections. Some of the gift sets include home fragrance products like candles, room spray or diffusers, I believe. Click over to Ulta Beauty where you can buy the Ritual of Dao Small Gift Set for $25 as well as other gift sets, Lord & Taylor, Macy’s, and the RITUALS website to look at all the gift set offerings as well as the complete product lineup. On the RITUALS website, Ritual of Dao Small Gift Set is called Calming Treat and is priced at $26. I think you’ll be as amazed as I was when you see all the products in their entirety. And if you are traveling to Amsterdam, you will be overwhelmed in a good way by RITUALS!

Have you tried any of the RITUALS products yet? What’s your favorite collection?

*Note: I received the Ritual of Dao Small Gift Box from Treason in exchange for an honest review, but as you can tell, I am a long-time fan of RITUALS bath and body products and have purchased lots of them on my own.
